One of my favorite places in MHK. The deli is amazing, the soups are to die for and the smoothies are one of a kind! This spot has organic everything which makes it so easy to find exactly what you are looking for. The people are also all so sweet and have come to know my boyfriend and I simply by how often we go in. DEFINITELY GO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT :)

I love how they offer vegan soups daily! The soups are sooo delicious! :) I will support any vegan-​friendly establishment :)

The People’s Grocery Cooperative is a great local place. I am not a coop «owner» but I can still enjoy the benefits of the store. I have not made it to a cooking class yet but I heard there was a free kimchi class recently. I also have not tried the deli. I do however come here for the unique products in the store. The produce is locally grown, and there are all sorts of neat things, like candy-​striped beets. I have purchased ground goat meat here from a local rancher. There are a few kinds of ito en Teas Tea here (not my favorite jasmine green but still cool), a good selection of Asian products, cheeses, tempeh, tea, bulk spices… all sorts of cool stuff. My favorite thing lately is the hand-​cranked (as in, I crank it) raw almond butter. Raw almond butter is really hard to find after the recent recall, so most stores only have roasted almond butter. There are jars here of raw almond butter but the jars cost almost $ 14 each — YIKES! The hand-​cranked raw almond butter is by weight. You purchase a container the first time for 25 cents and can bring it back to reuse it for free. I usually spend about $ 2 and have almond butter that lasts for many delicious breakfasts on some Radina’s bread.

For the longest time, this was the only place in town to get organic foods, but now Dillons and Hy-​Vee have health food sections, so there’s more options. This place is a little pricey, but I like supporting local businesses, so I would usually try to come here, first. They have a good deli, decent coffee selection, and bulk items. The people are very helpful.

I went on a Wednesday afternoon around 3pm to order a sandwich. There were a few customers coming in and out, and one person ahead of me ordering a sandwich. I ordered my sandwich and it took over 20 minutes just to get it! Crazy! The girl making the sandwich was just slow. The sandwich was yummy, but I won’t be back.

Came in on a Sunday at 4:45 PM. The store only had one other customer. We ordered three sandwiches — no paninis, nothing special. The two employees took 15 minutes to make our sandwiches, which was a long wait.
On the plus side, this is the only place in Manhattan with a consistent selection of organic foods, medicine, and natural beauty products. In the freezer you’ll find kombucha and uncommon meats like goat and bison. The store is small but has a good variety of products.

It is ok, I would give more stars if there was a larger selection. But for a small town with limited options to organic food, this is a great place. I like the hummus they sell at the deli. I like going here for the milk and meat that is all grown locally.

Really great organic grocery store. Im in love with their Lincoln Panini sandwich. Its a hot sandwich with turkey, spinach, hummus, tomato, onions, red pepper and sharp cheddar served on focaccia bread. Yummmm. Its one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten!!!
If I come back to Kansas, I’ll definitelt try their smoothies.

I am really glad that Manhattan has an organic grocery store. However, the only sales that go on in the store are for members only. not cool! and considering west side market is right down the street, I would think they would try to up the produce section (or lack there of). This is the breadbasket of america, get some freakin veggies!

I stopped here on the way home to Wichita, and was not impressed. There was less than a dozen items in the produce section (in May), the prices were high (you have to be a member to enjoy the «sales»), and the lady who worked there was a bit rude. The reason I gave this place 2 stars was because of the deli. The sandwich my husband and I ordered was very fresh and about $ 6. I miss Whole Foods :(

I love this place! it’s clean it smells good and they have everything and if they don’t you can order it. Thier beauty section is awesome if your a natural beauty product person. they have a lot to choose from. I like the zum products, and the 100% oils they have to choose from. I am not a 100% organic consumer so I don’t know of the many choices out there produce wise but for the low suger low gluten things I like to get for my kids and fresh produce, and the natural beauty products this place get 100% from me. Also I love thier deli the sandwiches are huge! and the taste is great

I’m not vegetarian, organic, etc. but People’s Grocery has a lot of stuff that’s hard to find in Manhattan. For example, excellent organic coffee (at a very reasonable price) and yerba mate. !~SA-​WEET~!

Hippie heaven in an unhippie haven. In fact, what else is. over here anyway.
So in this otherwise abandoned or rezoned, regentrifying, or re-​something stretch off-​campus is the spot for natural & organic-​y foods and supplements. I enjoyed my chicken & turkey sandwich w/​mustard. Good selection of glass-​bottled and canned kombucha. This is destination shopping outside of Aggieville.

I’m going to give this place 5 stars for their deli. They have a good selection of protein, carbs, and spreads to choose from. I haven’t tried the soup yet but it’s next on my list. The guy who works there is super cool and water is free. You can’t ask for more.

I was forced to spend a few years back in Manhattan and this store was my saving grace. They even get in yogurt from my home in Eugene OR– Nancy’s!
They’ve got great organic produce, clean bulk bins and are willing to order in items you may need.

Being a vegetarian from California it was great to find a spot where I’d be comfortable shopping. Great selection of shelf food of all organic kinds, good freezer case and fridge case and decent selection of fresh vegetables and fruits. Bulk bins were nice to see.
All in all a wonderful little grocery store for those who care a lot about what they are putting into their body.

This is where people in Manhattan get their organic groceries. It is really cool and the staff is a bunch of super-​cute hippie girls. Erin is my favorite. So pretty and nice.
