Rich has been in the auto electronics business for 27 years and founded Safe & Sound 20 years ago long before there was a Best Buy, Circuit City or Tweeter in town. Now some of those large chains are gone but for Safe & Sound business has never been better. A recent expansion into the space next door has provided room for a state-​of-​the-​art fabrication bay with isolated ventilation plus more showroom, office and warehouse. A second location is Chantilly also opened in 2012. Since day one Rich still checks all installations and personally guarantees your happiness. There’s even a sign on the front door with his cell number if you ever have a concern.

Customer service was great from Mark (manassas), he answered all my questions in regards to window tint issue (not with them, but to repair) and remote start. I look forward to getting my car done and will keep you posted once i get the work done. Also what I love is if they cant service you there at the Manassas location, they will get you set up in there other location in Chantilly which is great.

Took my BMW in for a receiver/​deck last week. Although I purchased an Alpine FAR from the top end, the end results were terrific. I spent the first couple days driving around just to listen to music. Craig, the rep I dealt with did a great job… he actually LISTENED to me and did not push or try to up-​sell. The BMW is a money pit, but this is easily the best $ 300 I have spent on it. Even keeping the OEM speakers, the sound is awesome. Good place, good value, good folks.

These guys are awesome. Had a remote start and front and rear entertainment system installed in the wife’s Ford Expedition. Also had window tinting and a K&N air intake done on my Charger. We had issues with the Kenwood system they put in the front of the Expedition. It intermittently had Bluetooth connectivity problems, would transfer phone audio back to the handset, etc. We called and they offered to upgrade the software and check the install. Still had issues after that so they offered to reinstall with the latest model to see if it fixed the problem. Still had issues so they agreed to swap out the unit for an equivalent Alpine system. This solved the issues so it appeared it was a Kenwood specific problem. The fact that they put this much effort into fixing our problem and didn’t charge us a penny is what was amazing to me. It is very rare to find a shop that stands behind their work like this in today’s world, especially since the problem wasn’t technically theirs. They do great work and stand behind it 100%. Go to them for all your car and motorcycle electronic, minor performance mods, and tinting needs — you won’t regret it.

Ok, here’s an update… talked to Rich at Safe & Sound & we worked out a fair deal for us both… so for that i am greatful because it seemed at first like this was going to be a major battle to get anything.
I’d still be leary of having tires put on my vehicle here, but as for the the rest of the services they offer… they are pretty damn good… PLUS they do stand behind the work they perform.

Could not be happier! Customer service is amazing. Safe and Sound installed window tint on my 2015 Ecoboost Mustang. After a month I noticed an imperfection in the tint on the passenger window. I called them up and they had me come in the following week. The tint was fixed free of charge no questions asked! Thank you!

I’ve known Rich for over 10 years and I highly recommend Safe and Sound to everyone who wants the job done right the first time. Rich is a «hands on» owner and is staff is top notch. Matt, Safe and Sounds’ custom installer does the best work in the area and I wouldn’t take my vehicles to anyone else. For auto electronics, Safe and Sound should be your first and only stop!!!

So this is a re-​review after having visit the other location, as well as returning to the Manassas location with a friend to watch what happen. It seemed night and day from the first encounter to the next. There are a few places that offer less expensive prices, however I was informed Safe and Sound will match some prices.
The sales rep this time was much more patient and even offered a bit of advice. I am glad to say that the customer service was much more on par than my first visit. I do plan on getting work done here in the near future.

I called Safe and Sound and asked about having a stereo installed in my boat for me. I had used them in the past and thought they had done good work. I was told originally to bring the boat by and they could do the install for me. I then called when I was on my way and they said to just bring it by for an estimate. After I arrived the person from the store came out and looked at the boat. In the matter of a minute he said they were to busy and it was be 3 weeks before they could install it. He did call the other location and said they could do it the following week. I needed to put the boat in storage and could not wait. The employee then walked off and went back in the store. I was then left to put the cover back on and turn a 32 foot boat around in the small parking lot as the employee watched out the window. I will never use Safe and Sound again.

This is my second time going to Safe and Sound. As soon as I walked in, I met with Mark and explained to him what I wanted based on my budget. Mark was very quick to tell me exactly what type of speakers I needed for my truck. He was very kind and well-​informed about the products in his store. When I walked in, I expected nothing less based on my last purchase here in 2008. I will definitely be making another purchase here again soon, and I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for knowledgeable, professional and courteous staff.

