History

Established in 2002.

Herve, the owner and Founder of HMS Plumbing, LLC has been in the plumbing industry since he was 16 years old and living in Nice, France. He studied under his uncle who owned a small business. In those days, plumbers in France were considered craftsmen, and it took years of schooling and supervised apprenticeship to be considered worthy to carry on the trade. When he moved to the United States, he worked for many plumbing companies. He noticed that with most of the companies he worked for, the craftsmanship and work ethic that is integral to the trade was sorely lacking. The stress of the quota systems and high pressure sales techniques did not sit well with Herve either. He was determined to do thing differently. Transparency is an important part of customer care so that is why we are not shy to quote our prices over the phone. Transparency, Quality, and Workmanship are the foundations of HMS Plumbing, LLC. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

I get home and hear the sound of a water fountain… except I don’t have a water fountain so I rushed downstairs and noticed that one of the sinks had popped and water was flowing up and down into the bathroom floor… I called HMS and met Doug, who explained what had happened and helped replace sink and adjusted water pressure.
Last time I had a pipe burst due to cold weather (and not shutting off valves for winter…) they took care of what could have been several thousand dollar fix for what I felt was fair (under $ 500 I think).
The bottom line is HMS is honest, fair and gets the job done. I’m happy to recommend them as a trusted service provider.

Will, the Master Plumber was nothing put informative and explained everything that was happening with my well pump. Everyone was polite and courteous throughout this endeavor. He went above and beyond what was needed. If I have one complaint it would be that I think they are a little over priced. But then again you get what you pay for and quality is not cheap.

My main water line was leaking just below the shut off valve in the basement. When speaking to Diana on the phone, she was very helpful and knowledgable. She quoted me a price on the phone. She was able to get a technician to my house within the hour the day after a snow storm.
The technician, Will, assessed the issue and replaced the appropriate pipe, shut off valve and connectors to the regulator valve. He said the regulator valve looked to be in good condition and so he did not try to up sell me which would have been an additional 300 – 400 on top of the quoted price.
I did not have any surprises in cost or issues. Will was very professional and efficient. I will use them again for plumbing needs.

Yesterday, Saturday morning at approximately 9am, I called HMS plumbing first upon report that my tenant found a water leak underneath the water heater. I picked them from their website alone wanting to do as much of this over the phone as possible. I spoke with Diana, who was truly easy to work with, straight forward, and pleasant. She answered all my questions and happily spoke directly with the tenant to get the best understanding of the situation. By 1pm that day, the new water heater was in…(the old one was 14 years old). There were no emergency fees, weekend, or last minute charges. The price she gave me on the phone was the one charged. They were able to work with the tenant directly also, which saved me from having to go and monitor the installment. Overall, I would definitely work with them again and again!

Despite of all the negetive reviews my wife and I decided to give HMS plubing a shot last Friday when our water just stoped working. I called and spoke to Diane about our problem in which she was very plesent and polite on the phone. She said she would send a Plumber out Right away. Keep in mind this was 10pm on a Friday night. An hour and a half later Will arrived at our door who was shy but polite after about 20– 30 mins later he had his diagnosis which was our well pump is out and needs to be replaced. Estimate in hand i thought i would price check it in the morning with some other people. So the next moring I began calling everyone i could find in the area for priceing on a well pump replacement low and behold HMS was the cheapest so i decided to go with them. Not expecting this to be fixed today i called Diane to schedule the an appointment and they came out again within an hour or so with a crew of six one being Herve Her Husband and Owner of HMS.2 hours later i had a new well pump and water pressure throughout the house. I cant say enough on how great everyone was, they where polite, respectful and very well mannered professionals. The Best Part of all of this is the Fact Herve comes up to me with the final bill and says to me we i know its the holidays and everyone could use a break so i knocked off a hundred bucks off the bill to help you and your family out. I was Shocked and very thankful. Bottum line is they are great, honest and trust worthy i would’nt use anyone but HMS for all of My plumbing Needs. My review is, in fact, toward the appropriate company; the employee providing the service was Wil. An Initial complaint concerning their service was disregarded, and continued contact with this company is both useless and profitless.
If only this company was as attentive toward customer service as they are to browsing Unilocal,belittling customers, and deflecting responsibility, perhaps they could improve their reputation.

I would not recommend HMS Plumbing. We had a leak in our Condo Hot-​Water heater closet, the Condo Association called HMS plumbing and they were told someone would be at our Condo between 1 and 3 the next day. The plumber (Will) did not arrive at the unit until almost 4pm, and prior to that he was outside helping jump-​start someones car. We did not receive any notice he was running late. To make matters worse the plumber ended up breaking one of our patio tables trying to stand on it to get a better reach of the valves and all he said was sorry. He tightened a dripping value and said this may be the issue and to keep an eye on it. We received a bill from the Condo Association who had gotten the bill from HMS for $ 210 for a 15 minute job. and it turns out what the plumber did didn’t even fix the issue, we had a different plumber come out that night and it turned out the hot water heater was leaking. Calling HMS on the phone they were less then sympathetic and kept rambling about how great their prices are. As it currently stands I would not use or recommend this company.

These guys ROCK!!! My brand new Stanley Martin home began flooding in the basement this evening. I didnt hear the sump pump running and so i knew right away that i needed someone to get out and install a new one. I found thier number and called and within 2 minutes, Herve called me back. We walked through a few quick diagnostic questions and within the next 2 minutes he was on his way with a brand new sump pump. I am writing this review at 1:16am. I first contacted HMS at 11:26pm. In under 2 hours, HMS completely mitigated my flooding, installed a new sump pump, identified the cause of the failure so that i can write an intelligently worded and scathing email to Stanley Martin. These guys are A++++ and i will never use another company again.

I’m a remote landlord, so when I’m looking for a repair company I want them to be trustworthy. I saw HMS Plumbing in the Washingtonian Guide for contractors, and gave them a call. They quoted the repair price over the phone, showed up as scheduled, and sent me a reasonable repair bill, even though they had the authorization to do the more expensive replacement option. I’ll use them again for sure.
