Daniel Shoe Repair

Left a pair of dress shoes that had been worn in the rain for a polish. This genius did not wipe off the rain damage before shining the shoes. Shoe repairs don’t get any simpler than this and he botched it. There are no good show repairs in the 90s… you have to go down to the 80s.

The greatest place to get your shoes repaired. I’m definitely going to be coming back

Went here to repair my very warn down shoes. Much cheaper than any other place and was amazed with the craftsmanship. Finished in the same day I dropped them off too.

Never going back!
1.) Took my pumps in replace the stilhetto heel soul
2.) Convinced me I needed a whole new soul replacement.
3.) I agreed… price = $ 36. He said the shoes would be ready by that evening.
4.) Went in the next morning, thinking they would definitely be ready, but they weren’t! I needed those shoes for work that day, so I waited in his shop. He made me late to work…
AND, I realized that he changed the entire color of the soul from tan to black without telling me. He also put some oil on the suede that changed the texture. When I told him, «I wish you had told me that you were going to change the color of the soul. I’m really not happy with the way it looks,» he started YELLING at me!!! He barked that he did not do a bad job: «Don’t come back here then!»
Bizarre! I can’t believe he yelled at a customer for being unsatisfied, and for just reason. Cookoo!

There is no way to give zero stars so…
AVOID THIS STORE-​YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
The balding younger man took my favorite boots and this is what happened…
1.) Took them in for a simple hole patch.
2.) Convinced me I needed a whole new soul replacement.
3.) I agreed… price for new soles and 2 small patches…$ 90.00
4.) Went in on agreed finish time, he needed another week. Went in and he was closed at 10:30am. Came back and he was «on break»…had to come back the following week. This has now been 3 weeks, not 1.
5.) He took the whole sole out, this type of boot has air in the soles for cushion, he replaced it with a hard awful, uneven material. Then NAILED heavy clunky heels making the shoes 5 lbs a piece. The patches were pieces of black leather crazy glued to the inside. AWFUL and UNCOMFORTABLE now.
6.) Two weeks later, they fell apart.
7.) Brought them back to have the soles repaired AGAIN AND the PATCHES fell out.
8.) picked them up, there were twice as many nails and TONS of glue! Just awful.
9.) He THEN forgot the patches!!!
10.) Again I have to wait another week AND as I stood there he was doing the whole, «how long have you had these??» SO that he can use the excuse of «well, they were old.» when I pick them up…
11.) a nail was pert riding from the soul and PUNCTURED my foot.
12.) brought it back AGAIN and asked for a refund, he began screaming obscenities at me while trying to repair the AWFUL job.
Threw the shoes on the counter and yelled once again that he’s fix it again if he had to!!!
GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!
RIP OFF ARTIST!!!
THIS GUY WILL CHEAT YOU AND TELL YOU YOUR SHOES ARE BAD!
The better business bureau will have my complaint by the end of the day.

Live on the Upper West Side and need to have shoes/​zippers/​leather goods repaired? Go here. He saved me $ 25 for a zipper repair; the place around the corner said it would cost $ 40. He now has a customer for life. Daniel is on Amsterdam between 92^nd & 93^rd.

My shoes were done in two hours. I took a pair of boots in on a weekday afternoon. As I approached he was headed out but went back in and looked at my boots, took my payment, and said they would be ready by 4. Was very friendly. He fixed a tear in them and re-​heeled them for $ 13. They also got a nice shine and look like new despite being about 8 years old.

I was glad to see a new shoes repair in the neighborhood especially on that specific block. Nice addition. I took three pairs of shoes for replacement soles and heels. Daniel was quick, less than 24 hours, but not a bargain. The workmanship was only okay. I expected better quality work after all the promises he made to do an excellent job. He left glue on the suede, which does not come off. Worse though, he dropped one of the brown suede shoes into black polish. I know accidents happen, but the shoes are Prada! Needless to say I will not be back. Very disappointed.

I think this shop is new to the neighborhood, so I was glad to have the opportunity to check it out.
I dropped off a pair of my girl’s shoes which were in bad need of a double heel replacement, and the guy did an outstanding job. The shoes were ready in less than 24 hours without any issues at all. It was also fairly inexpensive. I can’t remember exactly but it was about $ 15-​$ 20 for the job. Pretty good deal since he saved the shoes!

Daniel is new to the neighborhood, but Ive brought my best shoes to him several times already, and he does beautiful work. I never had him shine my shoes, but he replaces my soles, heels and keeps everything looking great without gouging or charging too much!
He uses quality materials and pays careful attention to every detail. He is one of a dying breed of old school NY artisans. A real class act! My shoes never looked better.
