In an attempt to spend some quality mommy and son time, I decided to go check out the new Toddler Town at AdventurePlex. With the opening of Toddler Town, they’ve remodeled the entrance area so it’s like a little check-​in stand and the snack kitchen is no longer there. It’s $ 10 per child and they can play in the climbing/​slide structure, Toddler Town, reading corner, or open basketball courts if there’s not a class taking place.
We were there first thing in the morning so it was pretty clean and organized inside. I like that there’s two play structure areas, one for toddlers three and under and a larger area for older kids. Parents are allowed in both to help with little ones. For the toddlers, there’s a small ballot with one slide, a Velcro wall with shapes and shapes, and a few other cushioned shapes to sit on. For the big kids, there’s a ball pit, slides, a mini zip line thing and tunnels to crawl through. This area has tables and chairs for the parents.
Toddler Town is upstairs and we didn’t really get to experience it all because my son was not interested… he just went up, took a look and wanted to go back down to the structure. However, I was able to see a play kitchen, small ball pit, check out stations a fruit stand, and shopping carts. More of an area for pretend play.
Enzo loved playing in the open basketball courts and burned some energy over there chasing the balls.
Based on my visit, here are a few tips:
*bring socks for everyone because they are required. They charge $ 3 a pair if you forget
*no outside food or drinks
*if parking is full just park in the Northrup lot across the way
*come early, it’s pretty busy in the afternoon
I’ve seen on their flyers that they do a drop off for 3+ years for date nite. I’ve never used the service but it’s something to keep in mind.
Great place that is indoors, secure and clean to let the kids run around and burn some energy!

We were told an 1.5 to 2 hour wait on a Saturday for general admission because of the many birthday parties. Almost all the other indoor play places I looked into were closed on the weekends for birthday parties. I justified a 2 hour roundtrip here since they were «open» on the weekends. I want to warn other families and I recommend calling ahead on the weekends.

Adventure Plex was absolutely amazing for my sons 2^nd birthday. The staff was professional, helpful and accommodated a last minute request to add an obstacle course which made my sons event awesome! Jasmine stayed in constant contact with me before the event going over details. All we did was show up. Everything went so smooth and I will definitely be returning!

This review is for the toddler section. My 15 month old daughter loved the ball pit and slide but I wasn’t comfortable letting her play here because everything looks so old and outdated. It also has a really funky smell right when you walk into the play area. I would’ve gave this place a second star if I felt the staff cared more to clean and also keep older kids out of the section meant for babies. We had to leave after 20 minutes because the older kids would come in and jump in the ball pit and run up and down the baby slide which is completely unfair and un safe for the younger kids.

Closed on weekends for private parties but their online hours and website don’t reflect that.

I’m not sure what happened to this place. It used to be wonderful. Now it’s impossible to go on the weekends because it’s booked for parties. It used to be that the parties would happen alongside normal customers. Not anymore.
Also, don’t bother trying to check their website to see if there’s an event before you head out. The website, which used to be up to date and accurate, no longer has an accurate calendar. A lesson we learned the hard way. So now you have to call. We called and asked when the next normal play time was on the weekend, which is the only time we have to go. We were told «just assume we’re going to be closed on the weekends.»
Take your money somewhere else until they get their stuff together.

Held my daughter’s first birthday party here and was thrilled i made that decision! Jasmine made sure to have everything planned out for us just as i had planned and envisioned for the party. BIG kudos to the party crew helping me that day: karla, karina, david, and michael! They helped to ensure the party was running smoothly by always being accommodating to my guests, trying to grab balloons that flew away to the ceiling :), and always checking in with my husband and i to make sure everything was running on schedule. As soon as i arrived, i didnt have to worry about this or that needing to be done, because they took care of everything from start to finish. From decorating with the balloons i brought in, to ensuring each and every piece of food and present was packed up and deivered to our cars. Thanks a lot guys and adventureplex!!!

Fun had by all… it’s a great place for kids birthday parties in a controlled environment.

