I came, I saw, and now I’m movin’ on…
Not the most entertaining kids spot. My 5 yr old got bored of the water area within 30 mins. The other room next to it was small and only had a gym mat and a few balls to bounce around. Another tiny room was for babies with a few basic toy items. I kept sanitizing my hands because everything felt grimy. There’s a sad little «gift shop» here also if you want to step foot in it for 1 minute and walk back out.

I’m not sure why people like this place so much. I brought my one year old and I thought it was no. thing special. The baby room looked old and dirty. The paint was cracked in the treehouse. I might bring him back for the water table when he’s older, but it’s definitely not worth 20 dollars an hour.

A cute little play place that is good for filling an hour or two with little kids. The water table is the main feature, and there is also a water painting wall and a small tree play structure with a lookout, cave, and slide. I’d say the age group caps out around 5. If we lived in the city, this would have been a nice spot for a 2^nd or 3^rd birthday party.

2. Water table looked dirty and grimy
3. Carpet smelled yucky
4. Toys in toddler room were old and cheap
This place really needs a full clean up and possibly a new carpet.
Had a play-​date here 4 years ago and nothing has changed except for the obvious wear and tear.

I’ve been to City Treehouse twice. Both times my nephew has enjoyed it immensely.
4 Stars because it’s entertaining for toddlers.
My only concern is that I feel they should sanitize more often. Unfortunately, I will not be returning because both times we visited my nephew and I were sick with colds within days.

Didn’t want to take the chance on a cloudy day, so decided to stay indoors for the day. Called ahead of time to make sure we can do a walk-​in, then purchased a deal from Groupon right before we came in. I have to say, $ 20 for a one day unlimited pass for the family was not worth it.
We stopped by after a delicious meal down at Schnipper’s, conveniently, just a couple blocks away. The young lady at the desk was friendly and place was empty, which is good since it’s hard to keep and eye for kids if it’s too crowded.
A facility with 2 floors, spacious but not too much to do. Top floor was a huge treehouse, with a slide and a small tunnel underneathe. Along side the house is a large water table with some sprinklers and a small area to build a dam. It’s nice they provide water smocks and drying stations along the wall, but I advise that you bring another set of clothes anyway, good thing I took the advice from several great reviews, thanks fellow Unilocalies! On the same floor, there were also 2 rooms that was closed off due to «on going classes», though I didn’t see anyone inside, I’m guessing its due to limited to no staff on duty that they kept it off limits. Hmmm.
Tick tock tick tock, my kids soon got bored so I went to ask the man in the man in the window if the lower level was opened for play, read in a review that they had more than one level of fun. He kindly walked us dowstairs and showed us a room with 2 sections. No one was there besides us, neither was there any staff to keep an eye on us. Nothing special, one section was a table a coloring station, a bunch of Mr. Potato heads, and small shelf of books for reading. The other side was just a bigger room with a kitchen set and shopping cart, a play dress up closet, and randomly, an actual tricycle.
All the play rooms requires your shoes to be off. Sanitizing stations are located all around with baby wipes and tissues for your convenience. Restrooms are huge, includes step stools, a changing table and a separate diaper pail only for diapers, not garbage, which is great. Overall this is a nice place for toddlers and to come with for playdates. Just not worth the trip on days like these when there is limited staff and no events are going on.

Took my 1 yr old last week for the first time. Small but a cute hidden gem. Good for babies and toddlers. Very nice staff also. We went on a Sunday at 1:30 pm and it was not overcrowded. Will definitely go back.

i had my son’s 1^st birthday party march 1,2014 and it was a blast! they place is full of fun for the kiddies. and the staff was a great help. the adults all said it was beautiful and also had a great time. the staff didn’t rush me out or run my guest away when time was up. they was cool. i love them all :-)

I visited City Treehouse with my 8 month old son for the 1^st time several days ago and had a very poor experience. I would not recommend this place at all for parents of younger children. There is essentially 1 room that is appropriate for infants and young children. At 1^st glance, this room has a fair number of toys and other «equipment» for babies to play with but it became immediately apparent that many of these toys, etc are in very poor condition, not working and probably have been there for years without being replaced or fixed. They don’t even bother to replace worn out batteries. Also, the room as well as the toys did not seem very clean to me. The bigger problem, though, was that there were a couple of older (6 year old) kids in the room running around and jumping on equipment that was clearly not meant for their size and my son and I had to literally hide in the corner because there were numerous instances where my son was almost trampled on. Before we left, I informed the lady at the front desk that I was very unhappy with my experience, particularly the safety issue described above. She barely looked up at me, and clearly could not care less about anything I told her.

