One Wave Surf School offers private, semi-​private, and coaching lessons for all levels of surfers who are serious about learning to surf or improve their surfing skills. Lesson locations are customized to where the waves are the best for you, from El Porto, Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, Malibu, up to County Line.

We only teach privates and semi private groups, meaning you get the attention you need in the ocean. 1pp = $ 100, 2ppl $ 160, 3ppl $ 210. This price includes use of our wetsuits and Surftech Softtop surfboards, which are considered the best and safest for learning. Feel free to check out our website for even more information.

If you are in the market for a new board, One Wave Surf Shack, located near the corner Pico and Fairfax in west los angeles, offers a wide variety of refurbished boards and surf equipment available for sale at the garage workshop. Surfboard recycling is an environmentally and cost friendly way to surf good quality boards. Students often get their boards from Tyler because he knows their skills and needs, and he can recommend one to you, too!

History

Established in 2003.

The founder, Tyler Trafas, is a Los Angeles local with over 15 years of surfing experience. He came up with the idea over a decade ago, during a summer break as a school teacher, repairing surfboards in his garage. He recognized that countless surfboards being thrown away or incinerated could easily be restored to full-​use. He began buying and refurbishing surfboards, creating an eco-​friendly business: high-​quality boards at low cost while keeping considerable synthetic materials out of the landfills and atmosphere.

Tyler discovered that many clients requested surf lessons. Utilizing his Masters degree in education, Tyler developed distinct training programs: a comprehensive course to develop serious, independent surfers, and a one-​day class providing the rush of riding a wave. Tyler has been teaching to a wide age range in private and small group sessions for over six years.

One Wave Surf School also provides advanced coaching, surf guides, and surf-​oriented Yoga instruction.

Business Owner

Tyler earned a Master’s in Education and has over 15 years of surfing experience. He has been giving private and small group surf lessons and surf coaching for 12 years to a wide range of ages and skill levels. In addition, he teaches a class on meditation and whole body wellness that incorporates both physical and mental elements of surfing. The surf/​yoga class combines the natural elements of the beach, physical exercise and fun!
