NTA of Battlefield Shell Service

The short version: Past this station, Its one of those sleazy, nickel and dime shop that will rip you off. Especially if you don’t know anything about cars. Trying to sell you things you don’t need.
The Long version: If you looking for a honest inspection station this in not the one you want. Yes they do their inspection quick. They love doing brake jobs. Chances are you can fail for a brake job. Also the brake job is overpriced compared to other shops. So, here’s my story. This is the second year I been to this shop. I, like everyone else who use the internet was looking for a honest quick state inspection shop. I discovered this shop using Unilocal review. They got a lot of stars. Mind you it was only review by 16 people. So, have to keep that in mind too. Not too many reviews should tell you don’t consider this all too helpful. So, this is my second year going to them I thought they were honest plus they are state certified to do the job as required by the state. So, I went to the shop told the inspector Mohammed that I have a check engine light and wanted to know how much to diagnosis the problem. He said we can check the whole car from A-​Z for $ 92. So, I was ok with the price considering they were going to tell me what I needed to do to fix the whole car. So, the mechanic reads the code with I already was Po420. You can have this done by AutoZone for free. I’m thinking that’s not all your doing for me right. Not just reading a code. I mean Mohammed said tell you everything wrong no, not read a code. So, 10 min after the mechanic read the code he tells the service associate who then call me in and said we RECOMMEND EXHAUST MANIFOLD, EXHAUST PIPE AND CAT. CONVERTOR, RESONATOR, REAR MUFFLER, AIR INJECTION PIPE, AND CLAMPS O2 SENSOR x 2. RECOMMEND FRONT BRAKES INCLUDING PADS AND ROTORS REAR BRAKES,
Total over 3,000
Now, when a shop type «Recommend» you know what that means. It means we are not responsible for what you change and if that will solve the problem. So, I ask what the heck did I pay $ 92 dollars for if not to find the problem. IF you just recommend the whole exhaust done I’m sure it will definitely solve the problem. Better yet why don’t you just recommend a whole new car? That also solves the problem. So, I eventually had just the catalytic converter changed total cost $ 350 dollars. Went back to the shop since your second emission is free. I pass with flying colors. And no I didn’t have the brakes done. I also pass with flying colors at another shop. Thank you very much.
About me: not a mechanic, had work for Pepboys over 5 yrs, had over 8 different cars over the years with exhaust, brake and alignment problem. Already been there done that. So, if you don’t listen to my warning all I can say is «I told you so».

This is the best mechanic shop in Virginia. Justin at the front desk is so friendly, personable and knowledgeable. The mechanics do a wonderful job. I trust that they are providing the services my car needs no more and no less. I have been going to them for 2 years and I tell all of my friends to come there too. Thanks, NTA Shell!

Best shop in manassas service manager this great and they get you in and out fast for inspection and emission.

If I could give them TEN stars I would! Thanks Justin and the other techs/​staff! My car was in need of an emissions tests to be registered and of course I needs over $ 1000 worth of work down. As I had a mini melt down, they explained everything to me with patience. Justin gave me his honest opinion and it was clear he was not trying to take advantage. Sometimes car business could be intimidating especially as a female but he made sure I understood and also understood when I took a step back to think. FABULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EMPLOYEES!!!

I’ve had good experience with my two visits. My go to place for state inspections and emissions. My flat tire was also plugged very nicely in a short amount of time. Good mechanics. Keep it up guys.

These guys are awesome. I’ve been coming here for several years and this place always is taking great care of me and I never feel like I’m getting screwed over. They are always honest, helpful, and get you in and out as quickly as they can, highly recommend this place! Jimmy and Derrick and everyone there are great, super customer service!!!

I stopped in tonight in the pouring rain for an overdue emissions inspection and they could not have been nicer! Quick, efficient and very friendly and personable service. Both technicians got wet moving my car, but I never did. By far the most pleasant inspection experience I have had in 29 yrs as a VA driver!

I was referred to Battlefield shell by a another station that was unable to patch a tire for me at the time. These guys welcomed me warmly and got right to work. They were friendly, fast, and went out of their way for me.