Safe & Sound saved me $ 3500.
I took my 2008 Audi A3 to a «European specialist» repair shop that told me (after having the car for three days) my flashing ABS light required a new ABS pump to fix the problem. All parts and labor would total just over $ 3500. Not having that kind of money to spare I lived with the flashing ABS for another few weeks when a friend told me Safe & Sound specializes in fixing complex electrical problems. I dropped off the car at the Manassas location expecting it to take a long time and within an hour they determined the problem was a simple loose connection and only charged me for one hours labor. Needless to say they’ve earned a loyal customer for life.

Since my last review, I’ve spoken to Rich directly and he assured me that he will do whatever it takes to make this right. I brought my car back into Safe & Sound and they reconnected the remote start and tested the battery drain to confirm it was within normal/​minimal levels, which should not result in any future battery issues. They promised that if I had any battery issues at all, they would uninstall the product and give me a full refund. They also offered to do a free upgrade to the system (assuming all goes well and I don’t need to take it out) to correct a minor glitch caused by compatibility issues between my car’s configuration and the remote start technology available at the time. Regardless of whether the remote start causes me further problems OR if it runs perfectly, I know Safe & Sound is going to take care of me so I have to say I’m very satisfied with the customer service and would recommend them to my friends.

Ive been going to Safe and Sound for all of my car audio needs for the past 4 – 5 years or so and they have been fantastic. As far as prices are concerned, they usually go with what Crutcfield charges so I cannot really comment on their prices as far as equipment is concerned. Its the work they do that really stands out. I just have a relatively complex job done by them over the weekend and I was just amazed at how clean the head unit/​backup camera install was. The guy who worked on my car (who’s name escapes me) showed me how most of the features worked on my new head unit. Im sure he would have helped me out a lot more but it was late and I was in a hurry to get home. They are definitely the place to go in the area for audi work!

These guys are wonderful. I had a few CDs jammed in my stereo so I took my car there to get it fixed. They gave me an estimate (much better than the dealership quote) and they did a great job fixing the stereo. Excellent customer service, highly recommended.

These guys do good work and they go above and beyond on customer service. I highly recommend them. They day I had my full install done the owner and his crew stayed until after 9 PM to finish it.
They will do everything from low-​end to high-​end, and I think people that buy low-​end gear are disappointed when they have problems with it. I bought a pretty high-​end system and they did an outstanding job. The original head unit had a lot of problems (Kenwood’s fault — not these guys) and they ended up giving me a comparable Alpine unit at no charge.

I’ve been going here for years and feel like the guys here really know what they are doing and they have a great line-​up. My only complaint is they keep trying to push that super expensive !@#@&@# K-​40 unit on me while K-​40 themselves don’t recommend their unit in VA. But I keep coming back to this place. And if I ever have a problem with anything they did or a bad piece of equipment most likely, they take care of it. They even FINALLY installed a remote start on my manual transmission car, something I had wanted for ages, plenty of remote starts for automatics but like pulling teeth to get a remote start for the manual transmission. Now if only I had the $$$ for an infrared viewer install.

There is a lot to be said for customer service, individual attention, and truly valuing the consumer. It is one thing to say it in an ad; it is a completely different level of commitment to hold this ideal as a primary driver behind your business model. Safe and Sound does it in spades.
I have been using Safe and Sound, initially on the suggestion of a friend, since I moved out to DC four years ago. I have every reason to continue to do so. Solid pricing, great selection of product, and employees who treat you like a client instead of a customer.

I’ve been a customer of Safe & Sound for over four years now, and only just realized that I’ve never written a thing about them. This will not stand!
Most of my friends have now experienced the technological kludge-​fest that is my car. Well, I’m here to tell you that Rich P. and the good folks at Safe & Sound are not to blame for anything that doesn’t work when you’re in the Batmobile. No, they fix things and build things. They fix and build the stupid «hey, I’ve got an idea!» concepts I come up with. So they deserve some real admiration for their successes when it comes to off-​the-​wall custom car electronics (like a PC running XP with a touchscreen interface, USB ports in the center console, a rear view cam, etc). They’re the pit crew every hardcore geek secretly (or maybe openly) craves.
Respect for what they’ve done over the last four years with my car. I can’t believe no one else has said it yet, so let me be the first! Try them out. It’s worth the drive from Arlington out to Manassas for this level of expertise.

They are over priced and in the 4 interactions I have had with this company have been negative over all. I recommend buying from a online retailer.
I will say that a few of the people that work there have been helpful but don’t let this over shadow the negative interactions I have had with them.
