I was on vacation in NYC and my friend who lives there set up float sessions for us. I was super excited, 1) because it’s such a unique thing that I’d never heard of and 2) I have trouble quieting my mind & relaxing so I was excited to give this a try. The woman who explained the process to us was very nice and gave us great pointers on how to get the most of our experience. I took a shower & put ear plugs in before entering the float suite. The personal pool is 10″ deep with 800 pounds of Epsom salts in it! Once I laid back I was completely floating! There was a soft blue light illuminating the suite and white twinkle lights on the ceiling. Soft relaxing music played for the 1st10 minutes then it was completely quiet. I also turned the lights off after about 5 minutes. After a few minutes I was so relaxed that I couldn’t even feel my body! It was the most relaxing experience I’ve ever had. I was skeptical that I would be able to quiet my mind and last for a whole hour in the water but the relaxation completely took over my mind and body. I felt super relaxed the entire day. I’ve felt detoxified ever since my float session. I highly recommend this to everyone. I will definitely do this again next time I’m in NYC.

Living in NYC, I’m constantly bombarded with noise, smells, etc. This continual stimuli can get to me at times, so I needed something to help. The perfect antidote to this was the Infinity Float Immersion Chamber. It was a unique experience to be cocooned in warm salt water while floating in complete darkness and quiet stillness. My stress and senses melted away into a trance-like state. I read about immersion chambers, and was curious to finally try one. I ran across the Spa Week special for Infinity Float and decided to check it out at Q Flatiron. Setting up the appointment was a bit frustrating, hence why I couldn’t give them 5 stars. It took about 5 days between emailing back and forth and playing phone tag. They have an online booking system but it didn’t work properly so I was forced to leave messages and wait a day or two for a response. The space is pretty nice. It’s a shared space with acupuncturists, massage therapists, and other holistic health practitioners. There is a shower area where you can prepare before entering the immersion chamber. It’s comfortably warm and you can feel the humidity from the water. Once I was actually in the chamber I could feel the dense quality of the warm salt water cushion my body as I floated in complete stillness. There was some gentle Stephen Halpern music playing which slowly fades away to silence after about 5 minutes. Stars fade and glow on the ceiling of the chamber, and iridescent glow lights surround the edge of the chamber. Eventually, I disabled the lights and was surrounded by nothing but COMPLETE darkness and 95% silence. I drifted into a half-awake/half-asleep state and my body felt like a jelly fish for about an hour. I was pleasantly surprised to feel totally relaxed and my muscles felt like I received a light massage. The receptionist mentioned that some people feel neck pain, but that didn’t happen to me. Overall I thought this was a great experience except for the haphazard booking procedure. I would also think they should maybe update the website to be more clear about this float process which I found a bit confusing(online), however, when I arrived, the receptionist was very kind and helpful showing me the facility. I will probably return since they offer package deals.
