History
Established in 2009.
Back to Function Physical Therapy opened its doors in New York City in May of 2009. Oscar felt that they could bring the highest level of physical therapy and wellness services to the New York City community in a cost-effective manner. The Fifteen years of treating and running offices throughout New York introduced a cost effective model of treating patients in less time by addressing faulty movement patterns responsible for the patient’s condition. Our Model is based on client instruction on efficient movement principles in an integrated treatment model.

Oscar F. Alvarez, PT, received his Physical Therapy degree from Florida International University in 1997. In addition Oscar is currently seeking his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Simmons College (2011). Oscar has completed extensive training in manual therapy and spinal manipulation courses from the University of St. Augustine, Trigger Point courses, courses from the Institute of Physical Arts, and is currently completing his Pilates certification (October 2011), TMJ certification (2012), planning his certification in Active Release Therapy (ART) in (2012) and is certified in Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), performing over 250 FCE’s to date. Oscar specializes in pathologies involving spinal dysfunction as well as treatment of other orthopedic and sports injuries. His multi-faceted approach, including joint manipulation, myofascial release, McConnell taping, MWM’s (movement with mobilization), and Pilates is geared towards patient independence.
