Bed Bug Busters!

The prep is one of the most labor intensive and overwhelming parts of this process and Janet’s team of Alice, Mary, and Trevor came and sanitized and neatly packed and prepped EVERYTHING (which is not that much stuff, actually) in our apartment. They arranged to have our rugs picked up and steamed (~$ 500 separate cost) and our laundry sent out to be treated and held for 2 weeks (~$ 400) which saved us from having more bags sitting out in our apt (this costs extra, but had they done the laundry for us it probably would have taken them an extra half day to prep our apt so sending the laundry out was a cheaper option since BBB charges about $ 215/​hr. The crew was friendly, thorough, sensitive, knowledgeable, and very reassuring that it was worth the cost of having someone else do it for us (the downside is it’s pretty pricey). They were also very sweet with our cats who were understandably traumatized by this ordeal. I would highly recommend them for peace of mind.
Janet also gave us names of exterminators and we went with Green Earth pest control.
Some may think that bagging books and CDs for 8 months and sanitizing all the objects in your home seems excessive and unnecessary but I would rather be over-​cautious as I really don’t want to do this again, EVER. Had we done all this ourselves we would have had to take a week off from work (because this probably would have taken us that long) and also our extermination would have been delayed a week or so giving whatever critters were around more time to breed.
UPDATE: 1 month after our completed extermination my husband has new bites. So, the prep and extermination is not a guarantee that the bugs won’t come back from other parts of the building. I’m not going to use BBB service this time around as we couldn’t spend a couple thousand dollars again so soon.

Bed Bug Busters is an incredible service. They not only do their job extremely well, packing everything (and marking everything for easy reorganization!) and sanitizing, they also are wonderful for peace of mind. The team that came to our apartment kept us calm and clear-​headed so that we could concentrate on other things besides the bugs. Not only that, Janet was and continues to be a great resource. She answers any and all questions quickly and effectively. We really felt as though we were in capable hands, which is exactly what you need when a crisis like this hits.

I don’t need to tell anyone who has had this particular infestation what a traumatic experience it is. I won’t go into the gory details as others here have done that already, but to say I was freaking out is a gross understatement.
I literally did not know where to begin getting my apartment prepared for the exterminators but then had the good fortune to be referred to Bed Bug Busters and Ms. Friedman, who immediately put me at ease. It is a wonderful service and run by an even more wonderful person!
Ms. Friedman and her outstanding company are efficient, dependable, accommodating, empathetic (and boy did I need empathy), with a great crew of people making them an all-​around joy to deal with from first contact to last.

When my apartment was hit with the dreaded bed bugs, I was recommended to get in touch with Janet at Bed Bug Busters to help with the prep work prior to the extermination. The prep work is just as important as the extermination when it comes to getting rid of these critters, but the thought of sanitizing and packing up all of my belongings was just too overwhelming, I neither had the time nor the nerve to do it myself. Janet and her team did everything to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible, and to help out as much as they could (A+ for customer service!). Within one and a half days all the contents of my two bedroom apartment were sanitized, organized and sealed. I highly recommend Janet & the Bed Bug Busters team, you won’t be disappointed!

After learning of an infestation in the apartment line adjacent to mine & fearing that I was also infested, I contacted Janet Friedman with Bed Bug Busters. The next day Ms. Friedman visited my apartment to make an assessment. 2 days later a team of 4 arrived at my apartment to prepare it for treatment. Alice, who managed the team, Trevor, Allen and 3 other folks who rotated were amazing. As you can imagine, this is a very emotional and sensitive situation. I have been in my apartment for 35 years and had managed to acquire what I know was a ridiculous amount of STUFF. The entire team was very organized and professional. Alice worked closely with me, keeping me relatively calm and enabling me to really purge a huge amount of unnecessary STUFF.
Subsequently, although the exterminator reported that my apartment was clean, it remained necessary for my apartment to be treated because of infestation in adjacent apartments. The exterminator commented on how impressed he was with how well Bedbug Busters had prepared my apartment. I would highly recommend this company along with the efficient and pleasant team for whom I am very appreciative.

Our building was just awful about treating the bed bug problem in our building, and I think the main reason we were able to get rid of the problem in our apartment was Bed Bug Busters. They packed, sanitized, and treated everything with utmost care — everything was labeled clearly and handled carefully. The guys were super efficient, knowledgeable, and empathetic. The prep that you do before a bed bug treatment is incredibly important — even an excellent treatment won’t take care of the problem alone. Our treatment was pretty awful, done by the crappy company our building uses, and the bugs went away mostly due to the prep work done by these guys. I highly recommend them and am super grateful to Janet and her team.

I found a bug on a pillow in my bed Friday night and panicked. I found Beg Bug Busters online and immediately was able to schedule a consultation the next day, less than 24 hrs later. The two reps that came were discreet and very helpful. They were able to confirm the bug was a bed bug (I saved it in a zip lock bag) and tell me what I could do that would be helpful in starting a cleaning process, as well as thoroughly explained the steps they would take to prep the apartment. Although I didn’t end up hiring them because my property management company already had an agreement with another vendor, I have to say that if I was an independent home owner, I would certainly keep this company in my address book. They’re prompt, professional, helpful, and extremely friendly. 5 stars!

I echo the reviews on Unilocal as Janet ‘s team did a phenomenalj ob on my apartment that had 40 years worth of stuff in it from 3 people in a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment. You cannot imagine how much stuff one can accumulate in an apartment that large. The task of prepping the apartment for treatment was daunting and Janet’s team saved the day. They were a pleasure to be around while meticulously prepping my apartment over the course of nearly 3 full days. I honestly could not have done it without them. They arrived with a PackTite to treat valuables that otherwise could not go into the dryer, vacuums, countless trash and storage bags, tape, 91% alcohol etc. I was doing myself a disservice (mentally and physcailly) by trying to prep the apartment by myself. They really proved that they knew what they were doing and I felt at ease with them there. I came home after their final day of prep work to a completely tidy and apartment worthy of having the exterimators come knowing that they will be able to treat the apartment effectively. Janet’s team is worth every penny.

Janet Friedman with Bed Bug Busters turned out to be an amazing help. She came to access the situation on a moment’s notice and then next day brought in her team to clean and disinfect. She put my mind at ease with this very sensitive and emotional situation. Mike, who managed the project was great and very organized.
