Sand Spa

Great local spa! Went here yesterday for a couples massage for Valentine’s Day. We both had a wonderful massage and the I had literally the best scalp massage ever from a therapist whose name starts with a D. I want to say it’s Dion or Dayonah but I know that’s wrong.
Anyway, for the price– it’s actually a pretty fair service. We didn’t get a chance to go in the back to see whether they had a steam room or jacuzzi (we were running late), but from what I could tell this is more of a no frills place. I tend to prefer going to a full service luxury spa like the Four Seasons or Terrenea, but this would be a good substitute for a place like Massage Envy or Just Massage studio.
Quality of service was excellent — the only knock was that the bottom of our feet weren’t wiped down after the massage, leaving us a little oily.
Would recommend it to a friend or go back, if I didn’t want to make a day of a spa visit.

I had a Swedish massage from Terry and it was absolutely wonderful. Although is was only 60 minutes, it felt like much longer because I enjoyed every minute. I’m very empathic so the personality & mentality of the masseuse effects me greatly. Terry is accepting, healing and very thoughtful. I will definitely go back!

The best spa experience I have ever had. I’ve been to both locations and love them both. I can’t rave enough about the quality of services here, I normally get a 60min Swedish /​Deep Tissue combo. It’s a block from the beach and the best bang for my buck. The spa is clean and inviting and the services are comparable to no one else’s in terms of quality and price, they really have a great thing going on. You won’t be disappointed.

I had a massage here yesterday and it was great. Anna gave a very relaxing 60 min Swedish massage. The pressure was perfect, I notice at some other places the therapists are too rough when I ask for a therapeutic massage. Anna was very intuitive and knew exactly where to focus, she took care of every ache I had. I loved that the bed was heated and there was soothing music playing, overall it was a great experience.

First time here after a Crossfit competition. So let’s just say I woke up on Monday and my everything was hurting.
With the help of Unilocal I was able to find this place and with my luck I found they had an appointment for 11 am that same day. It was a weekday but still surprised that they had a lot of open slots. Booking was really easy and I chose to go in for a well needed sports massage.
Parking is not that bad at that time of the day, but later on the day or in summer it might be a little hard to find a spot in the street to park.
Walked in and was greeted with a big smile from the woman in the front desk. I signed a small form, she asked me if I needed anything special worked on, offered me water, restroom and told me to take a seat.
Between a minute my masseuses came to greet me. I got so lucky that I found the right place at the right time. Terry worked wonders on my poor injured body, she applied the right pressure and made sure that it was the right amount of pressure that I needed. Soft music playing on the background and deemed lights for total relaxation.
Great experience and found me a nice clean place to go and relax as I get all my nots worked out.
I cannot recommend this place enough!

My experience at both Manhattan and Hermosa Beach were absolutely fabulous and super duper relaxing. Not only are the locations amazing and a few steps away from the sand, they also manage to keep that relaxing beach vibe throughout the spa.
Liz…thank you for the AWESOME stretching and Eloisa thank you for getting all the knots out of my back after thinking I could do an advanced Pilates class… what a joke!!! Gretchen, thank you for your lovely hospitality and really making me feel welcomed. Sand spa is definitely my new go-​to spa! I wish you guys the best

WOW! I am so happy that I discovered this place. Everything about Sand Spa in Hermosa Beach is a ⁵⁄₅.
I booked a massage online 2 hours before I went in, which was incredibly convenient. Upon my arrival, the woman at the front desk was so incredibly kind. I booked a 30 minute deep tissue, and she told me for $ 10 more I could get a 60. Count me in. I was even 10 minutes early, so they were willing to start me early.
Terri gave me my massage and I must say– she gave me hands down one of the best massages I’ve ever had. She focused on my problem areas for the full 60 minutes and I feel so much better now. She was very attentive to what I needed and was such a sweet person on top of that.
The pricing here is awesome. Last week I paid 3 x the amount at another spa for a 60 minute deep tissue, and that one did not even come close to todays. Sand Spa Hermosa Beach is definitely my new go to place for my regular massages :)

My boyfriend and I had a 60 minute couples massage. Probably the best one yet. I think I fell asleep half way thru until I turned around. It was affordable, I think we paid $ 139 for both. I like how we got a full bottle of champagne and they treated us very well. I will be back next time we’re in Manhattan Beach!

Sand Spa and Kelly were recommended to me by a friend, and after my second massage last night I am hooked!
Kelly is a wonderful massage therapist. Last night I went into my appointment with some very obnoxious neck pain after sleeping wrong earlier this week. I explained this to Kelly before the appointment, and woke up this morning pain-​free and rejuvenated! Thank you Sand Spa! I am looking forward to coming in again soon =)

I had a hot stone massage at Sand Spa while I was visiting California and all I can say is wow. My massage therapist was Barbie and the woman has hands of magic! I literally left the place feeling like a weight was lifted from my shoulders. I floated to the car… The staff was friendly, warm and very courteous. I cannot say enough good things about this spa and especially Barbie. Not only was the massage amazing, the price was incredibly reasonable. Don’t hesitate to book an appointment here. Whenever I’m in Cali, I will be stopping by Sand Spa for an amazing massage.

