History

Established in 2004.

Hush Hush Hair Salon was opened in 2004 on Manhattan Avenue in Manhattan Beach, California. For the past 10 years, our entire staff has strived to provide not only quality services, but also an excellent experience for our guests. We are proud to be a part of such a wonderful community and want to thank you, our amazing guests, for your continued support. Business Owner

Ric Arrigoni, the founder of Hush Hair Salon, Inc. is a long time Manhattan Beach resident. Ric started his first salon back in early 2001. He has since opened two more salons all in downtown Manhattan Beach. Ric has been a stylist for 20 years and has worked in salons in Marina del Rey, Santa Monica, and finally his home Manhattan Beach. He has had a chance to study with some of the world’s finest hairstylists including Luigi Murenu and Orlando Pita. Ric sought out the finest products in the world, Kerastase and Shu Umeura, to enhance his high quality salons. Ric continues to polish his skills at every possible opportunity and leads his staff in the pursuit of higher education. As a successful business owner, Ric feels the need to give back to the community. He and his salons have become involved with numerous charities, including the Walk with Sally Charity, and has created Hush Up with the LA Kings for the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

I recently relocated to the West Coast from New England and needed to find a salon that could replace a long standing relationship back east. There are choices in Manhattan Beach, but I made an appointment at Hush Hush at the recommendation of a Neighbor and could not be more satisfied. I described myself as having full hair that I keep short and very conservative (I may have added that I am very particular!) and the very helpful young women who answered my call was happy to suggest Josh. Upon my arrival we consulted and he listened carefully and willingly. I am happy to say Josh executed flawlessly. He is very deliberate, careful and skilled. He was easy to talk with as he worked and spent the time to get it right.
Hush Hush has a nice, bustling, professional atmosphere with very nice people and great service. This is a quality salon worth the trip.

My brother’s hair stylist at another salon fell ill that day and I needed to get him a haircut before he got back to school! No one else at that salon could help him, so I called Hush Hush in need of a men’s haircut.
The lady on the phone was very nice and clear and helped me get my brother an appointment with Bryan. My brother said he liked Bryan very much. His haircut looked very good and, a few weeks after, it is growing out nicely! All in all, very happy with the service he received.
Re Rick: I am a MB local and I always eat across the street, so when my original hair salon wasn’t available, you guys were the first I thought to try.

I searched for years to find the perfect stylist. I had to leave my regular girl because she moved so far away. Luckily I finally found Stephen at Hush Hush! The first stylist that didn’t make my hair orange. He spends so much time with you and makes sure you love what he does. I even went to Bob Roy (2 of their best stylists and they were pompous and rushed), and I still ended up with orange hair! Thanks Steven for awesome hair color!

I had my hair cut by Josh Fasen recently and I must say its the best hair cut I’ve ever gotten. The skill set Josh has was very impressive and the fact he made my short hair look so modern and feminine was truly impressive! I recommend anyone to book with Josh. Hush Hush is a modern salon with a very cool vibe. I do suggest getting to your appointment early due to lack of parking but hey that’s Manhattan Beach !

I really tried to like this place but unfortunately I had a really bad experience here. I had my roots done here few weeks ago and it looked bad from the beginning but the stylist suggested to come back in a few weeks if I still don’t like it. And of course it just got worse and turned orange. I have brown hair and all I wanted was to color the roots that had white hair so nothing complicated! Of course I called in and made an appointment for 2:30 and I show up for them to tell me the stylist had a ‘doctors appointment’ and is really sorry but he will see me at 3:30, came back at 3:30 and waited for 40 minutes before I was seen and this time I was told he was ‘stuck at the apple store’. After a rushed work the lady who finished the job for him (he had another client) asked if I need my hair blow dried? Really!!! And that’s when I just decided this was it and said no thank you and left.

Go see Bryan! He’s amazing and so fun to talk to while your getting your hair done. I’ve gone to the same girl for years and years in Brentwood but thought I’d try a closer place and I’m so glad I took the chance. Bryan is really good at what he does. I always get so many complements. He’s a Master at the ombré whether you like it subtle or strong!

I had the same hair dresser for over a decade when I moved to Manhattan Beach and was nervous to let anyone touch my hair. I found Jodie and she freaking rocks! I have extremely thick hair that has to be colored every 2 weeks due to how quickly it grows and it takes forever to blow dry. I look forward to my conversations with Jodie and always love the tea and coffee.

I returned to Hush because my normal colorist was sick and was disappointed by this experience. My hair had been brunette for the past ten months due to pregnancy and I brought in a picture of a blonde to show my colorist what I wanted.
Her response was «oh you want to go really blonde?» I replied, «yes,» she seemed to relay that she understood and on with the process. She just uniformly used foils all over my head, leaving me with a drab lighter version of brunette.
I told her this was not at all what I was expecting and she stated that if I wanted to go as blonde as the woman in the picture, I would need to come back for several processes. She also relayed that she probably should have told me this at the beginning when I showed her the picture. You think?
After laying down $ 200 for this experience that left more to be desired, I at least thought someone from the salon might call to inquire if I was any happier with the results or if they could fix it in anyway. I have not heard anything back and ended up going to my normal colorist.
When my colorist looked at the picture, her response was «any colorist with experience knows right away you need balyage to achieve these results, not uniform foils.»
I don’t want to give this young lady’s name at Hush, because I don’t want to hurt her career, but she stated that she had been doing color for over ten years. I was extremely dissatisfied with my experience there as well as the lack of customer service and follow up (especially considering the cost). For a new mom, it takes an act of God to have pumped, babysitters in place, baby fed and changed for all the stars to align and to get out of the house to get your hair done. I not only had to do this once, but twice to fix the mess. I thought by going to an upscale salon such as Hush, I could avoid this, but apparently you don’t always get what you pay for.
My normal colorist charged half as much and my hair looked ten times better.

