Mel Furukawa Design is simply exceptional. I am in Los Angeles and needed a plant arrangement to be delivered in Tribeca. The transaction was flawless — personal attention, artistic selection, reasonable price, timely delivery, follow-up text messages. I would give six stars if I could.

Mel crafted a very beautiful, vibrant, unique, and elegant arrangement for a last-minute situation. I called him in the morning and the flowers were delivered promptly in the early-afternoon. Mel provided great customer care and he even sent me a pic of the arrangement so I could see it. Definitely recommend!

Mel was highly recommended to me and I can see why. I just had the wedding of my dream thanks to Mel. He made everything so easy for me. I don’t know much about flowers, but I do know what looks beautiful or not. I told Mel what I basically wanted, something romantic, and the color scheme. He worked his magic and the wedding turned out beautifully. From the petals on the floor, to the center pieces and the bouquets. I was so pleased with everything!

After seeing his beautiful arrangements on his website and on Unilocal,I called Mel from California to order an arrangement for our son and his wife for their new baby boy. Told Mel I wanted something different in yellows, greens and whites(new Daddy is an Oakland A’s fan), and not too big(for ease of transportation home from the hospital). He was funny and gracious. The arrangement was beautiful and I know I will be using him again for special occasions for family in New York. Thank you Mel!

I was on a tight schedule during the week of Thanksgiving and Mel made time for me by coming to my parents’ house out on Long Island(he had an event in the Hamptons later that day so it all worked out). Mel is so much fun, he is as real and hilarious as he is knowledgeable. He’s been in the business for about 30 years and he still gets experimental and tries new designs in his studio. His website really doesn’t do him justice— plus I don’t think he’s updated it in forever. I’ve never met a florist before but I know they can’t be all like Mel— he is truly an original and he can really get inside your head and make your floral arrangements come true ala David Tutera. BONUS: he is a recommended vendor by the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.
