History

Established in 2010.

Bark Avenue Dog Walkers, LLC was started to provide more personal attention towards New York City dogs. Seeing large packs of dogs hardly moving on the sidewalk motivated the founders of the company to create a more premium service that takes dogs for brisk walks. The walks are done either individually, or at most, in packs of four. We offer 30 minute to 60 minute walks everyday of the year (certain early morning and holiday rates apply). We also offer pet sitting services if you plan to travel or would be out of town for a short or an extended period of time. We come highly recommended by our clients and have references available upon request.

Co-​founder and President: Christopher was raised in Florida and moved to New York City several years ago. After working in banking and on Wall Street, he decided it was time for a change in late 2010. He had always loved dogs and thought he could offer superior dog-​walking and dog-​sitting service on the Upper East Side. The focus was to be on quality, not quantity. The company would not only stress «exercise» or «training» but on these things along with making sure your dogs have a great time!

These gentlemen are INCREDIBLE!!!
My mom had a sudden medical emergency that required her to leave her apartment and leave her dog at home. Dylan was able to pick up Mom’s beloved dog (Magic) within an hour. I knew the company was special when Dylan gave me a list of essentials he needed for Magic (who was going to be spending the week with him): toys, food, her bed, etc.
I nearly burst into tears when Dylan texted me a photo of Magic and a report as to how she was doing.
Garrett has been so sweet, patient, and understanding. He was able to answer all my questions and assure me that Magic is safe and sound.
Obviously these men are angels and deserve the highest praise!

Bark Ave is amazing!
When I get home, even after a long day, Roscoe is happy, calm, settled and well-​exercised. It’s obvious from how he acts that he is so well taken care of during the day. Every day Liz leaves a cute note about what Roscoe got up to that day. Liz also takes into account the things he that he loves doing most, like making new human friends, and incorporates these things into his walks. If he ever has any behavioral issues, Liz goes out of her way to actively tackle the problem, when it would be much faster and easier to keep walking. Also, the adorable pictures that they post on Facebook and Instagram make my day!
In terms of scheduling, Bark Ave is so accommodating and flexible. I’ve never had an issue scheduling an extra walk. It is really reassuring to know that someone is there for Roscoe if I can’t be. Everyone at Bark Ave seems to genuinely love and care about Roscoe :)

Bark Ave is amazing to my dog Lexi and I guess myself too! I have been using their services for about a year and a half. I adopted a puppy and needed a dog walker immediately. Dillon reached out right away and scheduled a meet and greet. Chris and Dillon are super attentive and always available via phone, email, or text. I’ve had plenty of emergencies and they always have someone on the team that can help. If I’m ever home when Dillon or Darrel come to get her for a walk, she gets so excited before they even get to my front door, I can’t even get the leash on her. Plus the pictures they put on social media are great during the day! They are the best and I don’t know what we would do with out them!

One of the highlights of living in the UES is Bark Ave’s dog walking and boarding services. Chris and Dillon are running a great company here, and I really trust them. What sets them apart from other competitors in the area is their genuine love, respect, and undivided attention to each of the dogs. These are the people you want to help look after your dog when you’re at the office and your dog needs to be walked, or when you have to travel and need a reliable boarding service. They seem to have a good eye in who they hire too. Two paws up!

LOVE BARK AVE! We rescued our Bernese Mountain dog about 4 months ago and needed a dog walker once a day around lunch time. I did my research and came across Bark Ave. Dillon contacted me right away and we set up a meet and greet so he could meet Ralphie :). He put Ralph in the schedule and put me in touch with Brian (I’ll get to him in a little bit). I am a bit of a helicopter mom so I asked if I could receive texts everyday of how Ralph was on the walk– wasn’t a problem at all! My boyfriend also has a bit of a flexible schedule so sometimes he is able to work from home, so as long as we let them know in a timely manner that we didn’t need a walk– they were cool with it!
Now to Brian– HES AMAZING! He would send me a text everyday with how Ralph was on the walk. If Ralph wasn’t feeling well he would let me know how his energy levels are, or anything else I request (#1 and #2). He would post pictures on social media– so I can check that hes indeed smiling at all times! I know Brian takes care of Ralph the same way his Momma would and there’s nothing else you can ask for.
Unfortunately, were moving to NJ and cant take them with us. But I needed to share this with the rest of NYC– Bark Ave is AMAZING, just see for yourselves!

