I LOVE Dr. Magovern! I’m 56 and have been on opiates for Fibromyalgia for 9 years. I am now pain free and off the medication! My skin is in amazing condition, with the great care that Dr. Magovern and her staff have provided for me. Her Glow MD products were a key factor! I stopped wearing face make up, yep at my age, and after losing 25lbs, and i get compliments all the time…(I had horrible acne/​scars till @22. So I didn’t have a beautiful complexion to start out with).
I can’t say enough positive things… if you are looking for the latest and greatest in all types of skin care, cosmetic changes… this is where to go, know you’re getting the fairest prices as well the best dermatology professionals. Your face is the first thing anyone see’s, don’t trust anyone but the best professional there is. That’s why Dr. Ashley Macgovern is my dermatologist.

After hearing that they pierce ears, I made an appt for my 5yr old. She’s been wanting to do it for a while now, but I half expected her to change her mind. The staff are very helpful and sweet, the office is pristine. The lady who pierced her ears was so nice, and did an amazing job of helping my daughter feel comfortable! It went so well, I decided to do a double pierce — she fit me in, happily. I’ve heard wonderful things about Dr. Magovern, and the rest of the staff here.

Had booked an appointment nearly a month out. They call me 2 days before to move it because the doctor is out. That’s fine, it happens, but come to find out she is out for 2 weeks. Surely they would have known this prior to 2 days before the appointment? If not, ok, fine. I tried to book with the other doctor but they’re booking 8 – 10 weeks out. When this type of thing happens, you guys need to figure out a better solution than someone waiting at least 2 weeks (probably more) for another appointment. Bad business practice.

A few minutes passed before anyone would acknowledge me standing at the reception desk. Then the doctor prescribed a product that gave me a terrible rash that lasted for two months even though I immediately stopped using the product. On a follow-​up visit I saw the sales rep for that product refilling the sample cabinet. I don’t appreciate that level of influence from a sales rep; the dermatologist is supposed to draw on her own training and expertise to treat patients.

Terrible customer service, office people have not been friendly or accommodating — I scheduled an appointment three months in advance and they cancelled on me. Absolutely ridiculous and unheard of. Never met any of the doctors & according to Unilocal they are okay, but that in itself is a poor practice. I’ll be finding a new dermatologist!

After visiting 3 other dermatologists in the South Bay, I finally found my skin’s perfect match with Dr. Magovern. She is amazing!
I visited her a couple of times for some adult acne and rosacea, and she also zapped a few pretty prominent (in my mirror’s opinion, thank you pregnancy hormones) broken blood vessels on my forehead and cheek. She also removed a mole or millia between my eye and the bridge of my nose.
I was extremely excited (and somewhat emotional) to find that my infertility doctor’s favorite nurse, Carrie, had moved to Dr. Magovern’s office as well! This is a nurse who went through the whole IVF process with me, and had even been the one to give us the news that we were pregnant. When going through my slightly uncomfortable moments in Dr. Magovern’s chair, Carrie was there to hold my hand there as well. Seeing Carrie there just solidified how awesome Dr. Magovern is.
You do have to wait quite a bit to get in to see Dr. Magovern, both with scheduling and in the waiting room, once you are there for the appointment. But she is 100% worth the wait in my opinion.
Our family has moved away from the South Bay, to San Diego county, and although I have driven to see her a couple times, it just doesn’t work that I can get all the way up there with a toddler in tow.
Highly recommend Dr. Magovern!

