I hate leaving bad reviews. I do. Unfortunately, my experience here was terrible. I have seen the same nail tech for almost three years now and have followed her to various salons throughout Brooklyn and Harlem. I don’t trust anyone else to do my nails, but because she is on(a well-deserved!) vacation, I went here. It’s by my apartment and has decent reviews. How bad could it be? A few pros, quickly: It looks like a normal salon. There are a number of reasonably-priced services listed on a board out front so that there is no confusion regarding pricing, which I liked. I was seen quickly and did not have to wait long. I saw another patron getting what looked like a really nice set of coffin nails at the table next to me. Be aware, then, that some techs here are great; others, obviously, are not. The cons: Like I said, it was a standard NYC salon. A technician was eating messy-looking food at his station. Technicians yelled across the room to confer with waiting customers instead of walking over. Not the worst, sure, but the rest of my experience soured me to the place so much that these things got under my skin. When I sat down, my tech was friendly, if somewhat aloof. I don’t mind that; I don’t expect every single technician to try to be my best friend. She got to work quickly, which was great and all, but when it came time to cut the tips down, I told her I wanted pointy nails and she gave me a blank look. I always get pointy nails and usually still have them on before I go in for a fill so it’s more obvious what I want, but I took them off yesterday to let my nails breathe for a while. Big mistake. Without a guide, the tech was simply not able to grasp what I meant by pointy. Lord knows, I’m one of the last people still holding onto pointy nails, which peaked in 2014, so I’m honestly amazed that there are still techs left in the city who find this difficult. Surely, they’ve been asked for this before. At first, she clipped and filed one into a coffin tip. I said no, I wanted pointy. She rounded it. «No,» I said. «Pointy.» She continued to round it. I put two fingers together to make an angle and reiterated that I wanted them very pointy, «like a triangle,» which at least resulted in her saying«OH, a triangle, okay!» She made the finger she was working on slightly pointier. It was like a very, very round triangle. I assumed once she had clipped the others down and put on the acrylic overlay, she would make the point more severe, so I decided to wait and see what happened. I have worked a number of jobs in the service industry and I refuse to ever yell or get snippy with someone who is doing a service for me. I wasn’t interested in making a scene. She raised the price $ 5 for the«pointy» nails. I agreed that I would pay $ 23 instead of $ 18. No problem. Sadly, all of my nails came out a different shape. None of them were pointy. I ended up saying I didn’t want polish, that I would just wear them bare. I went to the dollar store next door and bought a nail file and some polish, then went to the park nearby and filed and painted them myself. If that is how you’d like to spend your day off after you pay $ 23 for nails that are not remotely pointy, I suppose this is the place for you. I have photos that I can’t seem to attach for some reason, so I will edit this post and show the photos if/when I can.

I can not complain about this salon. they do a good job for the price you pay. I come here when I don’t want to spend a lof of money. Ask for Sam or laura they do amazing job and all the staff is really nice they have a good selection of gel colors as well. They also carry matching gel and regular nail polish for those who need both

You can’t expect more than for what your paying here people, this is one of the best priced nail salons in the L.E.S. I’ve been going here for the past 5 years and I’ve never had a bad moment. I’ve gotten manicures, pedicures, acrylics, uv gel, and waxing and my experience with them is if your clear on what you want they are more than happy to work with you. One time I heard this woman complaining while she was getting a pedicure-she wanted her feet to look like that of a poster they have on the wall– First of all you don’t look anything close to the model in the picture– what makes you think a $ 13 pedicure is gonna do to your feet? Surgery? I don’t think so. Anyways, I’ve moved to Brooklyn, and Queens in the past and recently to the UPW, I still make my way downtown. If your a regular and tip nice they’ll treat you nice.

If you are desperate & need a quick mani/pedi, this is your place. Don’t expect professional quality. The ppl here are really nice. Try to get the guy(Sam) b/c he is surprisingly better than the girls, including his wife!

I like this neighborhood nail salon. the owners are nice people & they promised to get me out fast, which they did. they do a great job. my nails always come out beautiful, nature and stay for 2 weeks(which is AMAZING). Plus the price is really really reasonable for Manhattan. You can’t beat the price & the gorgeous service! They do get packed though which is a great indication of EXCELLENT workmanship, so I try to go off peak.

