I was not impressed with my eyelashes at all. I show the two ladies exactly what I wanted I even showed them a picture, and they still did it the wrong way. I felt like they were in a rush to go home. I just was not happy with the service at all. The girl that was doing my eyelashes seemed inexperienced. I spent $ 56 altogether for crappy eyelashes. That’s the case I would have rather pay the real amount for good eyelashes. These people are crooks they’ll tell you $ 35 in Groupon. Then you call for an appointment and tell you have to pay $ 21 with tip and taxes. What a bunch of crock. I will never return back to that place again.

This whole experience reminds me of the episode of Broad City where Ilana goes with her mom down to Chinatown to buy knickoff handbags. Except instead of handbags, you get cheap, synthetic mink lashes glued to your eyelids while a bunch of people are yelling in the next room about being ripped off. First off, the lady at the register demanded I pay the tip up front before the appointment– aka, if the service sucks, too bad (and it did in fact, suck). The tip went right into a generic cash box, not to the lady who actually ended up doing my extensions. When I went to select the lash size, I was told that anything above a 10 would require an additional cost. I usually get 13s, but since I was in a hurry and didn’t have any extra cash on me, I went with 10s. An hour an a half later, we’re done, I have Eugene Levy’s eyebrows on my eyelashes, if you can imagine that. And the glue job was so messy that my eye basically had to be pried open with a tweezers. Once I had both eyes again (the glued shut one was sore for about 24 hours), I ran out and never looked back.

Nice! Loved my new eyelashes. I did it some time ago but it’s still very full. Also It was so relaxing that I fell asleep.

I bought a groupon for lash extensions for $ 39. Most places charge between $ 100 and $ 300 for lash extensions. They called me 2 days before my appointment to confirm and also alerted me that I would have to pay tax and tip, which thy said would be $ 30. Altogether with groupon, tax, and tip– still an awesome deal. Ive bought several groupons and always have to pay tax at the location so I don’t have a problem with tax. If they want to charge tip I’m ok with that too. I usually follow tip etiquette anyway, which is to tip 20% of the original price of service. However, if they want to include the tip, they I give them exactly as they ask. They must’ve been ripped off from people not properly tipping in the past so they decided to automatically charge it. It took about an hour and a half for
lash extensions, and they are absolutely fabulous. I wake up looking glamorous! Be sure to care for them as they tell you so they last longer. They offered me an excellent price to come back in a few weeks for a touch up and I will definitely do it. They were very kind and did a great job. I’m very pleased.

The girl that did my lashes was very sweet. She was very gentle, I even fell asleep. They were very nice. My only problem was that I was charged a mandatory tip of $ 27. I work in the beauty industry so I know how inportant and respectful it is to leave a tip. And normally I tip 20% if the service was good. However, it just rubbed me the wrong way that they didn’t even let me know that I had to pay that extra $ 27 when I booked my appointment. Luckily I had cash on me. But def be aware if you have a groupon you have to pay for the tax on the voucher as well. Overall, they did an okay job.

This is the worst most unprofessional costumer service I have experienced in a salon in the NYC metro area. I went in for the groupon lash extensions which I was so excited to get. The first day they looked great. Immediately after this they starred to fall out. I called less than a week later (when in the salon they informed me that the lashes would last more than two weeks and up to 5). I asked about coming in to get them fixed. The woman on the phone told me this was fine and to come in. When I came all the way there she informed me that I would have to pay the full refill price. And also accused me of wearing mascara on them which was not true. I asked to speak to someone else and was denied. So I left looking like an idiot for over $ 50. They just tried to scam me out of more money and were incredibly rude while doing so. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I have to give this unpretentious eyelash spa 4 stars. Why? Clean, nice staff, they have different lashes to give you different looks, and they are reasonably priced (eyelash extensions are an expensive habit). They were also very accommodating to my comfort requests since I was 38 weeks preggers (if you’ve been pregnant, you know lying flat on your back is a PITA). The lashes last! If it wasn’t for me only sleeping on my left side, I wouldn’t need a fill every 2 weeks (I need symmetry in my life at all times). If you can find them on GROUPON, try them out. I’m not sure how much a regular set is BUT their fill-​in cost is super fair! Make sure you bring cash for tax and tip.

