Fantastic stylists in a great, low-​key and friendly environment! Love everyone there, but special shout out to the lovely Kristen and fabulous Harmony. I got lucky with a referral from a good friend, but now I would never go anywhere else. My family members sometimes go when in town from Michigan – these ladies (and Nick) are the best!

For years I was in search of a great stylist who not only could cut, but color my thick, course, mind-​of-​its-​own Asian hair. It wasn’t until I found Niki Voltattorni at Hush Hush, now at Hush Up, that I fell in love with not just my hair cut and color, but Niki and her helpful suggestions and guidance for what would look best with my hair type, face shape and personality. She is always honest and her opinions are always genuine. I can finally trust someone to give me what I want, even when I go in not knowing what I want! The beautiful salon is fun, hip and everyone is beyond friendly and welcoming. Thank you Niki, I’d probably be walking the South Bay streets with bleached out, damaged locks if it wasn’t for you!

Niki Voltatorni is my stylist and is absolutely wonderful! I spent 3 years searching for a stylist after moving from Boston and was repeatedly disappointed. When I arrived in her chair almost 5 years ago, my hair was fried and needed serious help. She repaired my hair and my self confidence! She is an excellent colorist, correcting my hair the first visit and continuing to give me gorgeous blonde. Her cuts are excellent. Since I have curly hair, but like to wear it both curly and straight, she «dry cuts» mine and I have never been happier. It always falls well no matter which way I style it.
This May, Niki was kind enough to travel to Ojai to style my hair for my wedding. She made a nervous day so smooth, styling hair for (and charming) my mom, new mother-​in-​law, sister-​in-​laws, and nieces. She truly brought out everyone’s best. I cannot express how beautiful I felt on my wedding day. My hair was modern, suited my look perfectly, and stayed put all day and night!

I went to NIKI V. for a Brazilian Blowout and she was phenomenal. She was able to take my naturally curly/​frizzie hair and turn it into silky smooth gorgeous hair. I cannot tell you how many compliments I have gotten. I have tried numerous salons but this was by far the best hair treatment I’ve ever had. NIKI spent the extra time in our consultation prior to the treatment and was very​knowledgable and​attentive to my wants and needs. NIKI was also a creative genius when coloring and cutting my hair,​a combination that is difficult to find,​she clearly has a ton of experience with all types of hair. I can’t say enough good things, you’ll leave the salon looking and feeling like a million bucks.

I’ve gone to Niki Voltatorni for the last 3 years of living in the South Bay and I can’t rave enough about her! She has such a welcoming spirit and is such a great time to chat with.
Besides being personable she is absolutely phenomenal at cuts and color! She does my hair, my best girlfriend’s hair, and my fiancé’s hair. She is great with women’s hair as well as men.
My best friend started going to her after someone botched her hair color and completely ruined the integrity of her hair. Niki was able to bring her hair back to life AND achieve the original hair inspiration my friend wanted before the mishap.
I know tons of women who have hired Niki for wedding and event hair, as well… Main point here is that if you’re looking for a new hair stylist/​colorist and you don’t know where to turn, or if you’re tired with constantly feeling like you’re never achieving the epic hair you could have– trust your head to Niki!

I’ve been going to Niki V. for years. I’m not an easy customer — I came to her with someone else’s highlighting disaster, which also fried my hair. She was able to correct it without harming my hair even more, and has been doing a spectacular job with really natural highlights that grow out without noticeable roots. Niki is an absolute color expert and I won’t trust anyone else now.

Despite not being given very clear instructions on what I wanted, Kellie delivered the perfect cut. It’s the type of haircut that makes you want to strut around and show it off-​she is amazing at what she does and a pleasure to spend time with while she’s working her magic. I’d recommend her to anyone!

Great salon. Wonderful, talented stylists. Harmony cuts and colors my wife’s hair, and it’s never looked more natural. Nick is my stylist of choice for men. Considering the fact the you would need to go to Beverly Hills to get this quality of hair care, it’s worth the MB parking challenges. They will even feed the meter if you ask.

PAIGE is the BEST! Beyond stoked about my new transformation. I went from very long brown hair to very short blonde hair. All I had to do was show her a picture and she meticulously worked on it for 4 hours and with a smile! She is adorable and has a bubbly personality. The whole experience was pleasant. I even got to donate 10 inches of my hair to charity. Today was a good day. Thank you Paige and all the kind staff at Hush!

