Loopy Scoops is a great little ice cream cart chock full of custom flavored, hand-made ice cream cups, ice cream sandwiches and ice cream or sorbet popsicles. Loreann, a pastry chef, makes all of the ice cream and sorbet herself and continuously tries out new flavors. Her cart is at the Manassas Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and is rapidly becoming a regular stop. My favorite is the ice cream sandwiches, which are two cookies around an ice cream center. They are frozen cold enough to gradually soften in your hand as you nibble on them, but will not instantly start to melt in the summer sun. I long to try the Fruit Loops and Cocoa Crispies flavors. Somehow I cannot get past the simple, delicious chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream sandwich.

Real ice cream made with high quality ingredients. I tried a double chocolate peanut butter sandwich. The cookies were the real deal and the ice cream was awesome. Before leaving I grabbed a vanilla cup. It was delicious as well. Grab yourself some on Saturdays when you make it to the Manassas farmers market.

At the farmer’s market this morning I stumbled across a new vendor that I had not seen there last year. A small ice cream cart with a lot of attention from other patrons of the weekly market. The menu listed a variety of intriguing flavors of ice cream and ice cream + real cookie sandwiches. Despite the chill this morning I decided I had to try one. I purchased a «peanut butter and jelly» ice cream sandwich. While I was initially hesitant to eat a jelly flavored ice cream, it proved to be fantastic. I will be making my way over to her cart whenever I have occasion to visit the farmer’s market.