Alex has been my dog walker for months now, and I couldn’t be happier with the service Bark Ave provides.
After reading their online reviews, I scheduled an initial intro meeting with Chris/​Alex. Both of them were polite, kind, and thorough in their explanation of services. At first when Alex started, he sent me a text after every walk. When he stopped, I felt a little crazy asking him to continue doing so for all future walks, but he was more than happy to comply. He let’s me know how the walk went, and if my pup happened to get into anything around the house while I was at work. He also always makes sure to refill my pup’s water bowl after every walk.
In addition, they post pictures on their Instagram page of all the dogs they walk, including those that are paired with your pup — which is reassuring when you’re stuck at the office away from them. They also post pictures of the terrible dog-​walkers they see handling 5+ dogs at once, which proves how committed they are to keeping a high standard even if that means taking on less business to give your dogs the best possible experience. The best part about Alex and Bark Ave? They’re extremely flexible and have been able to accommodate all of my last minute requests! Same-​day — not a problem. Need to cancel a walk this week? Totally fine. They also use pay pal for billing purposes, which is super convenient and easy.
If you can’t tell, I highly recommend Bark Ave.

Alex has been our dog walker for about five months now and has been nothing but great. Not only has he been very attentive to all our needs, he goes above and beyond while caring for our little guy. When we had a wedding out of town, I didn’t hesitate to ask Alex if he could take care of Indy. We got daily text message updates as well as pictures of Indy. I needed a dog walker AND a dog Runner, all in one. And needed someone who «got» my dog since she can be a little difficult.
After some serious research (Look, I have pet insurance for my dog. In the past before Chris, when I needed to board her, she went to Long Island to a house on the beach. I don’t screw around when it comes to my dog. My dog is family)
I found Chris, and OMG. Answered Prayers. Just awesome, responsible, ATHLETIC so he RUNS with my dog! My dog loves him, and it is such peace of mind to know that Chris, Dalton + Dillon have your dogs back. The best, just the best.
They are the only dog walkers I can recommend paws down.

Chris has been walking my dog for about a month and I have not one complaint. Before moving here I was so nervous about finding a dog walker that was trust worthy… and who actually walked my dog. We have all passed those supposed dog walkers with 5+ dogs just standing around «walking» your dog. THIS is not the case for Chris. Your dogs safety is his first priority. When it is raining – he also makes sure you leave a towel out so that he can help dry your pooch off. Not many dog walkers would spend the additional time drying your dog off. My dog had an accident in the apartment one day and Chris actually cleaned it up for me. These are only a few examples to show that he is really just a nice guy who would treat your dog as if it were his own. I wholeheartedly recommend Bark Ave.

Bark Ave Dog Walkers is simply the best dog walking company in NYC. Chris has been walking our 6 month old havanese for the last few months and it has been a wonderful experience. Chris is always flexible with what days and times we need him. He is responsible and willing to the go the extra mile — like carrying our puppy in his dog carrier when exiting our (ridiculously strict) building. Another huge bonus is that Chris posts pictures during his dog walks with your puppy, it is such a nice surprise to look at during the work day. I cannot say enough positive things about Chris and his company.

Chris from Bark Ave has been walking my pup for the past 6 months or so and I don’t have one bad thing to say! I’m not an everyday customer, usually just once a week or so when I need to work late (cough cough go to happy hour) and Chris comes to walk Ernie and feed him dinner. I love that he posts adorable pictures and videos on Facebook so I know that my dog is happy and safe. Also I usually text a day or 2 before and he is always very accommodating If you live in the UES and need a nice, responsible walker, Bark Ave is your place!

Bark Ave. goes above and beyond. I have used them for cat sitting services several times. Recently, my grandfather passed away and I had to rush out of town. Dylan took time out of his schedule to meet my roommate and pick up they keys late at night. He comes to see my cat as many times as I want, unlike other services which have minimum and maximum numbers of visits per week. And he sends me a picture each time he visits, which is just so comforting for a pet owner! Admittedly, my cat loves every one, but she REALLY loves Dylan and Bark Ave!

Bark Avenue provides exceptional dog walking services. Both Dylan & Chris (though Dylan more frequently walked our little guy) are phenomenal: so nice, professional, friendly, and caring. It was such a comfort to actually know the person who was entering our apartment every day and spending so much time with our dog. Dylan was very understanding when we would cancel last minute, or, more challenging, make a last minute request for a walk. It was also nice to know that our dog was being given the attention he deserved, often being walked alone or with just one other dog from our building.
We have not had a need for their dog-​sitting service, but would not hesitate to use them if needed! I recommend Bark Ave to all doggie-​owners on the Upper East Side. They can’t be beat!