Ugis has been my go-​to hair guy for the past 6 years, he’s chopped, colored, trimmed and we’ve had some fantastic hair adventures together. I wouldn’t even consider letting anyone else touch my hair, so if it means I make the trek from West LA to MB I will gladly do it!
The best thing about Ugis is I’ve never had to come in with direction, he just cuts and colors according to what’s best for me and my look. I LOVE that! After all, he’s the professional.
Early morning appointments are best since parking is open, afternoon in MB just gets insane. Can’t say it enough, I highly recommend Ugis!

Carly is amazing! I’m super lame and am always reluctant to try new things, but I decided to do balayage and was referred to Carly. The salon is super clean and nice, parkings a pain but that’s cause it’s a block from the sand. Anyway, my hair is amazing. I get so many compliments on it. It looks incredibly natural and sun kissed. No crazy clumpy coloring, it blends perfectly. I love love love it! If you want perfection, I highly recommend you request Carly.

I found Hush Hush about 4 years ago after trying many different salons and hair stylists in Manhattan Beach/​Hermosa Beach for years before. I can’t say enough great things about this Salon. The employees are all personable, genuinely welcoming, and friendly. Lana Grand is fantastic at cutting hair. I’ve never been so happy. I vaguely tell her what it is I’m looking for, and she nails it every time. She might just be a mind reader. Nick Lorenzen is a color master. He knows exactly what to do so that your hair complements your complexion. He’s also hilarious to chat with as I never stop smiling and laughing. Alanna Livingston is an amazing stylist. Her blowouts and hair styles last. I have a lot of fine hair and struggle with everything falling flat after a couple of hours. She knows how to make it last! Alanna is also great at cutting and coloring.
I won’t be changing salons again :)

My husband is letting me use his account since I normally never write these, but I had to talk about UGIS KANDERS! I called looking for someone who could handle blondes (or in my case, help create the illusion) and I’ve been loyal to him ever since.
He always knows what he’s doing even if I don’t. Sometimes you just need someone to direct you or you’ll end up looking like the Platinum Kim Kardashian — an experience a lot of stylists do to blondes if they don’t know their limits.
With UGIS I can sit back and know I’m in good hands and will leave with the perfect shade that’s best for ME.
No orange, no stripes, no over processing, no worries.
Friendly, professional and excellent with cuts — this is your guy.

Being a broke college kid, I don’t normally go to high-​end salons, but I needed my bangs trimmed before I started a new internship. My dad normally comes here to get his haircut so he got me in as a favor since his stylist (not sure who) had cancelled on him that day.
The lady I got (can’t remember her name unfortunately) was not at all judgemental about the sad state of my bangs and was very careful about getting everything straight even with my infuriating cowlick. The best thing was, after 10 minutes everything looked perfect and they didn’t even charge me! Not sure if that was their way of apologizing to my dad or if that’s a regular thing, but I was happy camper and gave her a fat tip anyway since no one’s done that good a job even when I buy a $ 100 haircut.

(Cut, color, and style are all superb)
But ESPECIALLY color. Do you see this platinum?!? I have tried other colorists… I’m not being biased. She’s freakin amazing.
Go to her one time. Please, one time. And if you don’t love it, and become ridiculously addicted to her work to the point where you go to her once a month or more (like me), then you must be from Mars because everyone I have ever recommended her to has become addicted to her magic!!! BEWARE THE MAGIC OF LANA GRAND!!! :)

Super disapointed! Hair Stylist professionals should know when they are not able to cut curly hair. I’ve sent some pictures of the result to some friends who has saloon and they are impressed with the bad job. A friend of mine has straight hair and her cut seems ok though. If you have curly hair, do a favor to yourself: keep away from this place!

I LOVE MY HAIR! I am getting ready for dental school interviews and wanted something fresh and clean so that I can look as professional as possible…
Keep in mind I have a LOT of hair, so it takes a lot of patience and hard work to do a good job– but I am not disappointed with what Bryan was able to do. My hair color is perfect, and the cut has a beautiful flow and shape. Ugh, I love it!
Great staff, complimentary drinks, a totally relaxing experience. Worth the price.

Hush hush is one of the most on point salons that I have ever been to. You can be having the worst hair catastrophe, on your period, break-​out central, bloated so you gotta wear sweats-​kind of a day, and still walk out of here feeling like a million bucks once you’re through. All products used are high end (shu uemura and kerastase which I love) and leave your hair feeling super soft and healthy.
I go to get my hair cut from Corey and she’s bangin! The cut and blow dry are worth the prices and you can even enjoy some vino while you beautify. I recently added some highlights to my hair (which I have not colored in over 7 years) and she gradually brought me to the perfect shade. Hush Hush, I’m in love I’m in love ad I don’t care who knows it!
