Negative stars if I could. And I NEVER write bad reviews. Not my style, and don’t like wasting time that way. But feel most compelled to here. I used to go to this place almost daily. But had such an awful disgusting repugnant experience just recently from the RUDE LADIES working here. I’ve always felt they were a bit over the top with their stingy attitudes, but was willing to accept that due to them being a convenient store stocked with a decent variety of items, and being a small biz in Soho, I know how expensive rent is here.
I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND SHOP AT THESE MEAN WOMEN’S STORE.
Here’s what happened–
I was grabbing coffee as I often do in the morning there, and one of the ladies comes over eyeballing my coffee, crowding me. Then she starts in a nasty tone, «what are you making now» like, really? I went to the register she’s mouthing off in another language to the woman behind the register, continuing her blatantly ugly tone. The price is more than it normally is, I said, «this is coffee, it’s $xxx» she goes, «She said it’s this price». What? Why? She proceeds to say I used extra cream and they have a sign posted for the charge.
Now, nevermind the fact that the sign is tiny, and I frankly didn’t see it, and that the idea of charging for «extra cream» in self serve coffee is such an arbitrary retarded way of doing business… not about the money, it was the principle of how rudely and with such disrespect that they handled me. I was a frequent customer, daily or every other day. They spoke at me with such disrespect and rudeness. Isn’t it dumb to lose a customer over something like 25 cents. Really? And just treating someone so poorly. Total disrespect. I said, «That is so rude. Really that is so rude! I’m here like every day, now I’m never coming back. I don’t want the coffee, give me my money back. You’ve lost a customer»
Let’s be fair– they have it posted (TINY) and quite honestly I didn’t see it. But that doesn’t matter. They can charge what they want, and I’d pay it. But they can’t treat people and customers so poorly.
I won’t be back to this place.
Other incidents I’ve heard of and experienced–
I bought pumpkin seeds there once. When I opened the container the seeds obviously had white mold. NBD, just go back and return/​exchange them.
When I returned the same rude lady first said that it was salt. SALT! In raw pumpkin seeds. Can you believe that shit? Unbelievable! I said, No, that’s MOLD. Give me my money back or I want a new box.
I got a new box.
Other things they’ve reportedly done– increased the prices of their products when they are the only store open, for example I heard they did that in the blackouts raising the price of water and other items.
Its unfortunate that such not nice business owners occupy a prime corner in beautiful Soho. The only reason to shop here is because they do have fresh items that you’d otherwise have to go to a grocery store for. It’s convenient, can’t lie about that. But support nice business owners. M&O Market across the street, or 6^th Avenue Deli are way nicer, deserving, better priced and equally convenient. I don’t want to help people with undeserving attitudes survive. And hopefully neither will you.

This place is ridiculously overpriced — they charge $ 8.75 for strawberries! Are those magical strawberries, I think not.
Also, after paying $ 4 for one avocado and an orange (which is a lot if you ask me, about double what I would pay at a street fruit vendor) I came to found BOTH were rotten. BOTH!
They’re very unfriendly too, which just tops off their suckiness.

On Valentine’s Day flower rush, it got the job done. Quick, efficient service and very decent selection flowers without totally gouging you like some of the other places.

Let me start by saying that the merchandise is vastly overpriced (i.e. $ 7 for an amy’s mac and cheese, $ 4 for a role of paper towels). Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s the only ²⁴⁄₇ «grocery» store in the neighborhood… oh wait, what about Morton Williams on Bleecker? Aside from this, the owners (a husband and wife) have always been friendly to me but that could be because they know I live in the neighborhood and I go in sober (unlike most of their customers who stroll in from the bar across the street at 5am). If you are in a pinch and need one or two things, I recommend this place. If not, walk the three or four blocks down to Morton Williams and get what you need for ¼ of the price. Just make sure their Merchandise isn’t expired *eek*

If you speak Korean, you can hear the proprietors call female customers «sluts» and their employees «lazy Mexicans.» At least that’s what my Korean friend tells me.
I’m kinda sad to write this, because this deli has been around forever, and is not without it’s charm. It’s plenty overpriced, but that’s the neighborhood for you. They’ve got decent produce and are open 24 hours, for those late nights when you urgently need a couple 40’s, yoghurt, a 12 pack of condoms, and some hand sanitizer. But knowing that the people behind the counter are kind of nasty has caused me to greatly favor the other neighborhood joints, like M H Fruit on 6^th ave, where the guy is really funny and cheerful.
Recently, my Mom and her husband, a mixed-​race couple, bought a few things from H and H. The guy running the shop didn’t respond to their «Hello,» or «Thank you.» So yeah, fuck these guys. I’ll go to a deli where they hate their customers more discreetly.
