GROW

I always stop into grow because they have the best fruits that I’ve never seen anywhere else. The best thing is when they have cherries in season! They’re so good when it’s cherry season grow gets all my money everyone should try them.

I’m a semi regular at Grow, I get my pet food next door at Pet Foods Market so its easy shopping for me. My absolute favorite item they make is the fresh salsa with avocado and diced jalapeño… holy smokes its SO good. They used to make it on Tuesday afternoons so you have to catch it when its fresh but man oh man its worth it. All of their stuff is really fresh and they have a great selection of meats now. Big fan!

I am a regular at Grow. Love the fruits,(cantaloupe was to die for today!) fresh soups, breads, and being vegan the legumes and nuts in the bins are awesome! Today there was a ray of sunshine on a rainy day, his name is Jose he has the best attitude and new the produce very well! In this day of supersize stores and zero service it was a breath of fresh air!

This just opened and I am not sure how many stars to give yet, however it seems REALLY over priced which is SUCH A BUMMER!
I find myself circling the small store several times with nothing quite catching my eye.
I actually bought the ½ chicken roasted for $ 10.32! :(As I was checking out, the guy at the register said, «oh it smells so good!, but it’s murder» — Um What? Was I just shamed for buying meat? $ 11 dollar meat — not OK. Guess I will keep walking to Urban Radish.
GROW– go to Urban radish– check out your competition. Do that, but better.

Great produce, awesome selection of healthy, tasty snacks. The staff is amazing, and the owners are super personable. I’ll go out of my way to visit GROW.

Super convenient, fresh and healthy neighborhood market. A great variety of fruits & veggies, and a deli with prepared foods and sliced meats. They also have meat department stocked with seafood, poultry, beef and pork. Super friendly staff. And they deliver locally. A little pricier compared to whole foods or other larger grocery stores but that’s expected.

I used to be a huge fan of this store … but recently have been overcharged for items.
Normally, I don’t check my receipts at grocery stores — I trust that the price listed above an item is what I will be charged, plus I buy so much stuff, it would be hard to track every item.
In this case, when I stop at GROW, I am buying a few things — therefore easier to confirm.
My experiences:
1. Bought 4 avocados at 1.99 a piece (price listed). They charged me 2.99 a piece. Caught it as I was going out the door. They refunded me, but said it was a computer glitch.
2. Bought a bag of pluots and lemon type apricots. Two different prices — yet when I got home, I noticed that the stickers on the fruit were EXACTLY the same. I checked my bill. They charged me for the more expensive fruit. I called the store and told the young lady answering the phone what happened. She put me on hold and went to check the fruit herself. Came back and said, «Sure enough, the same exact sticker code was on both of the fruits». She would tell the owner and have them call me. Never heard a word.
3. Bought a small bag of different colored carrots. My receipt said 7.99. I called the store aghast that a small bag of precut carrots would cost almost 8.00. The gal answering said that there was no way I could be charged that much. She said I was reading the wrong line on the receipt. However, I was correct. I left my name and number for the owner to call me. Never heard a word.
3. Yesterday, I bought ONE zucchini. It said 1.49 on the sign. They charged me 2.79 cents for it. As the cashier was ringing me up, I asked her (nicely) to go over to the zucchini area and tell me what was going on. She admitted that she accidently charged me for the regular zucchini and not the organic. She would give me a 10% discount. Which she did, however, it was on the 2.79 zucchini! I said I would prefer to be charged the price on the sign. She voided my whole order and recalculated the receipt to reflect the 1.49.
Sigh …
I am not worried about a couple of dollars. What bugs me is that I can’t just relax and shop.
I don’t want to have to double check my receipt! Who has the time? Not me.
I really like the store, but I want to TRUST that they are not gouging the neighborhood.

I am a huge fan of specialty stores, try to eat organic and vegan most of the time, so passing by Grow I was glad to check it out.
Service is nice, they do have a good selection of brands that not every store carries as well as many local products.
The store is a bit dark and not very inviting, also has a bad smell to it, which is a real turn off while shopping.
Prices are high, while the fruit and veggies I got were good, I did not want to spend much time inside due to the smell and the prices also keep me from rushing to return.

Love the new digs! I am so happy this place grew (no pun) as I found myself having to go to other stores afterward and I stopped coming. It had been about 4 months since I was there and did not know about the new addition.
It looks fantastic and many great new choices.

We love Grow market! They provide healthy choices in foods and produce that tastes like it is supposed to! We have a need for gluten free foods and they provide that. Now that they have expanded there are more «ready to go» items. The soups are fantastic! The salmon burger and pork chops are our favorite in the meat section. All of the employees go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. They will make special orders and call you when it comes in. Cathy and Barry Fisher have made their store a vital part of this community. They are involved in many worthwhile causes. We just love walking in the store which is so welcoming!