Having already visited the Manhattan Beach location and coming away very impressed, I decided to try Sand Spa’s new Hermosa Beach location to see if it was just as good. Here’s my review:
Upon entering the new Hermosa Beach location I immediately noticed how clean it was, just like the Manhattan Beach space. It was also beach branded as well, which was very nice. I talked to the receptionist, Joceline, who was very polite and professional. She answered all my questions and got me checked in quickly for my massage appointment. She also informed me that they were in their soft opening phase. I had a great massage experience at the Manhattan shop so I was hoping it would happen here as well. I got into my room, which was private and relaxing, and waited for my massage therapist to arrive. After a short wait, Liz knocked and came in. She was very pleasant. I explained what I was expecting and how I’ve had a lower back injury from my time in the Army and hoped that she could provide some relief. She told me she was certain that she could and off we went. After an hour deep tissue massage I left feeling amazing. My lower back was feeling a lot better and I felt rejuvenated. I left overly impressed, just as I had at the Manhattan Beach spa. I’m really excited to see what they do with this space after they really get up and running. If you are in the area, I highly recommend either location. You will NOT be disappointed.

This is one of those reviews I’m nervous about writing because I don’t want them to get too popular and fabulous then raise their reasonable prices or to have Caitlin too booked up! But right is right, need to give a great review when it’s deserved!
If you look at my previous reviews, I have a physically demanding job and have gotten massages frequently, and often, all over this town and country. Googled for a local neighborhood joint last week because I was worried about traffic on a Friday to BW Santa Monica, and am I glad I did! They were able to fit me in with Caitlin, and she worked on my knots like no one has done in ages! So much so, for the first time in my life, I went back to the same therapist one week later! I purchased a very reasonable package and am fresh from my second massage with her, relaxed and happy. Caitlin has 6 years experience, has a great, friendly attitude and gives a great massage. I like deep but I’ll be sending my husband to her for a swedish!
Clean, nice location. All 5 stars.

Pros: Friendly staff.
Prices are reasonable and they do have specials if you want to save a few $$.
Knots beware: This is my first time so my back had quite a few knots, Robin did an outstanding job rubbing them out.
Clean and efficient for limited space they have.
Cons: Parking, recommend getting there a little early so you can find parking. There is a parking structure a few blocks away. Note: this is not the business fault just the location.

Great session today with Kelly. She attacked the pain in my back with her healing hands. Kelly reminded me: a) book often or b) book for 90mins if come in once every 3 months ;) I agree! Happy to bring my boyfriend in to let Caitlyn work her magic with a deep tissue massage. He was so happy she was able to effectively releave his stress. We were stoked to hear they will be opening their couples massage room this week! We’ll be back before 2015!

I purchased the 90 min deep tissue couples massage for my girlfriends bday. We were visiting from Miami, so I relied heavily on Unilocal reviews. The reviews were so good that i was somewhat skeptical, buy Sand Spa delivers. Gretchen was super accommodating and Robin gave me the best massage of my life. This place is absolutely a must for bday gifts, or just to destress after a busy couple weeks. We will be back next time we are in LA.

Less than a day after writing my review, I received a call from «Gretchen» who is one of the owners of The Sand Spa. She went on to apologize for the cancelation and went into depth explaining the situation and expressed that I am valued as a client. Gretchen also went ahead and invited me back to get a complimentary facial for the trouble, and she also added a couple other perks. I was indeed surprised and excited that Gretchen reached out to me to clear the air because I was so in love with the vibe I felt at the Sand Spa. I am in love with Kelly who does massages, and I’m ecstatic to see how this facial works out, with HOPES that I can get all my pampering needs met at The Sand Spa!!!

This place is killing it! I went in there for my birthday to get a massage that my wife had set up for me. Because she felt bad about being gone on my birthday, she told the staff what was happening. They really helped make my birthday very special.
Of course the massage was amazing, but when you have a place go above and beyond to provide amazing customer appreciation, well you know they folks there are doing right things right.
Thank you to everyone at Sand Spa for helping me feel so special on my birthday. A special thanks to Megan and Gretchen, the birthday gift was such an unexpected and amazing surprise. Thank you!

Proud to say I was one of the very first customers at this new spa on Highland; and will definitely be a repeat customer. It was their grand opening today so I got a massage by Carmen — 60 minutes for only $ 49. This was only a special price for their opening but their website has the prices listed and very much worth it. Only had a few other massages at spas in the past but this one certainly combined a high end feel with a good massage and cost a lot less than other places.
Other than that not a bad location and they make the most of the spot. Also the girl who greeted me out front was very helpful — gotta give em points for that!
