History

Established in 1994.

In 1994, Michael Barasch and Jim McGarry decided to pool their resources and experience as New York accident lawyers. We formed the law firm of Barasch & McGarry, PC. From the beginning, our firm has concentrated our practice on helping permanently injured accident victims. The firm prides itself on helping its clients deal with a great deal of problems that are commonly encountered following a life-​changing accident. These areas include dealing with medical bills, mortgage or rent payments, finding competent medical help, and investigating the accident to determine who was responsible. Witnesses must be identified and interviewed so as to preserve their testimony for later use.

As our firm grew, so did our realization of the importance of our two most valuable assets. In 2000, the firm was proud to announce that personal injury attorneys Barry Salzman and Dom Penson had become partners.

After over a decade of trying major personal injury cases, I joined forces with Jim McGarry, one of my law school classmates. We have won hundreds of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of thousands of accident victims, many of them catastrophically injured. There is no more gratifying feeling than when a jury awards an amount of money that will change a client’s life forever. We have been lead counsel in several multi-​plaintiff litigations.
