Scottie’s Wrecker Service

Had to go to Scotties Towing to pick my car after it was towed by local law enforcement due to a break down and it being parked.
Called them to see how much they wanted and was told $ 200 for the tow and $ 50 for a day of storage — even though I picked it up the first day they were open after it was towed. $ 200 to tow it 3 miles to their lot!
When I went to their location the grumpy old guy at their front desk shuffled some papers and told me $ 400 if I wanted my vehicle. I politely told him I was quoted $ 250 that morning. He said, «no, if you want your car you’re gonna have to give me $ 400».
We argued for more than a minute before a guy from the back room piped up and said that he had quoted me $ 250. He was the owner and he waited until I had gotten quite angry before he over rode his counter guy who was trying to STEAL an additional $ 150 from me — in addition to the OUTRAGEOUS $ 250 tow.
These guys are thieves — no matter how pretty a picture they paint or put up on their web site.
Please don’t reward them by giving them your business — and don’t believe the counter guy!

SO I was driving down the road with my parents and the front control arm came off my car due to some crappy repair done a month earlier. It’s not a fun thing having your wheel hub, and half shaft pop off your car in the middle of a busy suburban road. The roadside assistance people got Scottie’s out to tow my car and they arrived promptly and quickly.
Having on my phone, wallet, and my car keys on me I could not really give them the address of the repair shop while I was talking on the phone with them. They said it would not be a problem and to give the address when the driver got there. So I looked up the address on my phone and stored it for later. When the driver came he hooked up the car, was fast and efficient, then when he was done asked me for the address. I pulled up my phone and told him i found the address online and he replied «Oh, so you’re not going to write it down for me?» in the most frustrated and upset tone of voice you can imagine. I’m sorry I dont have the luxury of a pen and paper at all times. The car alarm was OFF, he wrote the address down, I handed him my keys with the alarm key fob, and thanked him. Unfortunately I did not have any cash on me either. I was not able to tip him and had hoped he wasn’t angry enough to do something to my car.
Fast forward later in the evening. I borrowed a car, took my spare key and alarm fob to retrieve my car stereo and any valuables out of the car. The ALARM WAS ACTIVATED so I disabled it and unlocked the car, lo-​and-​behold all the change is gone from the cup holders. Also missing: plastic pins and brass screws. I had been working on my dashboard which required the removal of plastic caps, pins, and brass screws. I had not finished so I put the dashboard back with a couple of the screws and left the rest in my cup holder to finish up later. It appears our friendly neighborhood tower grabbed the change by the handful which indirectly grabbed all my screws and plastic pins. I DON’T CARE about the loose change, I care that now I have to buy these pieces that I already had. All for not having cash and the address of the repair shop written down ahead of time.
My alarm has an audible indicator if something happened (like if an adjacent car hit mine with their door). No audible indicators went off and the ALARM WAS SET after the car was dropped off so somewhere in between, the hardware went missing. I had a small plastic bag I use for trash, at least you could have thrown that away instead of my dashboard mounting hardware.
