P.S. 11 – William T. Harris School

My son is in Kindergarten and we are thrilled with our first year so far. He’s happy — thriving and has a wonderful teacher. I rec this school to anyone looking for a great public school [we were in private last 2 years and are equally as pleased yet saving $ 30k a year]

My daughter graduated from here last spring. What a great 7 years! She began in pre-​K and we chose the school mostly due to its proximity. Every year, though, we grew to appreciate the fine teachers and special enrichment classes more and more. My daughter participated in drama, music, art, dance, and lots more. Gym class took place in the basement swimming pool. There always seemed to be an event or festival taking place in the cafeteria or lovely yard.
The school has now expanded into the whole building, but still contends with recent overcrowding. Hopefully the great principal, Bob Bender, will continue to masterfully guide the school over the bumps. Kudos to him and all the teachers (as well as those in most NYC public schools) for doing so much with ever-​shrinking budgets.