My daughter loved this place. She would’ve stayed here all day if we gave her the option to!
The price was great. $ 5 for two hours of play and my husband and I could both go in the toddler area and play with her.
The not-​so-​cool part was the older kids that they allowed in this area. Bigger boys cannon-​ball jumping in the ball pit where 18mth old babies are sitting in is very dangerous and these kids were being supervised by an older kid who was also playing with them (going down the slide etc.)
Staff definitely should be more aware of this happening because I’d love to bring my daughter back here but will absolutely be scoping out the scene first this time to see what other kids are in that area and more importantly, who is supervising them!
My daughter would give five stars though if she were writing this review!

I have a 3 year old and this review is about open play.
The place is very attractive, with many activities to choose from. My daughter always has a great time.
My only problem is that it’s not very pleasant for the parents to hang out. The air feels stiff, especially in the area of the big climbing structure where there is also a little bit of a smell. They keep the place clean, so I think it’s because it is not aired properly.
Also, it gets very loud when a lot of kids are present (acoustics), and the area where parents /​caretakers can sit isn’t very nice or comfortable.

Not good for toddlers. No outside food allowed.
We were looking for a place to take our toddler after we picked him up from daycare on weekdays. Hoped this would be a nice indoor, free play option. Unfortunately, this place is geared for much older children.
The free play area is LOUD. There is a large structure about 2 stories tall for kids to climb. Elementary to middle school age children are running, jumping, climbing and shouting as they play in the left-​hand and upper portions of the structure. On the right side, there is a small enclosed portion of the structure dedicated to smaller kids. This is where my toddler started to play. There were a ball pit and some eh padded obstacles. There really wasn’t much here besides the ball pit. He was entertained for 20 minutes but really needed someone to constantly play with him and help him. I doubt that he’d be this interested if we regularly visited.
He tried to venture into the other part of the structure where there was much more to do but was quickly forced out by older kids. That’s to be expected.
My toddler had fun with the puzzles and books in the library /​reading area. Might burn 20 min each visit if we were to come regularly.
There is a no outside food policy here. Food consumed on premises must be purchased from 2 – 3 vending machines. While I saw a couple of healthy options, the food is all packaged (so no fruit, sandwiches, etc). That is such a shame cause, say a PBJ, apple or carrot sticks, would be my preferred snack to offer. I suppose some people take their kids out front for snacks but that’s a hassle — got to check them out and back in — not to mention it’s sometimes very hot out.
The facilities could use some work. I really doubt that the ball pit is regularly cleaned. The seats /​sofas have a bit of a sticky feel. Many are marred from sneakers or peeling from old age. If my kid was any younger, I would have pulled him out immediately.
So all in all, not for us. We used up our passes in the library and moved on to investigate other gyms. Maybe in a few years, when my kids get older and if the place gets some much needed updates.

