Gallery and Couture

I was just reading the prior post about this store. I wanted to write one since my experience has been so dissimilar. I, too, wear jeans or yoga pants when doing errands on the weekends, but I’ve never had anything but the most positive encounters with the store owners and staff. In fact, I’ve been going there for over 10 years and most of my favorite garments are from this store. They have incredible taste and always carry fashion forward items. This is my favorite store in the area.

EXTREMELY Arrogrant and poor customer service!!!
I have lived in Manhasset for three years now– and had always walked by Gallery Couture, finally today I had the time to pass through. Now mind you, today is Saturday– so i was jeans and a more relaxed look.:
Upon entering the store– the sales woman was extremely rude. Looking me up and down– with a dirty look. I honestly felt like Julia Roberts in pretty woman.(although i WASN“T in hooker attire).
I was looking around, when the rude lady says very abruptly «what are you looking for??» I replied «nothing in particular, but thanks». she had the audicity to snicker at me. I was so upset by her facial gestures– that I walked up to her and told her that i live right down the street– and have always wanted to come in and look around. She laughed hysterically at me… and said Oh well have u tried the store down the street then!
ok so you give your customers dirty looks, approach them in an abrupt rude fashion and NOW your telling them to go to another store?
now the store down the street is called LOOP tht she is referring to– I have been to– and the clothes are less expensive, and more for younger clientele– let’s say they sell more juniors style clothes… jeans/​etc.
I said well i work in the city and am currently looking more for professional attire and work clothes. She again looks me up and down and laughs and says well i’d start with some pants then– looking right at my jeans.
I honestly have never wanted to wipe the dirty smirk off someone’s face as bad as I did with this lady. Negativity OOZED out of this place from the moment you step inside.
I was so taken back that I walked out and told my husband about the horrible way I was treated. he told me to go back in and speak to the manager.
Well, i go back in and speak to the manager and he was even more arrogrant and condescending and negative.
He was like well i don’t know what your trying to get at… but we have been a local business for 20 yrs. I own the other store so maybe she thought you weren’t finding anything you like here and referred you to our other store.
UM NO! She referred me to the other store because i am young, had my hair up in a ponytail– because she didn’t think i could afford the $ 300-​$ 400 dresses, and that i was more suited to shop at their sister store LOOP– where the dresses much lower priced, and junior style clothes. She was totally making assumptions based off how I was dressed that SATURDAY morning. I know exactly what she was getting at!
Mind you– I have several work dresses that are similar to Gallery Couture’s prices. This store sells all the same designers that Bloomingdales does– Tahari, Robert Rodriguez, Cynthia Steele– honestly I will not go to this store ever again. I will let all my family and friends know to not go here and to rather go spend there money at Bloomingdales or any other store. The arrogrance of this establisment is just insane. I work for a hedgefund– and normally buy nice suits and dresses for work. and because on a saturday morning i was wearing jeans– and not DONE UP to the nine i looked «to them» like some kind of bum and was treated this POORLY.
I honestly do NOT know how this store stays in business. Management is just as bad as the sales force they employ! I urge you at all costs– do not support store– or there other sister store LOOP– which is right down the street
