What happened to this place? It used to be packed with people looking for egg sandwiches in the morning. I passed by it today and it was empty. I think it might be because a few newer and nicer delis have propped up in the neighborhood. This place certainly isn’t easy on the eyes. I felt a bit bad for them as I used to order breakfast from this place regularly when I worked around the corner from them, so I decided to make a delivery order of scrambled egg in a wheat wrap. They sent over fried eggs in a wrap — and the bread to egg ratio was way off. They should have used a smaller wrap. Perhaps that’s what the real problem is.

Skip it… with all of the other choices in the area, this is not worth the time or the money! Their menu is very misleading — almost to the point of illegal. Sandwiches are priced a la carte, so each additional thing you put on it will cost you extra. Meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, bread, whatever. No problem with the concept, except that this is not disclosed anywhere on the board and the guys making don’t say at thing to you when you order. The women at the counter are no better, pretty typical min-wage workers — just as soon spit on you as talk to you and explain. No more for me.

Solid lunch, was on par in contrast to the local fare. Half salad/soup combo was pricier than others in the region, although I think I was given a subcharge(not sure if it was because the soup I chose was the lobster bisque or if it was because I opted to pay by card, but my guess is the bisque). I only know this because my coworker ordered a half soup/salad and his came out to be approximately 25 – 50 cents less. Not that I mind, the soup was good, but let me know beforehand so I know. It’s the principle of the matter, ya know? Question though: Why on earth does lobster bisque contain oil? There’ve been other places I’ve gotten the bisque and sure enough, there are tell-tale oil signs on the edge. =/ The egg salad sandwich was pretty good. I’m not normally a fan of sun-dried tomatoes but they did a good job with it. All in all, ’twas ok, would’ve gotten the 3 stars if not for the pricing issue or if the quality was a slightly better(not that I’m complaining, I’ve definitely had worse).

It’s a hole in the wall of awesome. I drove by for the first year I lived in Bloomfield, and kept seeing the sign out front, with a eggs, toast, potatoes breakfast… for $ 2.25. I eventually stopped in, and was sad it took me that long; the place basically feels like a hippie got to decorate a tiny diner, hire his friends, and make some delicious food on the cheap. A+.
