The Hive at 55 is a coworking space for freelancers, startups, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. The Hive offers a comfortable and professional place to work and has affordable membership plans for every budget. There are no committments and you can work 1 day a month or every day!

By becoming a member of the Hive you will join a community of like-minded professionals who are here to work, network, and collaborate. Membership costs include Internet access, printing/copying/scanning, use of conference rooms, and coffee/tea.

History

Established in 2009.

The Hive at 55 was created by the Alliance for Downtown New York and received a grant from the NYC Economic Development Corporation to support and promote the growth of NYC technology and media industries.

The Downtown Alliance is Lower Manhattan’s Business Improvement District. The Alliance offers many services to the community including cultural events, informational signs, security, and sanitation. The Hive at 55 is a unique endeavor bringing affordable workspace to the community and NYC in general.

This place no longer exists, but the website is still up and they’re still charging money for rentals.
I went online and booked two seats for this location, was charged for the rental, was *sent a confirmation email* and then when I arrived at the location, I was refused by the front desk bc they indicated that Hive at 55 was no longer at the 55 Broad St location — despite the confirmation email’s address listing.
This place has no phone number, no email address. I have sent an email to their affiliate of the New York Alliance and to the network they use for booking. Have not heard from either.

This is a hidden gem.
We organized the Holiday party for our Meet Up group here and absolutely loved the space.
If you work for a nonprofit or start up then this could be a really useful space for you.
I highly recommend it to everyone who are entrepreneurs, freelancers and small business owner looking for affordable office space.
Aside from the wonderful space there are also a lot of great resources such as community events that allow networking with like-minded individuals sharing the space, as well as other networking groups that often host events here.
All in all a find!

Good place for renting a conference room for your business or personal needs.
Open space and tables when you come into the place. May get loud if its busy.
Easily accessible by subway or just biking down from the east or west side bike lanes.

I’ve held 2 types of events in this space and I love it! I love the idea as well, being someone who works from home (but enjoy my own workspace actually…)
The staff is super easy to work with, and their prices are great for organizations similar to theirs — they are looking to cover costs and not jack up anything (better than using local universities).
One event was a weekend conference — it couldn’t have gone more seamlessly, and the attendees couldn’t have been more pleased.
The 2^nd event was a film viewing where we basically rented out the entire main space for a week night evening. We had a lot of technical issues, and their A/V guy had already left for the day, BUT — the people who use The Hive for workspace came to our rescue! What a wonderful community!
I hope people continue to support this place because I sure will.

Excellent for entrepreneurs, freelancers and small business owner looking for affordable office space.
Aside from the wonderful space there are also a lot of great resources such as community events that allow you to network with like-minded individuals sharing the space, as well as other networking groups that often host events here.
I first found out about Hive55 through another organization that hosted a small business/start-up class focusing on client’s mailing list. It was very useful and I loved the space.

I needed a space to work while visiting Manhattan. Found Hive at 55 via a Google Web search. Costs $ 25/day which is comparable to other co-working spaces. The space is clean, well lit, and, like their name says, buzzing. When I walked in, I was greeted and provided a brief overview of the space. A few moments after sitting down to work, snapping a photo of the workspace and shot of a quick tweet…

A few minutes later I was approached by the Hive at 55 manager who introduced me to someone sitting about five feet away who was working on a very similar project.
That’s the beauty of co-working.
I highly recommend Hive at 55.