My family and I LOVE this place! We’ve been coming here since our daughter was a year and a half. We’ve brought friends and family alike, everyone has always had a great time. The water table is my daughter’s favorite along with the tumbling room. Who doesn’t love a room with mats and bouncy balls? Personally, I appreciate the hand dryers in three different temp settings.
Most recently, we hosted our daughter’s 3^rd birthday at the end of September. To start, planning is quick and easy. We booked the non-​exclusive party as the place is never crowded and has enough areas for toddlers to never be fighting for space. We got stuck in traffic and arrived late, but our guests were already playing and having a great time. Our Treehouse contact, Dolliah, was AMAZING!!! She let us have the space an extra half hour due to our late arrival since there was no party booked after ours. When our cake turned out to be a moldy mess, she had us send the kids back to the playroom while we got Crumbs cupcakes around the corner! Words cannot express how EXCELLENT their customer service is, not just that day, but EVERYDAY!!!
City Treehouse is the BEST play space we’ve been to by far!!! Though some new water toys wouldn’t hurt, it’s good to switch it up at times

We went here for a friend’s birthday party. It was just okay. I’d imagine it’d be a great little place for parents who live in the neighborhood to just pop in whenever the weather’s bad. But for people who don’t live nearby, I’d say it’s not worth the trip — I’d suggest going to a kid-​friendly museum instead.
The place is small. Basically there’s a «large» room with a treehouse and a water table. It also has 2 small rooms — one with balls and another that’s a soft play room for babies. But that’s all there is. Can’t imagine spending more than an hour here.

my 2 year old son loves this place!!! It’s great to go when it’s really hot or cold outside and you can take lots of fun pictures in there! The kids love the water play area and running up & down the big tree. There’s also a wonderful assortment of classes offered & playrooms that they can run around in. Can’t wait to bring my little one back!

Tis true the space is small and sorta boring but if you want a good ballet class for your toddler this would be it. Not only is the teacher Ms. Catherine FANTASTIC and FABULOUS!!! its one of the best priced ballet classes i have found after trialing around the whole city! My daughter loves ballet so much she ignores the playroom!!! So I definitely give it a great review! I also love the wipes and hand sanitizers all over the place!!! Oh and the free massage chair that is soooo needed when i go there :)

City Treehouse is a lot of fun. The music classes they offer are great and the water table is irresistible (and it’s cleaned every day)! The front desk girls are always so nice, too.

Classes are decent. Super expensive as compared to other well known play gyms in the area. Play area hygiene questionable with the water table, and a weird chemicallish smelling plastic tree. BUT here’s the tipping point for me to rate them 1 star– Awful Awful Terrible Manager! Her n am eis Casey and she is plain and simple rude and unaccommodating.
I was with my 1 yo son and, after a class as we stepped out of the room he saw the water table and ran in to see what it was– any child would be drawn to the water and floating toys. The manager wasted no time to be there, and snapped– I mean snapped– at us saying that she would like us leave immediately if we were not planning «buy» the play time. She stood there all the while with a looking-​down-​upon-​us look on her face– while I was picking my screaming son who wanted to go touch the water. As if we were going to steal a cup of water from her stupid little stinking water table.
Just plain unbelievable attitude to be running a children’s’ play center!

3 Stars because my daughter loves this place. No more then that because I hate the water table. I have to change her outfit completely before leaving (even if I can get a smock on her) and because every.single.time we go, she gets sick a few hours later. The tree is pretty sweet and she loves the star cave, but it really stinks in there. I’m not sure if it’s because the carpet has gotten wet from kids going back and forth from the water table to the cave, but it’s gross.
In the winter I think they should turn the water table into a sand table because going there in the freezing cold and leaving a little damp is no fun. But, again the bottom line is my daughter loves it there and in rain or snow it’s a close, reasonably cheap place to play outside of our apartment.