My kids and I have been visiting AdventurePlex for the last year and a half. It is a great place to burn off some energy on cold or really warm days when the park is not an option. My review focuses on the climbing structure and play area for toddlers and kids. We have not taken any sports classes here as my children are too young.
AdventurePlex is partially subsidized through the Beach Cities Health District so the prices are very reasonable. It is $ 5 per child under 5 years old for all day play. Parents don’t have to pay and children under 1 do not have to pay. If you are a member of any of the participating MOMS clubs you can save 10% on admission. If you come for the last hour of the day (at 5 pm), it is half price. We often visit at 5 pm after work and until recently I paid $ 2.25 for 1 hour of play for my older child and nothing for my baby (due to him being under 1 and b/​c I get the 10% discount). Can’t beat that price! Even at $ 4.50 for both kids for the last hour it is really great because that is often when the kids need to get some energy out before dinner. In addition, if you attend any of the South Bay Music Together classes, you can stay and play after for free.
When you walk in there is a front desk area that will check you in and there are two swinging gate type doors that are unlocked by a buzzer controlled by the front desk. The front desk will give you wrist bands for you and your kids if you want, but they don’t ask to check the writs bands upon leaving the complex.
Immediately in front of you when you enter is the private dining area for birthday parties and events. As you walk to your right, there is a dining area that has tables and vending machines. The kitchen has been permanently closed since Fresh Brothers now delivers to AdventurePlex instead.
As you pass the dining area, you enter the play area where there is a large 5 story climbing structure geared towards kids that are 2 – 3 and above. My daughter loves this structure. She is almost 3, but she prefers for me to join her and due to having a 1 year old, I often cannot. She can manage the entire climbing structure on her own and there are two large slides at the top of the structure which are fun for adults as well. There is also a large ball pit, a zip line and other balance-​type features in the climbing area. Below the climbing area there is a toddler section for 0 – 3 year olds, although often older children are in here which makes it a bit unsafe for younger babies and kids. This area has a variety of soft foam toys, which are a bit worn and could use replacement. There is a ball pit and a small slide. There are a few other soft foam ride on toys. When my daughter was younger she enjoyed playing here. However my 1 year old son is not as big of a fan and is always trying to escape. In addition to the play areas, there are a large number of tables for the adults to sit and monitor older kids or for everyone to eat together after playing. Although there is a sign that says no outside food is allowed, I have never seen this enforced and parents often bring snacks and drinks for their kids and I have as well.
There is one other area for the kids to play. When you first enter the complex, if you go left from the lobby area there is a reading nook under the staircase with a large rug and a variety of books for a range of ages (from board books to paperbacks). There is also a wooden lakeshore table with chairs and a plastic table and chairs a number of picnic benches. There are some puppet type toys here. My daughter likes to play here after she’s done burning some energy in the climbing structure. Behind this area is a room for classes, like South Bay Music Together and if you keep walking past the reading nook there is a gymnasium for basketball and volleyball. I have seen the girls club volleyball team practicing here. If no games/​practice are going on, it appears to be free for use to anyone. My kids are still little but a couple of times we have gone in to shoot some hoops.
Overall we love AdventurePlex because it has a variety of activities and it is extremely cheap. Some areas for improvement would include: cleanliness, updating toys/​books/​activities, and considering reopening the kitchen because not everyone wants to order pizza!

My kids prefer Scooters over this place, but it’s also great! Different type of play, camps available, Fresh Bros Pizza available and more. I would like to see it a bit more tidy, though. It’s a longer commute for us, but good to know they are there.

My son really enjoys this place. Tons of fun and wears him out. Notably, the place is super clean unlike other indoor playgrounds we have visited. I would love to give 5 stars… But the vending machines are ridiculous. No water to be found… Snacks are like vegan fiber doormat bars and random trail mix. You are not allowed to bring any outside food in (they closed their cafeteria so you can only order from fresh brothers — saltine cracker pizza with cheese). A few more tables would also be nice as it gets crowded on the weekends. Staff is super nice and they monitor the kids adequately.

The drop in fee is really affordable for kids under 3. You can access all the playzones including the basketball court for about 2 hours per visit. Parents are free to come in too.
I would have rated it higher except that I didn’t like how the small toddler play area is not well monitored by staff. The big kids will come running through knocking other smaller kids down and the staff just watches. I’ve seen them attempt to get the big kids out, but then after a while they just give up and watch it happen.
The facilities feel clean and it’s nice wide open spaces. I think that the birthday parties are popular here but when I checked out the pricing, it looked pretty high to me per child or maybe it’s a standard and I’m just not aware.

