Food was decent but nothing to get excited about. Attended a play with food served. Room much too cold in the winter. I talked to hostess and then she got the manager. He did turn up the heat(for a while) and then back to uncomfortable temperatures. I was with a table of eight people and we had sweaters and heavier clothes on and still all were very much too cool. If the temperature was OK I would have given this a 3−½ rating if that was possible.

We’ve gotten take-out here a few times, this is my new go-to for chicken tenders. They’ve got Souvlaki and Puritan beat in that regard, plus they have this honey mustard sauce that I used to find only in college — no idea what it is but it should be standard. We’ve also gotten some sides and grilled chicken salads, all very generous portions and great food. Guy also drove in a snow storm on a Sunday morning and dealt with my apartments buzzer and was still cool, that doesn’t happen often.

Went there for the Thanksgiving buffet with my daughter. $ 16.95 all you can eat. The stuffing looked dry but gravy took care of that. Had the white & dark meat but went back for 2nds for the dark, moist & delicious. Real mashed potatoes, Swedish meatballs, butternut squash that had just the right amount of sugar & nutmeg, grilled zucchini/yellow squash, salad & rolls rounded out the meal. Staff was attentive and on top of things. Dessert was pumpkin pie, red velvet cake and a chocolate volcano thingy. Looked good but we didn’t have any. Too full.

This review is based on dinner. I haven’t dined inside the Château Tenderloin Room in almost three years when Checkmate Pizza also had full service dining in the Tenderloin Room. I’ve ordered pizza delivery from Checkmate Pizza quite a bit, which is still located inside the Château complex, but it’s now a separate takeout and delivery place. The Château also has banquet facilities and Manchester’s oldest dinner theatre(showings on Fri & Sat evening buffets and Sun brunch) in this building. This Château is not connected to the chain of Château Restaurants in eastern MA, which serve up decent Italian American cuisine. I decided to stop for a solo Friday night dinner at the Château Tenderloin Room, which has been redone nicely with shiny wood tables and comfortable booths, hardwood floors, and the full bar area in the same spot as before. The atmosphere has the feel of an intimate, yet casual steakhouse with dim lighting, candlelight dining. I can recall not too long ago, I was playing checkers with my buddy on the checkerboard tables in this very same room. Check-mate! Game over! I arrived here around 5:30PM and I could sit anywhere I’d like since the place was very quiet. My waitress promptly brought out some complementary ice water and gave me a few moments to go over the menu. The menu offerings include steaks, chicken, seafood, appetizers, salads, and soups at moderate prices. There’s also a Martini List with some interesting concoctions. See the menu and prices at The previous menu served in the Tenderloin Room included Checkmate pizzas, calzones, sandwiches, pasta dishes, appetizers, and salads at reasonable prices. I was given a basket of warm soft honey wheat rolls with Cabot butter & Promise spread, a good start. For an appetizer, the Fried Cauliflower($ 6.95) was good and filling, deep fried cauliflower coated with a crispy light batter, on the greasy side, served with creamy dill dressing with traces of blue cottage cheese. The cup of Potato Leek & Sausage Soup(included with dinner) was served hot and had a light cream broth with mostly fresh cut potato chunks and a few ground sausage chunks, a bit salty tasting overall. For dinner, the NY Sirloin Strip Steak($ 18.95) was a big thick grilled steak with maitre d’ butter and served with seasoned roasted red bliss potatoes. The steak was cooked to my request, pink in the center, but it took some effort to cut up the steak which had a very chewy texture and juicy inside, with some fat at the end of the piece. I was pretty much full from the greasy appetizer and I had my dinner boxed up to go. I used a $ 4 off coupon(for the NY Sirloin Strip Steak) which I clipped from the Union Leader. The check came out to just under $ 24 with tax/before tip. Overall, the food was decent for the moderate price. The service was very good and the food was served in a timely manner. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The dining room was still very quiet when I was finished, probably due to the snowy and cold weather outside. I plan to catch a show with a friend at the dinner theatre next time. PARKING: Off street parking in the back of the building. The parking is a bit tight.
