First Properties of New York

Julie Wiener, our broker with First Properties, was overall fantastic. We are so happy we found her (on Craig’s list!) and she helped us get a really great deal in the Financial District. Julie was not only a good listener, but actually UNDERSTOOD what we were exactly looking for in an apartment and was able to deliver. When we put in our application for the apartment we wanted, she was so professional and made sure everything got to the property management company on time. She was such an organized «middle-​man.» She was accommodating to our special requests, like a later move-​in date and was also able to negotiate our monthly rent! Julie was not pushy at all and we would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a smooth apartment hunting experience!

Me and my boyfriend were looking for an apartment downtown Manhattan and got in contact with an real estate agent from First Properties — Aerol Hutson. He was very cool and easy to talk to the first time we met, and made sure to show us everything that met our preferences and within our budget. He showed us some really nice apartments in Financial District area. It was super cold on that day but throughout the whole time he was very patient and joyful. What amazed us is that, far from what we knew about most brokers, he didn’t try to push us to make decision at all, or be overly aggressive. Instead he listened to what we like or dislike about the apartment, and tried to contact more buildings for availabilities. Even tho we only met him twice, we truly sensed that he is an honest and trustworthy guy. We really enjoyed in his company and appreciated his assistance.
We all know that looking for an right apartment is a pain, but Aerol gave us a tremendous time. If any of our friends are looking for apartments around Financial District, we will definitely recommend Aerol to them!

This process could very easily suck when you’re not working with someone who really cares…
I like doing things really fast and I have practically zero patience. I worked with BRETT SiLVERSTEIN and he was awesome. Long story short, he helped me find an apartment and 2 roommates and moved in all in just over a week! Never once did he seem or sound salesy… and he didn’t have that annoying/​fake way about him that lots of sales people have. He showed me buildings that were exactly what i was looking for and we searched for 4 hours on a Saturday… not to mention in the rain.
Couple quick bullet points that I think are important to seek in a broker (that Brett has)
–responds to emails/​texts within minutes
— willing to seek out unique information about apartment and living conditions
— doesn’t get impatient or make you feel rushed
— doesn’t try to bump up prices
— fun (the process can get really boring and if you don’t have someone you can stand for more than 1 hour… it will suck… I’d actually consider Brett a friend now :)
— flexible — being willing to meet whenever wherever