I found Chris Turi by accident as my regular person was unavailable or booked up.
The thing is I’m crazy about my dog I know everybody says that but to the point that she is most important to me. She doesn’t like big places like biscuits and bath and has gotten kennel cough from them.
I travel for business a lot and need someone that loves dogs as much as I do. Chris is that guy. Lucy needs to sleep in a bed she’s not the dog bed type he lets her with him and she loves him and his dog.
He is responsible thoughtful and a pleasure to do business with. I trust him and feel comfortable which is so important to me. He gets it.
As of today I have an ill parent and Chris has bent over backwards to help me.
I can’t say enough kind words. My dog is thirteen and I’ve tried it all. Too bad he didn’t stat it earlier.

Taking on an 8 month old puppy by myself was a big decision, but I decided to give the poor, little, abandoned pup a shot when Chris, the owner of Bark Ave, made it clear that he would help me every step of the way. I was skeptical, but once I saw how much he cared about the dogs he watches, as well as his own, I knew both Jude and I could count on him.
For over 2 months I have been able to call Chris day or night and ask for his help, advice or extra walks if I’m stuck at work late. He’s very understanding and goes above and beyond to make sure his paying customer (myself) is just as happy as his actual customer. Jude gets super excited when he sees Chris around the neighborhood so I know they get along great. Plus, as a concerned, and sometimes painfully uninformed «single-​mom», Chris sends me pictures of Jude playing and having fun on their walks as well as updates on how he’s doing.
I appreciate the way he takes care of Jude and makes sure I know he’s not some lousy scam artist. If you’re looking for a dog watcher in the UES, Chris is the best. I’ve also had experience with Dillon, his partner from the UWS, and he’s also really invested in the happiness of your dog and you business. This is a great team.

It’s difficult to describe how amazing Chris (the owner of Bark Ave. Dog Walkers) is, but I’m going to do my best and try.
The short version is…
Chris is HANDS-​DOWN THE BEST PET SITTER IN NYC! He is loving, affectionate, playful and has your dogs safety in mind at all times. He also has his own dog, and you can see how much he loves him, so you know that he understands that it’s a family member and he goes above and beyond to make sure your dog is happy (in my case, Chris lets my pup sleep in his bed and cuddle up next to him, which is not the easiest, as my pup tends to dominate the bed and leave you with a little corner, so that was super comforting to know that Chris didn’t mind).
He has dog walkers and pet sitters across Manhattan, so if you’re in need of the best care for your favorite pet — Bark Ave. Dog Walkers is the only place to call.
The long versions is…
I’m an overly protective pet parent and my mini-​poodle means everything to me — and I’m very protective of him and expect him to be treated the same way I do — that means plenty of love, affection, attention and playtime! My pup is also very sensitive and needs to be in a home environment when I go out of town (he is not the boarding kind).
So, I had two trips coming up and read such wonderful reviews about Bark Ave. Dog Walkers that I decided to give them a try. So Chris and I met one night after work with our pups so we could see how they interacted together and of course, so I could make sure that my guy responded well to Chris too. My pup, who usually barks at guys, immediately ran over to Chris, with his tail wagging — no barking — he just wanted to be near Chris — okay, great sign!
So we had our first overnight and everything went great — Chris sent me photo messages of my little guy hanging out, on walks and regularly checked-​in letting me know all was well :-)
The next trip a few days later was for 4 days and I was out of the country. I was so nervous but knew that Chris had everything under control. We agreed that once a day he would text message me an update… and not only did Chris send me a daily update, but he also emailed me photos of my little pup — running around Central Park, the dog park, on walks and of course, napping too after all that fun!
The reality is, knowing that Chris had everything under control and that my little guy was being taken care of, is the reason I was able to enjoy myself on vacation.
So, needless to say, I’ll be using Bark Ave. Dog Walkers all the time! And I assure you that my little guy will be just as happy to hear that too :-)

Huge thanks to Bark Ave for looking after our little one while we are away at work!
We’ve been using Bark Ave since October 2011 and have been incredibly impressed with their treatment of our dog Chai. While the transition of moving to the city was difficult for our dog, Chris and his staff were able to provide a safe and nurturing environment that allowed her to ease into it. They go above and beyond the call of duty in last minute scenarios and are always looking out for Chai’s well being.
Last Thursday is a perfect example of the quality service one would get with Bark Ave. Chris stopped by to give Chai an evening walk and dinner since my husband and I had to go to a company event that I was hosting. We had friends in town for the event and forgot to let them know not to lock the top lock. Unfortunately they did and Chris and Chai got locked out. :(Knowing that we were away, Chris volunteered to keep her until we got home and we didn’t pick her up until 11 at night!!!
