Specialties
Liberty Harbor provides high quality middle school and high school education with an emphasis on classical liberal arts, self-sufficiency, community engagement, and understanding the good life. We do not push students towards the same goal («just get them into college at all costs!») but rather we seek out with the students and their parents or guardians the best use of their potential. This could be college, or trade school, or starting up a business!
History
Established in 2010.
Liberty Harbor began as the dream of Dr. Julianne Cooper and Prof. Mark Reeder, a husband-and-wife teaching team who always held the students up as capable individuals rather than cookie-cutter products. After seeing the incoming freshman (they taught at the university level) decline year after year and being hemmed in with roadblocks every time they attempted to better their students’ opportunities, they decided they had had enough. Liberty Harbor began with their efforts helped by Rico McCahon, Amanda Reczko, and Andrew Richter (all previous students) and Michelle Strout, a former Miss New Hampshire and business woman. Growing from 12 to 35 students in three years and opening up the Prep (middle school) are just some of the victories that have happened under Liberty Harbor’s educational vision.