Yesterday was my first visit to Battlefield Shell. I had bought a «Groupon» for an oil change there so I called them to make an appointment.
I called them at 130 on a Thursday afternoon hoping to get in sometime Saturday morning, but they were booked. So I asked if they would be able to change my oil today. David said that they could see me right now and I told him that I lived 5 miles away but would have to be done by 4:00. He said that I could come right over and that he guaranteed that I would be done by 4. I got to the Shell station about 10 minutes later. David had held my reservation and my car was the first one in.
The service technicians changed my oil and did an inspection on my car. (Not a state inspection, just a once over inspection). When my car was finished, David went over the issues that the technicians found. He was very nice and explained everything on the list. Every issue that the techs found were things I knew about. I do not trust most mechanics because they always find «something» wrong with a car even if there is not really an issue there. That is NOT the case at Battlefield Shell. When it is time for me to get my minor issues fixed, I will be making an appointment with them.
I recommend this place to anyone who wants their car and themselves treated with respect.

So I thought I should follow up on the review I gave before. I wrote a letter to the info@… email address I found online — as I said I would. I was really impressed with a call from the General Manager that same evening. He was very concerned, very genuine and promised immediate action. It was apparent that he cared about his staff performed and wanted to deliver a high level of customer service. And now, a few weeks later, I just got another call from the GM to let me know that the customer’s car has been professionally repaired and that they have been thoroughly taken care of. I asked about the bad inspector and he reported that the issue has also been addressed. I feel that this was an isolated incident and that it has been corrected professionally. I never did hear from the customer so they must have been satisfied or they would have called me. I have used this station for years and will continue to frequent this establishment — I will be on the lookout for that bad inspector though! If I see him at any local service station I will know to steer clear of him.

This is the best shop I have ever been to. The service writer is great! And, they have a new tech working in the shop. I learned, while I was waiting, that the new guy has more applicable certifications then most techs in the area. I will continue taking my vehicles to this shop for the foreseeable future.

I regularly come to this gas station for gas and every day convenience needs. They have the best gas prices in the area and have great discounts on cigarettes (cheapest cigarettes I have found in northern Virginia.).
I just recently bought a car with no service records so I took it in for a simple oil change and asked if they could just look it over and tell me what is wrong. No problem! The staff is very friendly and gave me great advice about my car. They always remember me by name when I come in and today I was in and out in about 20 minutes with all of the information I need to fix up my car.
I highly recommend this place!

Always seems overcrowded and a little chaotic inside. I love the attitude of the guys running the service aspect of the Shell. I’ve always seen great customer interaction and professional attitudes. Knowledge-​wise I’m not so sure. I took my car in for an inspection and they failed it for a bad outer tie-​rod and «frozen» rear brake caliper. They told me it’d be $ 450 – 500 for the whole, same-​day (yea right), repair. I called around and got some similar quotes on the parts and labor but decided to take the car in for another look. Sure enough, two other places told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with either of the two rear calipers. I would have just done the tie-​rod repair for $ 250 then and there but the $ 500 repair was enough to warrant a second opinion. So they would have had my business and my support but now I say NAY! If you want to get any work done on your car for an honest price take it to Olde Towne off Prince William st. You won’t be disappointed there.

I don’t caer for this place.
I once dropped my car off a few years back to get some maintenance done. They told me my car would be done on Friday (I dropped it off Wednesday or something). I expected to pick my car up on Friday. so I called them around 1pm or so on Friday. and they told me they got the wrong part #. so they had to order it and my car wasn’t done until Tuesday.
I spoke to the manager asking why I wasn’t notified earlier. I had to call THEM on Friday (when it should hve been done). and then they tell me that they ordered the wrong part #. The manager understood my argument and gave us a SLIGHT discount. I still wasn’t happy with the service. Haven’t been back since.

I stop in here for fuel every once in a while. Today I stopped in for a fill up. Paid at the pump — no problems! I’ve gotten my car inspected here a couple of times in the past for it’s VA State Safety Inspection.
They used to offer a ton of Washington Redskins garb and paraphernalia for sale here — but for some reason — no longer.
There is also an ATM and an automated car wash available at this location.
