Verandas Beach House

My husband and I had our wedding here on ¹¹⁄₁₅ and we could not be happier with how everything turned out! Our family and friends are still raving at how beautiful everything was and how incredible the venue is. We worked with Angie and at every step of the way, she made sure we had everything we needed for our big day. Angie took the time to price out the cost of our wedding based on different days of the week and times of the day. A big perk for us was that we could bring in our own alcohol. Angie made our wedding day absolutely incredible and she was so easy to work with!

Verandas was such an easy choice for us, and we are so, so glad we decided to have our wedding there. It’s hard to say which part of this venue is the best. The food was wonderful (people were raving about it after), the outdoor ceremony area was gorgeous, the weather was amazing and the staff were phenomenal.
The staff at Verandas play a very large part in how happy I was with the whole planning process and how smoothly everything went the day of. We could not have done it without them. Our coordinator, Lauren, is absolutely fabulous at what she does and was so personable and wonderful from start to finish. She helped us customize our menu, answered my 7 million questions in a very timely fashion, and helped us bring our wedding day vision to life. I don’t think we ever heard her say that something wasn’t doable, and that spirit is exactly what you need when working with brides (and grooms!) Lauren was amazing on the day of the wedding and helped with set up and everything behind the scenes; if anything ever went wrong that day, I wouldn’t have known.
The venue itself is beautiful and just a few blocks from the beach. The outdoor ceremony area is gorgeous and the dining room and upstairs area are spacious and beautiful. They have air conditioning (very important July-​October) and a great sound system, multiple bathrooms, and an elevator.
The food! We got to enjoy one of the NYFC tastings, which was really helpful in choosing the food and seeing what the service is like. Wedding food can sometimes be hit or miss, but we were very, very pleased with how the food turned out the day of and other people complimented it as well.
I have zero complaints about this venue and would highly recommend it, you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful venue. I grew up in the South Bay and wanted to get married in the South Bay– but so does everyone else in the country, which makes everything more expensive. Verandas worked with our budget, we had a small wedding, and it was the perfect setting. There is an outdoor garden, indoor dining room, and an upstairs dance floor. I had some older folks who used the elevator, so the stairs are not a problem. The food is good– there are lots of options so you can find something that fits with your wedding. On the day of my wedding, right when my husband and I arrived for the reception, the coordinator set us up in a private room to relax and they brought us a plate of appetizers to make sure we ate something. It was nice to be able to just chill for a bit (and eat!) before going outside with everyone else. Overall a great place. I just took off a star because at one point they forgot to turn on the lights so the dance floor was a bit too dark for a while. And they forgot the gluten-​free meal we asked for (just one guest). But that’s understandable. I still highly recommend this place.

This place is so nice and chill. From the valet staff to the host, everyone has been very attentive to my needs as well as the needs of all the guests.
The ceremony was held outside in a beautiful courtyard. Although the sun shined brightly, the temp stayed nice and mild near the water. The surrounding vegetation and waterfall made for a very serene exchange of vows that made the ladies cry their eyes out.
If I could choose a few words to sum up the venue, I’d use CHILL, OPEN SPACE, CLEAN, and WELL MANAGED.

I had my wedding here on 9÷5÷14 so my review is a little late. To start with the pros, the venue was very nice. I loved the hanging lights in the garden area that was put up only a week or two before my wedding so I was very pleased with that. The overall set up of the venue is great because there’s a separate garden/​outdoor area to have the ceremony, downstairs reception area and upstairs area for the dancing. I appreciated that the venue allowed my florist to come set up a little early since he was just by himself. The bartenders were very nice and made me my own little cocktail mix throughout the night and always made sure I had a drink in my hand.
Throughout the planning process, I was getting helpful responses and advice from the wedding coordinator, Lauren. I was a a little disappointed that she wasn’t at my rehearsal, but another person filled in Angie who was nice. However, I was assured that Lauren would be present on my wedding day I did not mind.
On the day of, I did not really see much of Lauren. Angie was the other coordinator who was in charge of cue-​ing everyone to walk down the aisle. I felt like there was no one to lead guests to the upstairs area after dinner or to cue the deejay to make the announcement for guests to come upstairs. Since I was not sure who was supposed to do that, my husband was gathering guests and I had to tell the deejay. My last complaint and probably biggest was that half my guests did not get to eat the cake. I cut the cake and it was not brought out until the end when almost everyone was gone. I had a lot of family member say they left before the cake was being passed out because it took so long. I had to have my sister go find someone and ask where the hell the cake was. In fact I didn’t ever taste my own cake. I understand there are hiccups on your wedding so maybe these were mine, but I was upset because I felt that it could have been avoided.
Overall, I still think the venue is beautiful and has a great location close to the beach without directly being on the sand. I would still highly recommend this place to anyone getting married who wants a beach venue. I was very relaxed throughout the planning process so my only advice is to be clear (and maybe more mirco-​managy) on what you want on your day of so that you get what you want.

