Established in 2001.

Started out as a tune&lube service facility, then developed into a full service automotive maintenance and repair shop over the years. We now service and repair all makes and models specializing in Foreign and Domestics. We employ ASE and Factory Certified Technicians with years of automotive experience.

My automotive career started back in 1989 while I was still in high school and became more interested in the automotive field while taking shop classes. I moved onto working as a mechanic while going to college eventually attending Technical school. I have worked for TOYOTA, BMW and hold certifications from these manufactures as well as 8 ASE certifications, many other independent certifications including HYBRIDS. I have also managed local independent shops in the past.

AL is honest and upfront about the repair work. I have had a few minor issues with my Tacoma that needed to be resolved and being as this place is near my place in Hermosa I decided to give it a try. Also, Toyota charges 2 to 3x for the SAME job. AL is professional and ensures that you are happy with the job they did. I have no say on the smog check pricing as when I did have a smog check everything checked out for me and the price seemed reasonable.

I’ve been a customer for 6 years and have spent thousands of dollars here. Al took over for Sam a few years back and things have gotten progressively worse. Al doesn’t have the same customer loyalty sam had and unfortunately is completely dishonest.
I live much farther away from the shop then I used to and when I called about a control arm he had replaced one year prior he said it was still under warranty and to come down to have it replaced.
So I fought traffic there and back only to get a call later saying it was out of warranty even though he told me it was just few weeks prior.
Now I’ve had belts fly off from shoddy workmanship and had to rent cars out of pocket because of false completion times but I never Unilocaled about because I thought Al had my back.
Now you have to ask yourself is paying 30% higher prices than the shops on Pico worth it if the owner is someone you can’t trust?

I have gotten one oil change from this shop. It was done quickly and correctly. They also showed me the stupid shit that the last place I went to did to the car (strip the bolt, wrong oil filter). I like being kept in the loop when work is done on my car and that means the mechanic take the minute to show me what is wrong with the car rather than say words at me. I plan to continue going here.

I have been going to Al for a few years now, going back to the days when he was the head guy at South Bay BMW. I have an E46 M3 which I love more than anything, and I am extremely picky when it comes to working on my car. I’ve owned the car for over 5 years and I’ve learned the hard way you need to really really be picky about who you have work on it.
I live in La Habra about 35mile away from this shop and I still make the drive down when my car is in pain, I know Al is an honest guy and really wants you to love your car. From the smallest detail to huge problems Al is your man no matter the car!
Honesty is tough to come by with mechanics. When someone’s working on your car, you better make sure they know what they’re doing or you’ll literally be paying for their mistakes down the road, along with other things that might not have been necessary. Save your self the trouble of searching and bring your car to Al! He will make you fall in love with your car all over again!

Honest, Fast, Great Service —
We have a 2000 VW Passat Wagon with an after market stereo. I can not tell you the number of times we have been ripped off and failed by smog guys in the past because of the stereo. Most smog guys won’t even touch our car. We went in to EZ Tune & Brake and the car passed with out any trouble in about 10mins. They are knowledgeable in foreign cars & domestic cars. He was so awesome that I just took my 2000 Ford Explorer into them for a smog, super fast, Cert went directly to DMV. The easiest time I have ever had getting the cars smog. Highly, highly recommend them. There are so many crook out there today, that finding a place with honest & reliable people is refreshing. So happy to have found EZ Tune & Brake.

Honest & Reliable.
First time I came was for a failed smog check from another place. They checked and there were a number of problems. I have an old car.
Al was upfront about was needed to be fixed and other repairs that could wait. He walked me through the whole process and checked in with me before any work was done. The cost for the initial smog check also covered the cost for my second smog check, which is a relief after wasting money at the first smog check place.
Prices are reasonable and you cannot beat the service. I now come for all my oil changes and everything!

Ez Tune & Brake has been taking care of my Ford Explorer Sport for many years. My car has almost 200,000 miles on it and is still going strong thanks to Matt and Al. They are fair and honest. Each and every repair is always explained in great detail before and after the work is completed. With their great diagnostic skills and expert repair I look forward to my car running for another 200,000 miles.

Simply put, honest and fair mechanics! The owner Matt and his partner are really good techs, they’re super friendly, and always take time to explain the work.
I’ve been taking my cars to Matt for about four years now. They did my Mercedes transmission about three years ago, got a great deal. Now I have a Toyota, and they continue to do a great job.
If you’re having problems, stop by and talk to these guys, they’ll treat you right.

Did a smog check about a week ago and unfortunately I failed it. I never failed a smog before so I didn’t check if they do free re-​tests up front, they don’t. I didn’t ask so part of the blame is on me but most places that do only smog do free re-​tests. They were really nice other wise and it’s not their fault that my car didn’t pass but now I’m out $ 50

Perfect! Great honest service. My car had a few problems that I attempted to fix on my own. Matt gave me some tips for the next time I work on the problems. I also had him do an emissions test, to which my car failed. He fixed it the same day. I brought it back and he tested it again for free. Great service, thanks guys.

Called Mat to make sure there wouldn’t be much of a wait for a smog check. Rolled in and he came out to the car for my info. Sat in my car and read my book till it was time, about 10 minutes. It could not have been an easier process. There were no hidden anythings. I drive a 10 year old car. During the check I read my book in the office. Hardly had any wait. Boom, boom, boom, sign the papers, pay the bill. They transmitted my renewal info to the DMV so I was able to pay the renewal online. Less than a week later I got my tags. What? I know where I’m going when I need a smog check again. Good job guys.

Dishonest smog check. Posted ad states it’s 30 dollars and then they charge 50 for «evaporation tests». If those are «required» by law, they should be included in the posted price, otherwise, who would get the smog check without it? Try up the street, their posted rate was 20 bucks. Even if they try to rape their customers in a similar way, it’d be 10 bucks cheaper.
