Manhattan Beach Badminton Club

This is the most private and oldest club for badminton here in California. You have to be invited to play. You have to be recommended to initiate into the process of being evaluated to be a member. With that being said this is also original badminton club where their club tournament turned into the now prestigious BWF Yonex US Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold.
So yea, it does take some work to play here, but once your inside they have 5 badminton courts featuring original wooden flooring with grippy paint. Besides the courts there’s a beautiful lounge area with a big fireplace and display case of all the historic occasions, trophies, and pictures of Olympic team members for badminton. They have a full restroom, locker, and shower area. They have a full kitchen in case members want to cook up a storm. They also have a swimming pool with BBQ area. This is the nicest badminton club I have been to…

Manhattan Beach’s best kept secret. We lived near it for over 10 years before we really knew where or what it was. We love being members. It was well worth the 4 year wait!

i just moved in here in LA, but im not a resident of Manhattan, so when I found this badminton club i finally got excited and called anyone whos a member of this club and hope to become a member too, unfortunately, you just cant become a member right away, you have to be in a waiting list. I talked to the member and he said he would meet me there at the court, went there all the way from
Gardena with my husband whos very supportive of me with our one year old daughter on a stroller, only to find out that he stood me up and a lady told me, something like, i have to be a manhattan resident and its not easy to become a member there. i was frustrated, thought and felt like im beig descriminated. i guess truth hurts but its a fact. but what i know is that its not my loss, its theirs because they just lost a good player after all, i left the premises heavy-​hearted because the guy whom i talked to didn’t respect me as a person and stood me up.

I spent a weekend in MB and I came here to watch the gf play in a badminton tournament. This establishment was started in the 30’s but it was built up over the years. It sits on a hill in some prime MB local.

I spent two summers here playing tournaments against players from all over the world and I was wonderfully surprised by the warmth and generosity of the people here.
I only came because a girl I met in San Francisco was a member here and she invited me to play in a tournament held every summer at MBBC. This is the kind of club I’d love to join, bring my (as of yet nonexistent) children to every weekend, and the place where I could see myself relaxing by the pool on a day off.
Don’t know much about the dues but the courts are nice and the coaching is great. For you non-​badminton players, it’s a great place to bring the fam!

I was invited to a party at the MB Badminton Club, and thought … a what?
As it turns out, this is a very serious and nice facility. We were there for a party, but we also got to tour around the facility. They have a great area of courts, a badminton pro (there is a lot more to the game than your backyard version), and beautiful pool area.
Talking to some of the members, a lot just join for the pool facilities with their families.