Nice little wedding venue for smaller to medium events. Conveniently close to the beach, but not right on the beach as its name may suggest. Friendly staff and nice set up. As a suggestion, you can use the upstairs lounge area as a place to hang out with a talkative toddler who hasn’t learned what an inside voice is yet… They broadcast into the room upstairs, and they can’t hear you from the room.

We got married at the beach on September 29, 2014. Angie and Lauren are amazing. It was our dream wedding and they made it possible. From one year of advanced planning, to the taste testing, to advice that they gave, we highly recommend Verandas :-) Food is so amazing our guests love it until now. The garden, the reception area, the beach, the second floor, everything was perfect. All our family and friends said it’s the most beautiful wedding they’ve attended. Go get married here!!!

Came here last week for an event as a focus group attendee. The location was nice, the parking was ok, it could use more for a larger event. The inside upstairs was beautiful with tons of windows. I would not mind having an event here. Check out the photos!

I got married at Verandas in October 2014. We had about 100 guests attend (80% from out of town) and I have nothing but fabulous things to say about the Verandas establishment and the staff that my husband and I worked with for over 9 months of planning.
The grounds at Verandas are stunning. We got married at sunset in the courtyard, and had dinner inside and the reception upstairs. All in one location = easy for everyone! We had several of our guests comment on how perfect the location was –both aesthetically and location-​wise (near hotels, bars, and the beach). Verandas recently added string lights to the outside area– which everyone loved. They changed the ambiance of our cocktail /​photos hour from a dark courtyard, to a chic, lighted and fun atmosphere!
Our coordinator was Angie Bryant — she was excellent. She guided us each and every step of the way, made everything seem effortless and easy– and executed it FLAWLESSLY!!! Thank you Angie!!! And thank you to the staff who worked our night — you guys knocked it out of the park.
We brought in our own alcohol to the venue, as a lot of places do not allow you to do– but we did. Aside from that, the food was excellent and I had plenty of comments from guests on how good dinner was.
All in all, I wouldn’t have changed a thing for my special day. It went off without a hitch — and it never hurts that the weather in Manhattan Beach won’t ever let you down — sunny and 75 in October!

My neighbors got married and held their wedding ceremony and reception here. It’s a cute little establishment almost at the corner of Rosecrands and Highland.
The wedding ceremony was set up for about 120 people, which comfortably fit nicely outside. The grounds are clean and well maintained. There is even a waterfall that has beautiful plants and fish. The outdoors are beautiful!
HUGE kudos go to Lauren and her team who coordinated an amazing wedding. They paid attention to every detail and executed like pros! I liked how they were very flexible and patient with everyone (including the anxious immediate family members). Thank you! You all deserve a raise!
The inside area includes a reception area /​bar /​dancefloor on the top level, with the main dining area downstairs. Everything is clean an immaculately maintained.
Recommended for weddings!!!

Lauren and the team at Verandas are AMAZING! The venue is gorgeous and the day of was beyond anything i could have hoped for. If you are looking for a unique space that is simply breathtaking look no further. We opted for the beach ceremony and it was truly flawless. Lauren even coordinated the seagulls to fly in at the most surreal timing ;) The day was everything and i just wish we could do it all again!