I’m still on the search for a good neighborhood pedicure salon. I came here because it is close to where I live, and the sign outside the door said $ 16 for a mani/pedi. Super cheap for Manhattan. The place is small, cramped, and doesn’t feel very clean at all. There’s dust particles everywhere, dingy stains on the pedicure massage chair, and tissues laying around the drying area that were used to separate the toes for pedicures that no one had bothered to clean up. And when it comes to their colors, I’m a little suspect about what kind of switch-a-roo they’re pulling here. They had some Essie and OPI colors on their wall, and I was browsing through them to find my color, and noticed a color that I was unfamiliar with. It was a light bluish/grey color(reminded me of Cloud by Revlon), and when I looked to see what the color it was, I was surprised to see that it was in a OPI Rumples Wiggins bottle(which is supposed to be a pastel purple color). Then I see an Essie bottle that I think is gonna be Marshmallow(sheer white color), and am again surprised to see that it’s in a Mademoiselle bottle(pink commonly used in french manicures). My best guess is that they’re filling their Essie/OPI bottles with cheap nail polish and trying to trick people into thinking they’re using high quality nail polishes here. As far as the quality, I didn’t think they did a very good job at all. I would expect that when I’m paying for a professional manicure, they wouldn’t get the nail polish on my cuticle and skin, and know that some nail polishes will need 3 coats in order to not be streaky. I had to ask my manicurist to do a 3rd coat instead of rushing ahead to the top coat because the polish was still streaky after 2 coats. And speaking of top coat, whatever one they use here does NOT do a good job at all. 4 hours later, I got a nick on one of my nails because the nail polish had not completely set yet. Might as well have not used a top coat at all with that kind of result! I would come here again if I was desperate for a pedicure because the prices are so cheap, and it’s in my neighborhood so I’m passing by it all the time. However, I’d bring my own polish colors and top coat next time.

don’t go here if you expect to be served… i’d give this place no stars if i could walked in said i needed a pedicure and quickly. since mani and pedi is $ 16 together, i asked if i could get a mani as well, but fast and they said sure sure, told me i’d be in and out in 30 minutes 30 minutes later, i’m still waiting and other women, who had walked in after me, were being served ahead of me also, the space is extremely small and cramped, very claustrophobic

I like this place, although the salon is very small, they work very fast. The price is reasonable and pretty low compared to all the other nail salons i’ve visited in Manhattan. They charge $ 40 for U.V. Gel and $ 18 for acrylics. I would recommend you to get your nails done by the owners. One of the ladies that is at the booth next to the women owner(laura) did a horrible job with my acrlyics. It was too flat, out of shape, the length was off for every nail, the paint was horrible, and she is rude. I asked her to make the nails round instead of square and she said«NO! young people do square nails», I asked her to paint it pink and she said«No, your nail will look more natural without the polish.» If I wanted my nails to look natural, I wouldn’t go to a nail salon and do my nails. Luckily the owner knew what happen and knew that i didn’t like the nails, so she said I could come back for her to fix it up for FREE. She is so nice. But although she was fast and did a great job on fixing it, though the polish chipped really fast even after i paid for the U.V. gel coating, so it would«last longer» and the nail polish did not go on evenly(bad paint job). *update* the very next day my some of the paint chipped off T_T. now it looks weird on my thumb. I should had never gotten the UV gel extra $ 5 for no reason.

I was a little worried when I heard how difficult it is to find a place to get acrylic fills for under $ 30 in the city. Luckily, this place was only $ 15 for the fill and they were really fast, too! They do charge $ 2 for a cut down, which is strange to me considering that is part of the nail maintenance. This is a basement location and Unilocalers told me to try cheap acrylic fillson the LES. They are noted as a different name when you search the address, as well as a different phone number. They are really busy most of the time. I walked here from Chinatown, because some other They also do pedicures and normal manicures. Call me old fashioned, but I just cannot give up my acrylics, I have had them since I was fifteen years old. Luckily, I found two places in my part of town that do the same thing, which will keep me from having to make this journey again.
