Able Moving & Storage

I was very happy with the crew that did the physical move but the packing crew was horrible, even malicious. When we started to unpack our first thought was that the packers were just stupid but as we continued to unpack it became clear that they intentionally destroyed items and went out of their way to cause problems. Every silk flower arrangement was packed at the bottom of the box with heavy items on top. Why would you pack 5 right shoes in one box and the matching shoes in another box? Why would you pack the coffee maker from the kitchen with toiletries from the upstairs bath? Why would you use sweaters as packing material instead of using packing paper? We had daily prescription drugs clearly labeled «Do not Pack» that were packed and not found for 4 days. When my wife noticed the drugs were missing on packing day she questioned the entire packing crew and no one confessed to packing them. We found the box after 4 days with the «Do not pack» note in the bottom of the box. The packers labeled boxes as Rm 1 and Rm 3 but apparently didn’t give the decoder ring to the moving crew so the boxes ended up in the wrong rooms. Box contents were labeled incorrectly such at «rugs and toiletries» while there was no rug in the box. My wife and I each have a sock drawer with carefully matched and folded socks. The packers dumped both drawers into one box and must have intentionally mixed them up. The list goes on and on and on …
When Able was first contacted with the complaints they insisted that it couldn’t be. I asked an Able representative to come see for himself and when he saw the packing work he just shook his head. Able did take half of the packing labor off the bill but this really didn’t compensate for the time spent without the prescription drugs or the hundreds of hours we have spent trying to sort out our belongings again. This can’t be Able’s quality standard or they would have been out of business long ago.

I used Able for my recent move and they were the most professional, pleasant and competent movers I have encountered out of several companies I’ve used in the past. They were tireless, just kept going the whole time. They clearly had a method for handling and packing everything and they all knew it because they worked together really well and quickly. And they were careful, and all my items arrived safely.
Also all the dealing with the company before the move was very clear and easy. Can’t say enough good things about both the company and the staff.

This was my first time ever hiring movers for a move. I was moving from my one bedroom apt to a townhouse basement rental. So had maybe two rooms of furniture, a bedroom set and a sectional living room set and lots of boxes. i was putting some in the rental and lots of boxes in storage so it was a two stop move. first the booking was quite easy. i could do it all over the phone. the deposit was just one hour of service then the rest was pre authorized on my card day before the move. I booked a two man crew for three hours. and to my surprise they were able to do the whole move including wrapping my furniture and moving it to the new place and getting everything neatly stacked in my storage unit in literally three hours. I was amazed and felt a little guilty cause i really didnt have to do anything but watch and point to where stuff went. lol but all in all this was the best decision i made and when i am ready to move again i will definitely use their services again.

As I and others looked in disbelief, these guys had the nerve to park in front of handicap parking blocking the spot. Unloading furniture as to ignore drivers who needed to occupy that spot. There were several elderly people who just drove off who clearly needed the space. I had to actually get out of my car, walk up to them, and say «Uh hello, you do know you are illegally blocking the handicap parking»?

We have used Able for two commercial moves and they are exceptional. The pre move planning activities were helpful, timely and effective. We had a terrific team for our move who were so professional, helpful, extremely efficient, very customer focused. They quickly adapted to our last minute changes and the move was a total success! Exceptional service for a very reasonable price.

Able moving completed a small but interstate move for me and exceeded my expectations at each turn. They were not cheap, but after researching several other options including pods and both local and other national moving companies these guys’ estimate came in at least $ 500 under the rest. Pods wanted nearly twice as much. The pick up at two different locations and delivery was coordinated smoothly; Connie was always super helpful at the main office and Rush, who delivered, could not have been more professional. I have been moved several times by different companies and would use these guys again in a heart beat. All the furniture was packed very carefully and Rush took meticulous care to be gentle with all placement of pieces not to scratch anything including the floor and took plenty of time to make sure each piece was exactly where I wanted it to be. We just moved into our apartment today and Able Moving & Storage delivered our stuff. They did a fantastic job. Yerlan and Diogenes were the movers that handled everything and they were great; very efficient and courteous. I also loved how careful they were not scratch any doors, walls, or floor. They actually put stuff on the doors and floor to ensure nothing got ruined. I will definitely used this company for my next move and I recommend them to others.

