Bens Palm & Tree Service

I was very pleased with the communication, competent service and overall professionalism from Ben’s Palm and Tree Service. We had a 50 foot Alder that had lived out its life-​span in our backyard and needed to come down. A large branch had fallen after a recent windstorm and I called Ben’s Palm and Tree, based on Unilocal reviews, the next day. Ben came out promptly and gave me an estimate and we scheduled its removal. He came as scheduled with two helpers and they removed the large dead tree in a few hours, cleaned up the debris and left the yard looking great. We scheduled the stump removal for this week, and he came out with a grinding machine and removed the stump and spread the mulch in my garden where I requested.
I also feel Ben gave me a very fair price for the work involved. I will definitely call him again if I need a tree taken out for any reason in the future.

Ben was immediately attentive, had a competitive price and did the work very quickly. He also knows the City of Manhattan Beach well. No issues. Would certainly use again.

Ben and his crew cut down a very large dead pine tree in our back yard. The tree was over 40 feet tall. It was removed masterfully. They were professional, on time, and left the backyard spotless. Their bid was also $ 500 less than a few others I had obtained. Would definitely use his company again. My neighbor was so impressed that he hired him on the spot to do some work in his yard.

Ben just went out to my house and gave me an estimate on removing a palm tree. He spent a considerable amount of time assessing the situation and advising me what my options were. When I told him I wanted to pay him for his time because I wasn’t sure when or if I would have the tree removed he would not let me pay him. He did a great job of teaching me about palm trees and explaining my options. He’s a really nice and professional guy. And very bright. He hasn’t done any work for me yet, but I absolutely will use him at any time that I need the services he and his company provide.

Edit: I identified myself as the wife of the «man» he refers to in his comment not once but twice. He clearly did not pay attention. His claim that I am a third party is bogus.
I never had the opportunity to use Ben because he decided he didn’t want to work for my landlord after they called him to discuss the nature of the job. Fine, I can understand making a decision to refuse service, but after his conversation with them, during which time he did NOT tell them he was not interested, I called him and then 2 days later texted him to ask about scheduling, and he never responded. I waited another 2 days and then called again, and when he answered and figured out what job I was calling about, told me that he wouldn’t be able to help me. I asked him why he hadn’t bothered to let me know that after I called him before and then texted him, and his excuse was that he was «busy» and didn’t have time to respond.
In this day & age of the customer’s power to review businesses in places such as Unilocal,I find it puzzling when simple, basic courtesy cannot be extended. Every business has the right to refuse service, but there should always be prompt and transparent communication if the situation changes as such.
To his credit, Ben texted me after I called him out on his lack of communication and provided me all the details of WHY he decided to refuse service, and apologized for the inconvenience it caused me; however if he had even TEXTED me right away when it became clear I was waiting for his response, all of this misunderstanding could have been cleared up right away. As it is, I’m left feeling like getting back to a potential customer was the least of his priorities. Ben may have stellar service once you get to that point, but he gets a D from me on his communication.

Guys were super nice and came by quick to take care of our palm tree. Did an excellent job!!!
Already recommended them to our neighbors and will definitely hire again in the future!

From first contact, Ben’s approach was casual, yet professional. Complete explanation of any detail, knowledgable and thorough. When plans changed slightly, Ben took care of it. I can recommend his services wholeheartedly without reservation.

Had a very large tree in our yard that died. We got a couple quotes and Ben’s prices were incredible! He worked with us on timing, did a superb job including cleaning all the debris when he was done. Definitely call him if you need some tree worn done you won’t be disappointed!

