After trying this place for take out, I’m amazed that some people gave this place so many stars. I love Chinese and have tried almost every Chinese restaurant around looking for a good one. This by far was the worst. The service and delivery was fine, but the food was bland, greasy, and tasteless. I will definitely not be ordering from here again.

Derby’s on crack. I sat in there and watched the food cooked, it was fine and a traditional 3 generation family run place. The greens were fresh cut and gorgeous, the prep and customer service great. Good food, good prices. I ordered dumplings and pork lomein for $ 12. Steal. Seriously Derby, you order delivery, have roaches crawl out, but go back for more? What a ruse. Sounds like someone who failed at complaining for a discount. Seriously though, good place and will gladly do business again.

Arrived really hot and fast and combination lo mein was great! The donuts are amazing and arrived hot, delicious. The spring rolls are better than the egg rolls cause the egg rolls are super greasy, which is why they did not get 5 stars.

I ordered Tuesday evening take out… Triple Delight with fried rice and spring rolls.
The lady on the phone did a good job of confirming my order.
It was ready in 10 minutes, just like she said.
The meal was OK, nothing too special.
They got the fried rice correct which was a plus.
The spring rolls were tasty but a bit on the greasy side.

The good: Spring Rolls were some of the best we’ve had at Chinese in the area. The fried rice was very good also, they had nice big chunks of all meats in the combo order and the rice was still moist.
The bad: The Kung Pao Shrimp was terrible, it had about 10 shrimp in the dish (very small shrimp) and the rest of the dish was vegetables. Usually when we get this at other places the Shrimp is the featured item not the vegetables, this was a new spin on Kung Pao Shrimp for sure. The Lo Mein had a uneven distribution of sauce while they were sauteing the noodle so some bites were overpowering with flavor and others had none. The Lo Mein also had very little chicken in it.
The ugly: crab rangoon, I have had different styles of this at different places. I prefer it to be sweet with cream cheese and artificial crab meat. The crab rangoon offered by Hunan is a salty version with a not very creamy filling (it almost had the consistency of ricotta cheese).
Overall this place is a 3 out of 5 stars. I have had much worse chinese but i have also had better. In the Manassas area I still haven’t found a better one than Twin Lakes.

Had a taste for chinese one day for lunch. Went in and stood at the counter while my food was prepared. We have ordered from them countless time as delivery for dinner. From beginning to end I was turned off by the lack of hygiene used. The girl as a cashier, handeled cash, then touched egg rolls, and chicken wings etc. She used her hands to open up the cellophane containers for the egg roll. Never washed once. When I was sure she was starting mine, I pointed out the health issues, and she complied on my order, only. The delivery driver stood around the back where the fryers are and handled the chopped veggies waiting to be used in the dishes. Why would you pick up a few pieces of carrot, examine them, then place them back. THE DRIVER. ugh. On two occasions that I have ordered to be delivered after this, I have had cockroaches crawl out of the box, on to my kitchen counter. All of these times I have made a report to the Health Dept. Just looking around the kitchen and food prep areas are enough to keep me from ordering from here ever again. The food wasn’t bad, but the health risks, and lack of respect for the law and health of their customers… well I think I have said enough…