We shop weekly at Grow especially for their fruit and produce which is as fresh and flavorful as you can find (including at a Farmers market). No bland or mealy produce here. Likewise, their addition of a meat counter ha added that dimension for great meats and especially great fish offerings. With their expansion, they now have an even greater offering of high quality products. They have great & helpful staff always available for a suggestion. Their prices are competitive with Whole Foods, Trader Joes and better than high end chains like Gelsons or Bristol Farms. More importantly they are locally owned and operated by folks who continually give back to the community!

Well, this place is a complete rip off. Why they are charging more for their special food, I haven’t the slightest idea. And how they have managed to stay open, is beyond me. Their prices are higher then whole foods! Don’t we already get a price hike when we shop there?
I was looking for raw almonds and they had them there, for $ 20 a pound… I passed on that. I needed chicken stock and thought they would have their own home made kind… Certainly not, they had the imagine brand and were charging over $ 5 for it… Seriously !!! I picked up some pasta for $ 6 and bag a rolls for $ 5 (I could of got these at TJs for $ 3) because I felt bad for waking in and not buying anything, although I’m sure they could of afforded it with their insane prices. I would rather purchase from the farmers’ market then go here.

my Manhattan Beach clients have me shop at GROW. I have introduced my Westside clients and now they have me drive there to shop. Everything is always displayed so nice and the store is so clean. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. The meat is amazing. The fruits and veggies are so fresh. I come from the Midwest and it really has the feel of the mom & pop stores I grew up with. I always look forward to my trips to GROW and I’m never dissapointed… Elizabeth

I get the weekly emails from Grow that include recipes. Yesterday’s recipe was «Grilled Lime Chicken with Cocnut Rice» — it was the BEST! Always looking for new ideas for the weekly dinners, this is now on the TOP 10 list at my house! Even my teenager loved it! The marinade/​sauce was perfectly spicy/​salty/​sweet/​and flavorful!
NO Leftovers!

I was excited to try the new Grow. I got home late on a Friday and rushed over to pick up a quick bottle of wine and loaf of bread at 7:55. Unfortunately the girls in the store locked the door at 7:57, just as I was walking up. I told them I just needed a quick stop in but through the glass they told me «sorry». I would think a local spot would have been nicer to a neighbor, especially since it was before 8 pm (posted close time). The guy that tried to get in after me was also disappointed.

the last few times I’ve shopped here I gotten overcharged after I look at my receipt! I just bought parsley at 1.99 and was charged for Cilantro at 2.99. It’s just irritating because I like to support a local business, but not when I have to double check them and it keeps happening. For a store that specialized in Fruits and Veges they should know the difference between a parsley leaf and a cilantro leaf! It’s not just that… they use to compare there price per lb with other stores and I know I pay $ 1.50 for a Honey crisp Apple and $.69 for lemons at Trafer Joes… not here… my apple was 1.98 and lemons .99 ea. so you decide!

I’ve been to Grow several times. I would prefer to give zero stars but sadly that’s not an option. The quality of their products is pretty good. It’s too bad that they have such utterly rude, unhelpful and snotty staff, which really equates to bad management. Way over priced too!

I came here specifically because they’re one of two local stores that carry cheese from Cowgirl Creamery. I loved everything about this place! Pretty pricey overall, but completely worth it. Really glad to have a spot like this so close.

I’ve got 2 words for you, Ted: Home and Delivery.
Grow’s home delivery has been life-​altering for me. My schedule is ridiculous but I can now nonetheless continue to eat real food and support a local shop. They do it right too. Everything shows up fresh, packed with care and different produce items are evenly ripened so that I can actually cook as though I shopped myself. Cold is cold and dry is dry — plus they send what I actually ordered; none of this substitution bs.
I place my order online and it shows up early enough the next morning that I can put everything away before I leave for work. It’s god damn genius.
Eating seasonal, organic and gmo-​free has become important to me and Grow’s helping me get there.

I have been coming to Grow for a long time (since they opened) and I have watched them grow (insert pun here) and prosper.
I always love the produce and cheese I get here and recently started to buy meat as well. When in Rome… Always fresh and well displayed.
From the crisp apples to the cherries and my god… the hard to find cheeses, I love it all. And they deliver!!! C’mon how great it that?
The service in the store is excellent and the Grow people know their stuff. Maybe a bit pricy, but worth every dollar.
I hope they continue to Grow…(I’ll stop now)