My wife and I got married at Verandas June 2014, and it could not have been a more perfect venue for our big day. I actually work in the wedding industry and have worked at hundreds of wedding venues, and Verandas was the only place we visited. We knew it was perfect, so no need for other visits. Our coordinator, Lauren Harvey, is the best! She kept our sanity throughout the whole wedding planning process with her professionalism, dependability, and positive attitude. We also worked with Angela and Mike who were both great and instrumental in providing us with a perfect wedding day. Aside from the beautiful view we had at our Beach Ceremony, one of our favorite highlights is the food from New York Food Company, which is top notch.
Overall, Verandas made our wedding perfect and all of our guests were impressed with everything and let us know it was the most beautiful and fun wedding they’ve been too! Thanks again Verandas!

This review is much overdue. I got my married at Verandas last August and it was amazing.
I fell in love with Verandas the very first time I stepped inside the gates. The venue is immaculately kept — the garden is gorgeous, the dinner reception area is clean and beautiful, and the upstairs dancing/​patio area is simply gorgeous. It is absolutely stunning in person — the quintessential southern california wedding venue — and photographs beautifully.
We were so happy to get to work Lauren during our wedding planning process. She was always calm, collected, and on top of all the little details we cared about. After going through a few friend’s weddings and seeing how things can quickly get off track, I can confidently say that our wedding was less stressful because of Lauren.
The food was fantastic, the bar was a hit (what open bar isn’t?), but really at the end of the day what Verandas has that others doesn’t is natural beauty, a California casual upscale feel, and a fantastic staff. You couldn’t be in better hands.

My husband and I would like to recognize Lauren and the team at Veranda’s for such an amazing wedding day! We had such a great time with minimum stress. Lauren and Angela played a large part in making our wedding and reception so special.
Lauren is a big reason we chose Veranda’s as our venue. From the moment we met her we felt she was very personable as well as professional and that we were in good hands. Throughout the course of planning Lauren has been very responsive and always answered any and all of our questions.
The wedding party was very grateful that Lauren set up a rehearsal the night before as it calmed any fears we may have had for the next day.
The ceremony went off without a hitch and was even better than we could have imagined thanks to Lauren and Angela directing us. We were able to focus on our vows and the actual ceremony without worrying about the small details because they were already taken care of. The reception was awesome and the servers were very friendly to our guests. We even heard how servers would call guests by name; they really liked that personal touch. Everyone enjoyed the delicious meals that the New York Food Company served as well as the passed appetizers and late night bites (Yummy!) The tables were decorated beautifully as well as the upstairs entertainment area.
Thank You Lauren and Verandas! We would recommend this venue to anyone that wants to have a great wedding experience!

My life long friend (since childhood) had his wedding and reception here. A nice little venue and stuff.
The ceremony was held outside in that little courtyard and the reception was held inside.
So the ceremony went fast (Do you take this man to be your husband blah blah blah). Caught up with old friends here too. There was an open bar at this event too. (my buddy’s parents told me that they had left over alcohol that they order) I had one Sam Adams and that was it (I’m not a fan of alcohol and I hate feeling dehydrated afterwards). I just gave the bartender a 1 dollar tip.
So they had finger food after the ceremony like chicken/​Eggo waffles I don’t remember the rest. But they served the finger food upstairs that had a dance floor and a mini fire place if I recall. The dinner portion was held downstairs. One complaint was it is kinda tight down there because there were a lot of tables.
The DJ is another story/​review.
The dinner: It was chicken, fish, or beef which included veggies and potatoes. I would like to compliment the wait staff because my buddy’s ex-​girlfriend exchanged her plate of chicken for fish. Good deal.
All in all, I had a good time.

(5 stars for atmosphere) Came to this place with my fiancée because his was performing here. It’s a nice place, modern décor with a touch of craftsmen warmth.
For musicians the room upstairs is very very live, so arrive early for a proper sound check.
(2 stars) The food was ok. The tri tip was cooked nicely, the chicken really dry, the veggies undercooked, and the potatoes were good (something I could’ve have made at home)
The service was good though :) the ladies were very friendly that’s why I’m giving this place 4 stars overall.