Found Ben on Unilocal,and decided to call him first because he was one of the few local companies located within the South Bay that got good reviews.
I left a voicemail on his cell phone, and sent him a text with my address, and literally within an hour, Ben was on my doorstep giving me a bid. The work involved the removal of 4 very large mature trees (a leaning north star pine, an out-​of-​control umbrella tree with roots going everywhere, a dying olive tree, and a humongous fan Palm, all over 25ft+) and the pruning of two other very large, mature fruit trees.
Once we confirmed the details of the bid, he said he’d get back to me with a formal quote and within 15 minutes I received a text with his proposal.
His pricing was very competitive and I liked the fact he lives in the South Bay and his company is locally owned. I also liked how quickly he was able to schedule me in for such a big job. First contacted him on Wednesday morning for a request for a bid, got the formal proposal before noon, and was able to book the work to start the following Tuesday.
Tuesday morning came, and I received a call from Ben promptly at 8am that he and his crew were on their way. The guys worked nonstop from 8:30am-6:30pm and from the amount of work required to remove all the trees and stumps and prune the remaining fruit trees, I feel Ben and his crew offer a
fantastic value for what they charge.
The best part is that Ben and his crew left our yard looking better than it did when he first arrived. He picked up all the debris from the trees from both our yard and the neighbors yard, and cleaned the sidewalk, the street and walkways too. The place was immaculate when he left, which I really appreciated.
I would definitely recommend Ben and his crew for anyone looking for to get large, mature trees removed and stumps grounded down.
Update: After discovering a broken sprinkler riser the day after the stump grinder work was done, I contacted Ben and asked for some help. The broken sprinkler riser was located right next to the umbrella tree stump and couldn’t be avoided while grinding the stump down. Within 48 hours, Ben sent out a plumber on his own dime to repair the broken sprinkler head. The repair was quick and easy. Ben was professional the whole time and was able to address my concerns in a timely manner. Five stars for treating his customers with respect and acting like a responsible business owner should!

I called the central number on a Saturday and was surprised to get Ben himself. He mentioned he was up in a Palm tree and I replied that I’m sure the reception is awesome up there but I’d hate to be partially responsible for some mishap at 40 feet. He called me right back within an hour and within 72 hours cleared my back yard of 14 Ficus trees and about 10 other smaller trees. His price was so competitive that I didn’t see the need to obtain multiple bids as it was more than fair and he completed the job in about 6 hours. He and his crew are very professional and did a nice job cleaning up afterwards. He even trimmed a few trees I had out front gratis which was very kind of him. His service is Gold Standard.

Ben and his staff are fantastic. We purchased a home last year with a queen palm, and he came out within the week and was quite reasonable (also trimmed some tall birds of paradise). This year I called before the fruit was beginning, and he remembered the house and wanted to ensure he charged the same price. Again, he came out within a few days and they did fast and excellent work. With several new service companies to deal with after buying our first home Ben’s has been one of the best.

Ben and his crew are extremely professional. Their work is top notch and at an affordable price. Ill be using them for all my future tree removal and trimming work. Thanks Ben!

Nice guy, super honest… cut and hauled all away everything for a very fair price…

I used Ben’s palm tree service to take care of some overgrown palm trees for a rental property. Ben’s price came in way lower than everybody else’s, which is great since property maintenance can be so expensive. Aside from being super professional, Ben is super knowledgeable and nice. He picks up his own phone calls and delivers on his promises. I would most definitely recommend him to others!

Like every family. There’s that one member who hoarders their home. In this case my boyfriend hoarder my mother’s backyard with a bunch of unused things. I decided to take action and find a good hauling business.
Ben did a excellent job at hauling from anything to everything, he went above and beyond and held great attitude the whole time. I was very much impressed and pleased. Definitely will be using them again.

Ben is a nice guy who did a great job cleaning up a fallen tree limb for us. This limb was the size of a fallen tree and he cleaned it up quickly and efficiently. He also hauled away the debris and the backyard looked like the limb had never been there.
Ben was responsive and quick to help us. He even squeezed us in between other jobs since we needed help right away. Other local tree trimmers were not good about following up with us about bids or scheduling appointments. I recommend Ben, he works hard and will get the job done as soon as he can.
