I asked Brianna for only one thing, which was not to take off too much.
She not only did that, but also cut in a layer, I hadn’t asked for.
She was happily chatting away with her co-​workers and when I left my hair didn’t even have the same length but fell in a weird curve. It was probably half an inch longer on the right side.

Got a gilt voucher for partial highlights and Jason did a great job explaining what would look good and did an AWESOME job. Loved the final product. The only complaint is the super chilly space which sucked on a cold day. Also, while the space is really cool and industrial the chairs aren’t the most comfortable for a long color process. That said, the main thing is the final product and that came out GREAT!

I’m editing this from 3 to 5 stars. After I wrote my below review O&M called me within an hour to come back for a complimentary service (thanks to Jason, who is amazing). Jason is truly a talented stylist! Go to him before he gets too popular! My hair looks so great and is the perfect shade of blonde. Very impressive for only half head balayage. I’ll definitely be going back again!

It was just okay. I had a gilt city deal for partial highlights (balayage) and they were not terrible but were but were not very strong. They have now faded a great deal, and the highlights that are left have faded to a slightly orange color only a month later. The last time I got balayage it lasted 4 months. I have wavy hair so the slight orange isn’t that big of a deal, but if I wore it straight all the time you could definitely see the orange tint it has faded to. If I would have paid full price I would be much more regretful but you get what you pay for with gilt city. Another thing is if you are someone that likes to relax while getting your hair done don’t go here. They make you sit at a crowded communal table while receiving your service and I found it stressful and chaotic. Positive note the blowout was great.

If I could give this place a 3.5 star review I would — mainly because of how beautiful place is and the people working there are so sweet! I came here a week ago for half balayage because I had a full balayage done in June and wanted a «refresh». My hairdresser, Brianna, was a little caught up in her appointment before mine, so while I waited I received a nice hand massage and enjoyed the design of the place. Everything about the process was nice, BUT once my hair was blown dry, I saw no difference I even gave it a couple of days and no one seemed to notice anything new with my hair. I wasn’t going for drastic, but there was just no change that I could see. It was kind of a waste of money and I wish I could’ve had a bit more streaks in my hair.

The worst haircut experience in many years. I have long, wavy hair, asked for a trim and no layers because it gets tangled. For my hair type layers are not recommended. A good stylist should know that. The final drop was using curling iron since blow drying took long and she rolled her eyes every 5 minutes.
Will never come here again.

Space is great, staff is great. Had a Gilt cert and booking was very easy.

The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. I was greeted with a beverage before I sat down to meet my stylist. I came in for a blow dry. Stephanie was my stylist and asked questions and really listened to what I was looking for style wise. I am happy with the results. Will come back for sure.

LOVE O&M! Jason is amazing. He knows exactly what I want, and somehow cuts my hair forever without losing my beloved length. And their products smell amazing!
The staff are all very nice and accommodating. I will caveat this with saying that while I love it, it’s definitely more than i would like to pay for a haircut… Though well worth it.

I’ve been on Unilocal hiatus once my time is consumed by my infant. Decided to spend a few minutes to write a rave review for O&M. I desperately needed my old light brown balayage (that turned brassy) removed and wanted red for the fall. I found a giltcity deal and decided to give it a try. The place is cute– think NYC loft. My appointment was with Jason and can I say he was amazing! Super patient and thorough. I showed him some pictures to show what I was looking forward and he made some suggestions based on that and my skin tone & hair color. I’ve tried a few other NYC salons and can honestly say this is by far my fave now. Will be back!

The salon feels like your best friend’s living room in Brooklyn, which can be a shock to the senses if you’re used to a ‘normal’ salon. It’s comfortable and not stuffy. I actually had to wait about 30 minutes because my stylist failed to show up (thankfully I forget her name), but another male stylist took me on and gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had. Sometimes patience and a prayer pay off! Will come back here every time for a hair cut — results just don’t lie!

I booked an appointment here for balayage after researching groupon deals. I have never done any coloring to my hair so I was very excited. Additionally, after a pretty bad haircut from another salon before this appointment, I decided I would get my hair fixed here as well. William Scott Blair did an AMAZING job; I love my hair.
He was able to fix the bad cut without taking too much off and the color looks SO good. It looks how my hair used to look when it was sunkissed (before I stuck in an office all day)!

I got my hair done with Jason. He is very detailed and knows what he’s doing when it comes to painting hair and achieving the finished results. All I can say is perfection!

I first came to O&M when they opened back in 2013 and this was my first experience with the amazing William Scott Blair. I saw him twice for a cut and was blown away with how amazing my hair looked! After that though I got involved with the bbu model project and only recently returned thanks to a gilt city voucher. When booking of course I request William again.
I showed up last Tuesday and my hair was looking like a hot mess. I had a grown out bob that was doing me no favors whatsoever and blunt bangs which I got on a whim at the Asian place next to the laundromat where I was obviously bored waiting for my clothes to dry, anyway, they were completely butchered. William greeted me at the door and sat me down where he asked what I was looking to do today. He also asked if I was still in Queens and how school was going which is something I told him the last time I saw him over 2 years ago, he remembered!!! Anyway, I wanted to get rid of all the disgusting damaged ends thanks to all the bleaching and dying I do at home. He knows that I do not have the time to be blow drying and styling everyday so he gave me a cut that gave me shape and would still look good as I grow my hair out. He fixed up those horrendous bangs and gave me an amazing blow out. Since then I have tried replicating the curls he did on me and they came out amazing! My hair looked exactly the way it did when I left the salon which is how I gauge a good cut like if my dumb ass is able to replicate the style and it doesn’t come out a hot mess, I’m soooo stoked! Thank you William and I cannot wait to venture into the world of color with you next time xx