Amazing job! I didn’t get the name of the lady who did my lashes but they are perfect ! She did exactly what I wanted ! She was so gentle i fell asleep during the process. Please be advised if your buying off groupon tax & gratuity is not included so I paid $ 21 out of pocket, not bad at all seeing as I would pay $ 20 for a hours work. Also if you want lashes longer then the standard lengths it’s an extra $ 20. I went with the longer. I love the dramatic look. It’s not for everyone. Came in at 10:15 and was out by 11:20 so good job ladies at candy spa. So I give them a 5 star. Hopefully they last longer then ²⁄₃ week.

I had a $ 45 groupon for eyelashes and they have the nerve to charge $ 31 mandatory tips. WTH? They are stealing money from everyone. RUN AWAY ! Plus the Quality is very poor — plastic eyelashes!

This is my go to place for lashes. I originally came on a groupon and loved them. They always do a great job on my lashes and are very accommodating with appointments (one time my technician even stayed late to take me because she knew I wanted to get in that day). Can’t beat their prices and service. Won’t go anywhere else. Love, love them!

Candy Spa is a no frills lash extension place but their work is definitely quality! I had came here after a botched job at another salon. They put too much glue and the lashes were too heavy for me. In fact, I lost a lot of my natural lashes due to the terrible job that this other place did. I came to Candy Spa to replace them and fix the mess that the other salon made. They did a fabulous job. Janine meticulously took off as much of the glue as she could from the previous place (Royal Hair Extensions in Midtown) and replaced them with something that suited me better. I’m brand new to lash extensions. My sister did my first set and they were beautiful but she doesn’t live in the area so Candy Spa is now my go-​to place. Their rates are reasonable. I bought a groupon but taxes and tips are not included. That goes without saying. You should tip according to the original rate, not the discounted rate. Don’t be stingy. Not to mention, they give you partials for $ 30 for up to 3 months!!! What a deal! **Note, they’ve moved to Grand Street!!!

I purchased a Groupon for eyelash extension here. The space is small and rather simple so don’t expect a luxury or cozy spa feel to it. It is definitely bare bone. I was led by a lady to lie down on the bed where she started working on me for an hour of lash work.
It was pretty smooth and the lady was thorough. I was told upfront when I booked the appointment over the phone that I would have to pay $ 21 for the tax and tip, which is totally fine with me.
The result came out decent. Actually, this is the 2^nd time I have ever get eyelash done so I can’t really say much. I did notice they fall out rather quickly. I am into my 2^nd week but I feel majority of them are already gone. So, I am not sure if it is due to the skills, the quality of the lash or if it is very common that the lash falls out so much by day 8.

So originally I got a groupon here for eyelash extensions and got a great deal for about 2 months for refills. Once that was over, they jacked up the price which are super high at least $ 95 depending on the size of the lashes. Their quality of lashes are not even that nice — hard plastic. There are so many competition out there where I can get better prices especially on refills that I have to depart here. Unfortunately, I really liked the technician that did my lashes for the last 2 months, she did a great job. I don’t think the owner understands the market at all. BYE BYE!

This place does not even deserve one star. Save your time and money and don’t bother.
Got a groupon deal here for $ 45. When I got to candy spa they told me taxes and gratuity was not included. Not a problem I thought, until she told me it was $ 47! How is tip and tax $ 47 for a $ 45 purchase? The desk girl explained that it’s a mandatory $ 27 dollar tip which is 20% of the original value of service.
First of all tip is not mandatory in New York City to tip and if you decide to tip the norm is 18%.
Second of all I paid $ 45 not the original value, so even if it was mandatory to pay 20% tip it wouldn’t be 27 bucks.
Just to test them I said that I would pay the tip but that I would hand to girl directly who did my eyelashes. They said no, salon takes the money and gives a percentage of it to the girl. WTH!!!
Called groupon and I was refunded my money so all is well but this place is just scamming people and stealing from the people who work there.

Three stars because the lashes are beautiful. I got a lot of compliments. They also lasted 4 weeks and still looked beautiful. 2stars off
for demanding a mandatory tip before you start. So rude! What if I didn’t like the service? Suggestion on an envelope is ok but don’t demand it.