This company was highly recommended to me by a friend in the state department so I was very confident. They exceeded my expectations!
They were efficient and polite. They showed up 10 minutes early and it ended up costing me less than the estimate.

My husband and I recently moved to northern VA from Roanoke. They did a great job, from packing our items to delivering them. The latter was hard because there is no elevator so they had to carry items up 3 flights of steps. Helena was helpful with setting everything up. We also have to reserve parking for the moving truck and she was able to do that with the county. We will definitely hire them for any future moves.

I never used a moving company so professional before. Able handles belongings with care and finishes in a timely manner. Everyone was great, from the estimator to the movers, and coordinator Stephanie is tops!

Beware…
This company requires a deposit made by a debit or credit card. It makes it hard to get your money back when they don’t complete the job.
The mover arrived on the latter part of the hour they had agreed to arrive. They were suppose to be there between 8 and 9. They came at 9. This was the beginning of how they were going to eat up time.
1– The mover had little ability to speak English.
2– He arrived with a list of items I specifically said was not necessary;
paper, and wardrobe boxes.
3– The mover stated that he could not take TV from the wall mount, even though the sales representative assured me that it would be done. I called the operation manager who spoke to him and mover reluctantly said he would take it down. All of this took up time for the move.
4– He then placed a document for me to sign with terms and conditions folded over so I couldn’t read it, insisting that I sign the document without reviewing it. I had to wrestle it from his fist. When I read that payment was due before the truck could be unloaded, he changed the subject and referred to something else on the document, speaking in spanish.
I asked him to leave and his operation manager will call him
5– When I approached the truck outside to say his services won’t be needed, he was blowing his nose by blocking one nostreal and shooting snot onto the pavement. I thought, I don’t want him to pack my white dishes.
The Operation manager called and said that the movers time would have to be compensated for even
I cancelled the $ 155 deposit and blocked any further payments by them.
They took the money anyway.
Because I depended on Able Moving and Stowage to do what they promised, I was at placed at a disadvantage needing movers at the last hour. I believe they were trying to take advantage of me by overcharging me for items I didn’t request and eating up time.
Folding over the document and insisting that I sign it was the last straw for me. They wasted my time and kept the $ 155.00 deposit.

Terrible experience. For starters, they quoted me one price, and after they moved me and I started to write out the check, the price doubled. After I started unpacking, I started noticing things missing. In all I probably had about 5 – 6 boxes missing, everything from DVDs to clothes to kitchen wares. I will NEVER use these people again.

Able gets an A+ from start to finish from me. I received an estimate from another company that didn’t sound quite right (they asked me to tell them how many rooms in our house and any significant pieces of furniture and based an estimate off my responses), and decided to call Able. They sent Shawn, who walked through the house, did his own estimate of how many boxes we’d need, how long the packing would take, and how long the actual move would take, instead of leaving to me. Most important for our family was the allowance they made for us to store our things on the truck for two nights, because we had to close before we could move in to our new place. On the packing day, three people showed up to pack everything carefully and professionally and quickly. On moving day, four guys showed up and packed that truck the gills. Then, two days later, the same four guys showed up to unpack the truck. This made box and furniture placement easy in the new place, a since the guys were already familiar with the furniture placement in the old house. In addition, the guys were very good about asking for clarification on where things went (Thanks Noël, Max, Rob and Anthony), and helped me unpack the contents of an additional storage pod.
Moving is stressful but Able brought it down to a manageable level. I recommend them without reservation, and would call them again in a heartbeat.

I just used their services to move apartments. They had with the single most professional moving company and crew I have ever used. They were professional, timely, and did an awesome job without breaking anything while coming in right at the quoted price. I will definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a moving company in the future.

I have had Able move me 3 times over the past 10 years and every time had a terrific experience. They have kept their same quality of service as they have grown. I can see why they have grown to be the première moving company in Northern Va. You still get that family based service, attention to detail, and care for your furniture that I received the first time that they moved me. Tommy was the driver 2 times, he and his crew were on time, respectful, and EFFICIENT. They didn’t take 20 smoke breaks, carried multiple boxes on their backs with a strap, wrapped all of my «important» items, and beat the time that was estimated. I will only use 1 moving company. Able is definitely a great experience and 5 star worthy.