My dream venue. I knew this hidden gem was it the moment I walked in.
I was married at Verandas 10÷18÷13. As someone who worked 6+ years in the restaurant industry, I can tell you The New York Food Company is genius for running events at La Venta Inn & Verandas. Days after my wedding I was still receiving compliments about how amazing the food was (& the open bar service)! I opted for food stations: carving, pasta & grilled cheese sandwiches. NYFC takes comfort food & makes it sophisticated & tasty. You won’t get boring wedding food at Verandas.
Lauren Harvey was all I needed. She will go through everything with you throughout the planning process. I mean everything: menu, to linens, ceremony details, décor suggestions, etc. Lauren is warm & authentic, something I valued greatly considering how phony wedding vendors can be. Best of all, she’s flexible & reassures you whatever you need will be taken care of. The day of my wedding everything was exactly as we had discussed. There is a certain calmness that comes with being able to trust in the staff at Verandas, knowing you’re taken care of.
Verandas is amazing. It has character & a contemporary cottage feel. The garden is beautiful year round & you can’t beat walking down the staircase for your grand entrance. The fireplace upstairs & the lounge area full of windows is something you just don’t see very often. Pictures online don’t do it justice – you have to visit in person.
I honestly have nothing but the best to say about Verandas & The New York Food Company. Even down to the day after the wedding they had helped pack ALL our décor up nicely, & sent us home with leftover food and a bottle of champagne! It’s hard to find time for food & drinks during your wedding! :) I appreciated such a thoughtful gesture.

I’m writing about Verandas from a guest perspective, not as someone who has planned an event here. My company had a cocktail hour at Verandas.
As a South Bay native, I am shocked that I never knew about this place. If I had known about it and if it was even remotely in my price range, I would have LOVED to have my wedding reception here. This place is just GORGEOUS!!!
Verandas is off Rosecrans (cross street is Highland), and I’ve probably driven past it 300 times in my life. It’s situated just off the road, though, so it’s hidden enough to be perfect for a private event. There is ample parking in the back for guests.
You enter through a beautiful garden and then the building is what looks like a two story Victorian house. I didn’t get a very good look downstairs, but upstairs there is a beautiful view of the ocean, a fireplace, and just a fantastic ambiance.
The food that we had passed was beef sliders (delicious), shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, and prosciutto wrapped dates. The favorite was by and large the beef sliders. We had a beer and wine only bar, and a DJ in the corner.
Depending on what kind of ambiance you want, this could be a plus or minus: Because there is an outside area, an upstairs and a downstairs, there was plenty of space, but that also meant that guests were separated. If you want a group of people to be able to wander and mingle, then this is great! If you want to keep people in the same room, this could be difficult to navigate. There were people at the party whom I never even saw because they were downstairs.
Overall, Verandas is gorgeous, but I heard pricey (I didn’t see the cost myself). As a guest, I really enjoyed my experience here.

Yay for this place. I came here for a wedding reception and was really impressed. The food here is excellent. They give a very healthy good sized serving of food. I had their prime flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce and it was soooo good. The steak was huge. Some of the others sitting at my table chose the trout for their meal and this looked really impressive too. To compliment the meal they also had an awesome bread basket with different types of bread :) and a tasty salad with lil walnuts and apples. Good stuff indeed!
Aside from an awesome main course, this wedding reception place also had excellent desserts. The reception I went too had a beautiful Italian dessert buffet. It was so impressive that I had to take pictures of the display. The best thing in the buffet was the cannoli. Any place that has cannoli definitely gets a bonus star :). The wedding cake was awesome too — chocolate cake and carrot cake. Yum! (On a side note: the bride mentioned this place had many different choices for the wedding cake and they all sounded soooo good!)
Lastly, I really liked how this place set up the reception. Outdoors was an open bar that had cute little lights and plant all around. There was also some stairs outside that the bride and groom along with the bridal party came down from. Inside there was a first floor where all the tables were at and then there was a second floor with athe dance floor, a cake area, another bar and some couches for the guests.
It truly is a hidden gem. Who knew that on busy Rosecrans there would be hidden such a great place for a reception. Plenty of parking space outside. too My, my was I impressed :)