Bought $ 45 Groupon for glamorous lashes. They get fully booked fast so don’t wait last minute. They tell you to pick length and thickness. I wanted natural but still with some length so I picked 14 & told them natural thickness. Took an hour and ten minutes total. Got a crick in my neck and ended up falling asleep. Very small space but clean, quiet, and dec worth the money. No wait for appointment time. Once it’s your turn they start working on you so they don’t tolerate lateness. I was terrified the lashes would come out looking like those ghetto girls you see with the cheap tacky individual cluster extensions that are packed on and look line curtains hanging over their eyes (so dirty looking). But these are actually individual one to one lashes. So they look natural & fun. About a week since I got them & about 4 have fallen off but they’re still holding strong & I wear makeup almost everyday, was my face twice a day, and use makeup remover around my eye area. Beat Groupon deal for lashes hands down & I looked through ALL of them & read ALL the reviews. Taking off one star because they charge you a mandatory $ 31 extra when you get there for gratuity & tax. I don’t have an issue tipping but believe if gratuity is automatically added it should say so on Groupon be because I may hate the work done and will have already tipped beforehand. Luckily, the esthetician did a great job on my lashes. Will definitely return for touchup.

I bought a deal here from Amazon local for a full set of eyelash extensions, which I’ve never done before. For one, I’ve bought many deals off Amazon local before and never was it mandatory to tip a certain amount. I was told my total would be $ 21, $ 18 for tip & $ 3 tax. I don’t think that is far at all. What if you don’t like the service, and don’t feel as though they deserve the $ 18 dollar tip. Overall, it was an OK experience. Didn’t realize it would be an hour and a half procedure. Touch ups were $ 30, and is suggested to come back every 2 – 3 weeks for them. I personally don’t think it’s worth forking over that amount of money for eyelashes that tend to fall off and when they do, your real lashes come off with it. OUCH!

Came here for eyelash extensions on a Groupon. I got the primary set as well as three extensions. I LOVED having long lashes. I got the dramatic set but not the longest possible because they said they would be heavier and fall out more easily on my thin lashes. They ask if you want cat eye — which I did.
The lashes are thick and plastic. They were a little hard to get used to but they were so pretty. I looked amazing in photographs with these on.
They told me they would last 2 – 5 weeks and mine lasted 2 max. Many of the lashes would fall out and I would not see my own lash attached, so I knew this wasn’t a natural shedding. I know other places would make you get a full set for the full price if you came back with no lashes at all, but Candy spa always «filled» mine when they had all fallen out/​fallen off.
Because of the temporary nature of the lashes and the price, I am trying to wait for another Groupon to come back. Eyelash extensions are an addicting expensive little procedure. But oh em gee they look so good.

At first I was skeptic about getting any eyelash extensions done in Chinatown — -PERIOD. But I am so impressed with their service. I walked in and was greeted by a cute cheery young receptionist. She is a great conversationalist with such wonderful and pleasant manners. She explained their procedures step by step and explained everything in details to me.
I have been to many places, and never has anyone taken their time to explain their procedures and method. They had multiple sizes, lengths, colors and sizes. Their «eyelash menu» was quite extensive… it was such a fabulous experience. I am thinking about making this my permanent go to spot for my eyelashes.
They also provide spa services, which I am thinking about trying out since my eyelash experience was superb, I might try out some skin care things.

So this is a two part review.
I purchased a groupon as well and was aware of the mandatory tax and tip charge that’s clearly stated on the groupon website, which is reasonable. Especially since this is much less than you’d pay anywhere else in the city. I mean would you go to a nail or hair salon and not tip?
It was my first time doing the lash extensions so i really didn’t know what to expect. Once you get upstairs to the actual location it is very clean and sanatary. The staff was polite and considerate. It took about an hour and I must be honest it just wasn’t a great job, i went to long for my first time and some were falling out even before i left the office and i questioned ever doing this to myself beacuse its not like you can remove them yourself. With that said they did last almost a month.
So your probably wondering why i gave this a 5 star review, so here’s why.
I just went in yesterday and was tremendously thrilled with the job.
I did my research this time, and opted to go with multi sizes for the lashes, 11 on the inside area and then 11 and 12 all blended together for the middle and outside, the multi sizes gives a full and more authetic natural look.
It was a fill-​in, but the lovely girl took nearly 90 mintues to get it absolutely perfect and it looked gorgeous. I’m going to post a picture as well (green eyes*). Anyone going here please ask for ‘Candy’ she was professional and extermely considerate and really took pride in making sure i was happy. 5 stars and i will aboslutely be going back.