I’m dropping a star based on the abysmally poor attitude of all 3 employees I encountered at AdventurePlex last Thursday. The two people working the front desk both clearly did not want to be there. The previous times I have been here, a super nice woman checked us in. Even to push the button to allow us out seemed like too much «work» for these girls. People like that should not be working the front desk at a fun, kid’s place.
The person working inside the structure also seemed to HATE her job. She was «cleaning» up tables and keeping a loose eye on the structures. I wiped down our table with my own cleaning wipes before our kids snacked. It was grossly dirty!!! They do a terrible job cleaning up at this location. They just use some spray Lysol and paper towels to surface dust. If you saw how much dirt was on my disinfecting wipe, you would not want your kids to eat there.
The kids, of course, did not notice any of the above and had a great time. I hope management picks new employees. I will definitely not do the drop off Parent’s Night/​Day, now that I can clearly see the level of care my son would receive.
OLD REVIEW:
The 5 story structure is GREAT fun… When it isn’t too busy. My little guy loves it here, and so do I. My son is only 2 and can easily be plowed down by kids that are just 3 or 4. I don’t know what it will be like when school age kids are in the mix. I won’t be there then.
I personally love going down the super slippery slides. I am still a big kid, and this giant jungle gym is fun. He likes the toddler (3 and under) area. It is superbly boring as an adult, but it is nice that the little ones have a «safe» space from the bigger kids.
Bring SOCKS!!! I did not have a pair my first time here. They sell them for $ 3. Admission is $ 5 for under 3 and $ 10 for over. I don’t think I would take my son here often when he is older. This seems better suited for younger kids.
They have a parents day/​night off that has very reasonable prices. I was excited to utilize this service when my son turns 3, but based on some reviews I don’t think I will. There has not been much, if any, supervision by staff when I have been there. I can’t imagine leaving a 3 year old to tough it out with a bunch of older kids rough housing.
There is also a book and quiet time area. My son is not that type, so I can’t say much about it.

My daughter is 3 and today was the 3^rd time we’ve been since she was 14 months.
My review is only for the indoor playground. Every time we’ve been here it’s always clean, but it smells like a gym. Then again… you’ve got sweaty kids getting a workout in the giant obstacle course. The bathrooms are kept clean as are the tables where the parents sit.

Recommended for brave and active 2 yr olds but mostly kids 3+. Their toddler area is a bit lacking but I read they’re making improvements in that area.

What a fun place! Three of us adventurous adults decided to give the Ropes Course Groupon a try, and we all had a great time! All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and Shana was the best! She guided us through the ropes course, let us try different things (fall and get back up), and gave us detailed instructions on how everything worked. We then tried the rock climbing walls and some routes were quite challenging. It only took us an hour before we were all pretty tired from the activities. The ropes course is covered in trees so it was not very visible from the streets; we’re sure more people will visit if they knew about it. Thanks for a fun afternoon!

Great outdoor fun for my 12 & 10yr old sons and I!
We did the rope lines and the rock climbing. The girl at the front desk told me to look on «Groupon» because they were running a special! Saved 40% on each ticket! Only $ 12 instead of $ 20 to do both rope lines and rock climbing,
I would have given it a solid 5stars had the rope lines been a little more challenging and scary. My boys are daredevils and could have been challenged more!
The rock climbing was fun! 5 walls to climb. The boys skipped the first (beginners) and completed 2 & 3. My 10yr old climbed like a spider monkey and completed 4, however he met his match on the 5^th and most difficult. My 12yr old completed ¾s of the 4^th and also struggled with the 5^th. I was able to breeze through 2 – 4 and hit a road block ¾s up #5.
A great family bonding experience. We completed all of this in about 1.5hrs.
Take water because the rock climbing is difficult. They were not busy on Sunday so they allowed us to try 4 & 5 a few times each! Be ready for some sore forearms!!!

Adventureplex is a child’s wildest dream come true. A place where they can run wild for hours and a parent can sit back and let them burn off all that energy that usually keeps us busy and drives us crazy all day long.
They have a huge play area that is split into sections, a small area for toddlers 3 and younger and a massive area for the bigger kids that includes slides, rope swings, ball pits, and is about three stories high.
There is also a book reading area and other activities for the more calm and more risk averse children out there.
The the teens there are basketball courts, a rock climbing area a recreation area outside. The latter of which I don’t believe is part of adventureplex
I’ve noticed some parents speaking about their concern about their kids getting injured or the risk of bigger kids in the play areas, I did see this happening in regard to bigger kids in the play area. I don’t feel it is any different than other play areas though. I put this responsibility on the parents and teaching their kids that they should watch out for smaller children first, and Adventureplex second.
One improvement would be if they had a decent food/​snack and drink selection for not only children but also for parents. This would likely get the additional star from me.
My son loved it here and didn’t want to leave.