The customer service in this place is awful and I’m not sure how clean it is.
I wanted to rent a small downstairs room for a private play session and was told the rate was $ 75/​hr. Several days later when I called, I spoke to the manager who was ridiculously nasty and told me that the rate was in fact $ 175/​hr unless we wanted to use the room non exclusively, which made no sense. The rate is actually still on their website at $ 75 but they would not honor it.
Also when I visited the place in the evening, it had a strange smell about it and just looked like it needed a good cleaning. I’m not sure I want my kids to be playing in here afterall.

This place is funny, in that it could only exist in New York, where kids are so desperate for space to play that they go sort of crazy here. It’s basically a room (not even a very large room) with a sweet fake tree that has a couple of caves in its base – one of them is called the Star Cave – and a little room at its top, and a slide leading down to the ground. There’s a whisperphone, so kids can whisper to each other from the top to the bottom, and a little teloscope, and holes through which they can peek. The rest of the room is taken up by a water table, with balls and a cup and plastic animals, and some devices kids can control with wheels. There are two other small rooms: One, for babies, which has basically the same toys people would have at home. The other has three gym mats and a bunch of balls, and a ballet bar. So, in essence, it’s kind of lame, especially for the price ($ 10 per child for an hour of play; $ 40 per family for a whole day of play), BUT the sad truth is: My kids absolutely LOVED it. I mean, LOVED, loved, loved it. During school break, we spent a whole afternoon there, and they had the best time. It was a huge break for me, too, as they just played happily for hours and hours, and had a lot of fun with the other kids there. Though the space definitely seems designed for younger kids, my older child — who is 7 — loved it as much as my younger (3), and there were plenty of kids her age there. So, in short, I’d say, if you’re visiting the city, you should skip it, but for New Yorkers, if you’re looking for a rainy day activity – especially one for kids of vastly different ages – this would be a good one.
One nice thing: They provide free coffee, tea, and water.
One annoying thing: They have a shop, which sells toys, all of which are visible from the main play space. My kids, because it was their first time, were so occupied with play that they didn’t notice it, but other kids were begging their parents to go in.
And one other annoying thing: The women who worked the front desk were incredibly sweet and helpful, but the woman manning the play space was kind of a jerk. For instance: They have huge colorful buckets lined up around the water table. At one point, my daughter scooped up a cup of water and dumped it into a bucket, and this woman got very upset. «Water doesn’t go in the buckets,» she said, very harshly, as if a 3-​year-​old would know this. Doesn’t water usually go in buckets? And what are the buckets for, anyway?

We came for the open play session, and I’m afraid we found it to be lacking, particularly for the high fee that they charge. The water feature was nice, but the remainder of the space was poorly utilized and of limited stimulative value. The «baby» space that contained the books and toys held many collections of items that were either missing pieces, contained pieces that did not correspond to the toy they were in or did not function at all. The letter/​number foam mat, for example, contains all of the squares but NONE of the letters. How incredibly disappointing it was for my son, who was excited to actually find something in the space that was age appropriate (he’s 2), to put the mat together, only to discover that none of the letters would fit!
There were precious few items in the play space to begin with, and someone should have checked that all were complete and usable before setting them out. The water feature alone is not enough to offer. I expected more for the price that they charge, and given the lack of care and insufficient variety, we will not be returning.

I usually only write good reviews but this place was lousy for my little one’s second birthday party. It was in January of 2011 and I did the package that rented out the entire place (the general public was supposed to be escorted out beforehand). The party was about to start in five minutes and my guests were held in the lobby while the general public was allowed to play until the exact minute of when my party was supposed to start… so, you can imagine that it takes at least 20 minutes to corral toddlers away from a play space let alone put their shoes back on and bundle them up for the cold weather. So, there were strangers at my daughters party for the first 30 minutes as they didn’t care that there was a private function going on.
The party manager person was so accommodating and so helpful and so willing to tailor my party to my needs until the second I handed over my credit card and put down a $ 1000 deposit. She completely disappeared after that and I never was given any of the things that were discussed that were promised in my contract. And, of course, the employees beneath her didn’t have the authority to authorize extra balloons or anything that this party manager had promised.
The help on the day of the party was mediocre at best. I usually tip these young people but they sucked. They could care less about serving pizza or cake or helping the little ones out. So, my family stepped in when they realized there was absolutely no help available from the staff.
The kids had a great time… they wouldn’t know the difference but honestly, this place is not worth the expense… and definitely does not deserve the «Best Birthday Party Place 2010» award that it was given that provoked me to book in the first place. Big disappointment.
