Specialties

I specialize in therapeutic massage for injury prevention and rehabilitation. I use various forms of massage, including deeper work such as Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point work, Myofascial Release, deep tissue massage) as well as lighter work such as Craniosacral Therapy, Reiki energy work and Swedish massage.

History

Established in 2010.

I have been doing massage since 2000 when I lived in North Carolina. After returning to New York, I received my NY license in 2010 and opened shop. I’ve honed my skills while working at Equinox on weekend warriors and the injuries they endure and with a more general population in my private practice. I’ve helped people with issues ranging from post-workout soreness to plantar fasciitis to fibromyalgia to shoulder replacement.

I tend to be a technical therapist. I am fascinated by anatomy and love the process of discovering where pain comes from (not always where you think) and finding the most efficient way to relieve it. Patients should not have to return to the same therapist weekly for years to fix the problem (although that is sometimes the case when there is a structural anomaly). The ideal is for them to get to the point where they choose regular maintenance massages while living their own lives pain/restriction free. This is my goal in all sessions and with all modalities.

Business Owner

I studied massage after my sister sustained a major injury in an auto accident. I was lucky to be in a position where I was able to take her to her various therapists as she healed. Watching them allowed me to realize that I wanted to help people for a living instead of pushing paper, as I had been doing. So I got my license in North Carolina (where I lived at the time) and started my practice.

I love what I do. People come to me in pain, often not understanding why they hurt. Frequently, pain comes from tight muscles pulling us out of proper alignment. My job is to figure out which muscles are tight and relax them so the patient goes back to proper alignment, reducing pain and dysfunction. WARNING: I give homework. Getting massaged for an hour a week or month will not keep you out of pain if you don’t stretch/strengthen to maintain proper alignment. So I show you stretches to help maintain your pain-free existence. I want you feeling better and out telling people how much I helped!