Her office staff is unusually courteous and professional and you actually get in to see the Doctor at your appointment time! This is a team of caring professionals in a well run office. Dr. Magovern is an amazing dermatologist.
She successfully treated my cystic acne, I’ve had completely clear skin for a couple years now all thanks to Dr Magovern! Dr Magovern also helped get rid of some of my dented scars from my cystic acne with micro needling!
Dr. Magovern has also gone above and beyond to help me deal with an undiagnosed virus that gives me extremely severe, bright red, burning rashes on my arm. Dr. Magovern told me to call the office when my arm flares so they can see me that same day and biopsy the rash.
One morning I woke up with a rash on my arm, called the office and they were able to see me within a couple hours of me calling! Dr. Magovern was able to successfully biopsy my arm while the rash was still very severe. I am so incredibly thankful for that because the rash comes and goes as it pleases and it has been extremely hard to biopsy.
The rash biopsy also gave me more answers towards my diagnosis!
Lovely office staff! Ample parking. Highly recommend Dr. Magovern.

Dr. Magovern saved my skin. For real.
I moved out here from Arizona in 2012 and my skin went completely crazy with breakouts. My roommate referred me to Magovern and I couldn’t be happier. She gave me an inexpensive prescription and within weeks my skin was clear again.
I also love that she recommends optional facial treatments and some of the skin care products sold in office, but she is never pushy about it and always gives you other drugstore alternatives. I will say, after trying out one of their cleansers, I can see the difference. It is a little pricey though so not something I use every day.
Another plus… the office is clean and cute and parking is plentiful!
I’ve recommended her to several girls in my office and everyone has had a great experience.

One of my very dear friends referred me to Ashley McGovern and I was very pleased!
My regular derm was out of town on holiday and I had a mini-​facial emergency. Dr. McGovern squeezed me in and was fantastic. The staff was professional and very friendly and Dr. McGovern has a polished, professional and calming demeanor. I’m very sensitive if my face and skin aren’t at it’s best and she did a great job dealing with my nervous chatter.
She was positive, constructive and carefully listened to my concerns. I was prescribed a few items so now I just have to wait for them to take effect!
Definitely recommend a visit here!

I have never been to a dermatologist that I thought was a specialist in their field… until I met Dr. Magovern. She is the best in her field (and I have been to several). I cannot say enough about how wonderful she is. She knows how to treat problems associated with skin, immediately, not in five months of troubleshooting. My experience in the past has been with dermatologists who push their product line or who are more interested in «fillers» and Botox, but have no idea how to treat a skin problem. That is not the case with Dr. Magovern. She is kind and has a wonderful bedside manner. If you need a dermatologist don’t go anywhere else. Believe me because I have been to numerous dermatologists over the years.
I highly recommend her. Her office staff is warm and friendly, and her esthetician, Cathy, is great, as well.

I brought my 16 year old daughter to see Dr Magovern. I am so impressed with every aspect of this professional, spa like, clean and friendly dermatology business. We were called immediately after finishing our paper work. I went to pick up a magazine and literally had no time to even open it before the Dr came in. A doctors office that cares about other peoples time, one of a kind. Not to mention every single person there was smiling. I cannot say enough about this Dr office. Do not hesitate for one second to come here, you will not be disappointed.

I’m always so happy to come here — this place is my spa-​like retreat! I had moderate acne for several years and Manhattan Dermatology is the first derm to pretty much clear my skin. I’ve visited several dermatologists in my time and they were always unpleasant experiences — cold/​quick doctors who over-​prescribed me harsh products that further ruined my skin. I’ve tried everything from Duac to Accutane and nothing was ever suitable for me — plus the side effects were scary. This never happened with Dr. Magovern — she’s worked really hard to make sure I’m responding to all of the treatments, and is happy to quickly adjust to find exactly what works for me. My solution involved a combination of light therapy, peels, antibiotics, and various topicals. The results have been epic.
The office staff is also great. They all know me by name and I feel welcome and comfortable when I arrive. They are witty, fun, and always run on time (which definitely isn’t the case for me, but they’re pretty cool about it). As everyone else said, this office is super clean, high-​tech, and state of the art. They’ve also been great about working with my insurance to get most of my treatments covered — including peels, etc. I have never experienced this at any other doctor. Thanks Manhattan Dermatology! :)