Kristin Anthony is terrific! Prior to finding Kristin — gosh at least 8 years ago — I would go to a stylist, be happy with the cuts (and later color) and styling for a time, and then it would seem that as time passed, the stylist would get bored or lose interest in doing my hair and I’d start getting bad cuts and/​or service — double booking too much during my appointment time which meant I’d sit around the salon alot longer than necessary (I don’t mind a stylist booking smart so there’s a client getting cut or color application while my color sets — I’m talking about really just being ignored for extended periods). Granted, I might be a boring client in that I don’t go in for periodic dramatic changes, but I do want to be appreciated for my loyalty (and heck, boring is at least easy, right?). Kristin treats me well and with as much respect today as she did on Day 1. She’s a supremely talented colorist and stylist, and, she’s a great and really fun person. I always look forward to appointments not only for the freshening up of my hair, but for good conversation and fun. Oh, and the massage hair wash chairs!

Harmony Hunt is amazing! She color corrected my hair from a brassy orange to a nice clean blonde. So happy with color and haircut. I’m super impressed! Found my new hairdresser! Hush up also has an adorable brow and makeup bar inside called angles and arches. The girls are amazing and it’s super convenient since you are already there for hair. Hush Up is my new go to!

Laura Sikora. has been doing my highlights and cuts for over 3 years now. She is simply awesome — I have had her take my hair to ombré and then back to sun kissed/​surfer blond and she does an amazing job — always natural and pretty. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair I have ended up referring all my friends to her too. She does great work, plain and simple — and I am super picky!. I switched to her after getting my hair done in Beverly Hills for over 15 years. No need for the commute anymore since i have found Laura! She is now actually at HUSH UP — the sister salon to Hush Hush and right next door. Great thing is she also works on Mondays which works well for my schedule!

I love Kristen Anthony– She is the hair zen godess! She was at Hush Hush and is now upstairs at Hush up. She does great color and amazing cuts! 5 stars all the way!

Laura is great she has been coloring and cutting my hair for over a year! Love the personal attention in Hush Up rather than Hush Hush, much smaller salon with only 6 chairs. Took me 3 years after moving to the South Bay from the Valley. I like her so much she cuts my whole family’s hair now!

I come here for Melissa and Melissa only. She has worked in Neil George Salon and I followed her from there. She knows how to do blonde better than any other stylist around. You wont be flat, or dry, or ashy, or washed out, or streaky. She’s a doll and I’m glad I found her. 4 Stars because I get a parking ticket every other time I see her and I’m annoyed… though I guess it’s my fault?! I suggest MB rethink their meters.

Sid @ Hush Up/​Hush Hush is Amazing!!! (He also works at the sister salon Hush Hush on certain days which is a stones throw from Hush Up). Sid is an awesome colorist/​stylist who has years and years of experience and was also formally trained by Vidal Sassoon and even owned his own salon in SF.
Sid cut 8 inches off of my hair and gradually turned my brassy blonde hair into a stunning brown with a mixture of low lights and semi permanent color. I have so much faith in Sid that I just tell him to «make my hair look great» and I always walk out of there with bouncy, soft strands. The salon is great too but I’m not gonna lie, I only go there because Sid is there… If he ever leaves I will surely follow!!!

I have been to over 30 stylists in the South Bay because I am super picky about the way my hair is cut and also the color, which is a two-​step process. Having had many bad experiences, I was about to go to Beverly Hills but thought I’d give it one more chance here. I went to Ric, the owner, based on many positive reviews, figuring that he must be good considering he owned 3 salons. Wrong! First he gave me a 10 minute haircut because he didn’t have time to cut the whole thing properly, and didn’t charge me, which was nice, but I left him a huge tip instead. I’d had a bad haircut before, and he didn’t do much to improve it — it was only slightly better. I would have rather paid full price and had him take his time. He didn’t texturize it at all and my fine hair needs texturizing. On to the color on a different day: I went in and was very specific about how I wanted my color: Medium brown base with very blond highlights. I showed him a blown up photo of my own hair, plus told him what base color to use, as I’ve been doing my own base for years and all was fine with my color until some inexperienced stylist got some greenish tint into my base that 3 stylists now have been unable to get rid of. Ric didn’t do what I asked him to do, but instead did what HE wanted to do, and I let him. Bad decision. He gave me a light brown base and you can barely see any highlights, it just all looks like the same color and still has the greenish tint, for $ 170. I sent him a note that I was not happy with the color and he took great offense and told me to stay out of his shops and go elsewhere. Guess I will go to BH. Hopefully they’re used to dealing with difficult women like me.

I love hush up! Lisa is the greatest. Sometimes I go in and just tell her to do whatever she wants because I totally trust her and know she will have me looking fabulous when I walk out of the salon. Eveyone always comments on how natural my blonde looks.