Came here today to use a gilt voucher for a gloss and blowout and was so blown away. It is definitely a bit hard to find as it is kind of not where you would expect a hair place to be but so worth the bit of confusion getting there.
The space is minimalist but so comfortable and was quiet when I was there this morning. And they give you like 3 million options of water when you ask (all fruit infused yum.) This is also the first place I have ever been where they give us a ridiculously relaxing head/​scalp/​temple massage that almost made me fall asleep. Win!
And to top it off my stylist William was amazing. Nicest human ever and SO skilled he gave me an amazing blowout (the best if not in the top 5) and did so without me even telling him?! How did he know it was exactly what I wanted I will never know. What I do know though is I will be back.

Brianna is EVERYTHING. After a crapy highlight job and feeling like I was doomed not to ever like my hair again Brianna was my knight in shinning armor.
Can’t say enough about her. She gave me gorgeous highlights and hair «painting» job and a perfect cut. So perfect in fact that I spend barely 10 minutes on it in the morning, the cut just falls into place like model hair. I’m Constantly getting compliments on my hair (something I went without for years!) I loved all the products she used on my hair and the salon was the perfect mix of cozy and chic.
Brianna gave me confidence back about my hair and that is priceless. I won’t shut up about her and I’ve found my forever hair home.

I came in with long hair that fell past my armpits – asked for a trim and said I liked a few layers but not a lot. Showed a picture as well that depicted what I said.
Came out with a very layered style (picture Olsen twins circa 2000) with the longest part about 5 inches shorter than what I had; the shortest layer above my chin. I’ve washed it at home and tried styling various ways, but it is simply an awful cut and not at all what I asked for.

This is the best place I have EVER gotten my hair washed. They do two rounds of shampoo, a conditioner and a head massage. Very thorough, squeaky clean (unlike every other salon I’ve been to), and divine. I’d go back just for a wash.
Haircut was great too. Brianna Davis was sweet, accommodating, and careful to give me what I wanted. She did a very careful cut with wet hair, dried and styled it, then detailed it some more with a few snips. I got great layers that look awesome today, a few weeks later.

I was looking for a salon in NYC and found O&
on gilt city. I purchased a deal for highlights and I am so happy I did! I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Brianna and I will never go to another hair stylist in NYC again! I found my hair soulmate! Brianna is AMAZING! Super friendly and talented! She did an amazing job with my hair both color and cut. I cannot say enough good things about her!
The salon is great as well-​very nice space and friendly staff.

I was desperate to find a new hair color/​cut and gilt city had a deal with o&m.
I walked in not sure what to expect but found a really fun, relaxed envorinoment, I was lucky enough to have Janelle handle both my color and cut. Janelle was warm, gracious, and– oh my god –talented.
I’ve searched for the perfect red hair color forever and have always felt that the colorist was never able to hit the right tone without it looking cheap or too over the top. The red I have now is so beautiful, luxurious and really perfect.
Janelle cut my hair as well into this long incredible style. She was able to really guide me to the perfect style. The best part is that a week later my hair looks like it did when I left the salon.
I’m so thrilled to have found this place — and Janelle.

The space is stellar! Extremely welcoming staff, laughs abound, coffee and tea in nifty cups on a beautiful tray, endless and top of the line fashion magazines. While getting your hair colored, you get to sit at a large wooden table and continue to enjoy reading or chatting away with your hairdresser as he/​she paints beauty into your hair. Plenty of natural light and just a couple steps, several jumps and 2 lunges away from lovely places to grab nom noms at too!
Briana has been my hair dresser for many years now and I haven’t been able to trust my hair with anyone else since. I have been to Hair Philsophy, &HairLounge, and Fox & Jane (the latter is actually pretty good) but nothing truly compares to a good cut by Briana. She is attentive to what you want and understands your lifestyle so that the cut you get is appropriate for the amount of attention you want to pay to it and the cut will need. I now have a gorgeous textured bob right at chin length and fringe bangs.
She suggested 3 great products for my curly, thick, deep brown hair:
O&M: Style Guru: Styling Cream
— Typically I would use mounds of mouse in my hair. The only one that seemed to help was the Dove Whipped Mouse. But that still left my hair dry and I needed oodles of hairspray to give the proper weight for me hair. I personally hair when my hair is super soft because there is no weight or oil to it so I can’t get a style to it. By applying 1 – 2 pumps in damp hair after the shower and sleeping on it, I have my curls in the morning!
O&M: Surf Bomb
— Briana was right, «This stuff is the Sh! t.» When I wake up and having the Style Guru in my hair, I spray this bottle of goodness all over (and underneath the top pieces too!). Your hair my be a tad wet but let it dry and you will have awesomely wavy and defined hair. I tend to use a bit much of products so it helps keep the firmness of the style that I want.
O&M: K-​Gravel: Texture Clay
— Normally I steer clear of things like CatWalk’s gels and creams because they are incredibly stiff and I was hesitant about this product but it’s now my staple! All you need to do is rub 2 fingers around in it LIGHTLY and have a bit of the clay on your fingers. Work it into your hair to make certain pieces firm and defined. This will help solidify the look and texture you want to go for. This would also be a great product for someone that has a pixie cut — I would know, I used to have one.
