Specialties

I have 15+years of experience making custom couture clothing such as wedding dresses, costumes, suits, knitwear, lingerie and seperates. I work with all fabrics including specialty items like beading, leather, and fur.

My work has been shown on What Not To Wear, has been worn by major celebrities, used in mulitple Broadway productions, tv, movies, and dance companies.

I am known for my qucik turn-​around and reliability. I am available for on-​location requests as well as private fttings in my studio.

History

Established in 1997.

Taught to sew as a child by her mother, Carmen’s first creation was at the age of 9.

At sixteen Carmen designed, draped and, sewed the bridesmaid’s dresses for her brother’s wedding.

Very young she worked in factories making dresses and started her house business knitting sweaters for Designer Dara Sedaka who’s Stage Clothes were worn by such stars as Toni Tenille and Marilyn McCoo.

In 1985, Carmen began consulting and designing wedding dresses

Went to FIT where she received a Bachelors in Production Management Apparel and Fashion Design at Polimoda in Florence, Italy.

In 1993, Carmen designed the first 15 wedding dresses for Manale’s first bridal collection.

In 1998, Carmen designed children’s clothes for Bella’s Kids collection.

Carmen works extensively throughout the fashion and Theater Industry to mention a few: DKNY, Parsons & Meares, Lila Broude, and now through her own Custom Design and Costume Builder Business, Carmen is available for you and your Design needs.
