Grooming

Yappie Cuttery offers grooming to your specifications for dogs, cats and birds by our licensed and certified staff. Ask about our V.I.P. program that offers savings of up to two groomings a year, plus a teeth cleaning, flea treatment and a massage at no additional charge.

Luxury Accommodations

We offer boarding for dogs and cats. Dogs relax in sanitary, stainless steel kennels and are exercised in our indoor and outdoor play rooms. All dogs are exercised a minimum of three times a day for up to 30 minutes each. They are sure to be dog tired after a day of activity, and can rest on their own pet cot or fleece bedding. Cats relax in our peaceful cattery with a wooded view. All cats have their own litter box and multi-​tier accommodations. They can bask in the sun, play with toys, romp in our cat play area or watch a movie. We assure you, they will be purrring with pleasure. We also have accommodations that cater to geriatric and special needs pets.

I been taking my dog to get all his shots and haircuts here for the past 9 years. I don’t think I ever had a bad experience when I take my dog to get a haircut here. The people are really nice here and they really care about your pets.

We have had two experiences in the last month with Yappie Cuttery. Our first was for grooming and all went well. The second was for a 4-​day boarding stint. The care seemed to be good and a happy, healthy dog was returned to us. Our only issue was with pick-​up. We tried to pick up a day early, which was on a Sunday due to our trip being cut short. We arrived during their posted pick-​up time (8 – 11 a.m.). They wouldn’t release our dog to us because we hadn’t prepaid and they don’t accept payment on Sunday. I was very displeased and pointed out that there is no notation of that in their boarding contract or on their website. I had to return on Monday to pick our dog up. Later that day, the owner called me and sincerely apologized for the inconvenience and said he would make sure that was clear in their communication from this point forward. Very classy in my book and we will try boarding there again.

After reading some mixed reviews, I decided to give Yappie a try. I wasn’t disappointed.
First of all, I have a Siberian Husky which is quite the grooming job. She even had some matted hair that I thought might have to be cut out. Yappie did a fantastic job with her grooming, and also got out all the matted areas. My dog came out happy, looking fresh, and smelling great. It was well worth the great service for a very reasonable fee. I will def go to Yappie again for my dogs grooming (seeing as I have a husky, it’ll probably be often).

I have boarded my dog at this facility on a few occasions. On one occasion, I picked my dog up and she was extremely lethargic. The following day the dog appeared to be in pain. I took her back to see the vet and she was given pain medication. I believe that the dog was injured in their care but there was no responsibility taken by them. There was no mention to me that my dog was injured when I picked her up from boarding. Ultimately, my dog required very costly spinal surgery. Earlier this year I was in a bind and needed to board my dog in an emergency. This was the only place that I could get her into on short notice. I figured that she would be fine since it was a very short term boarding. I picked my dog up and she was lethargic. The next day, I could tell that she was in pain and would not move around as usual. She appeared to have tenderness in her stomach. I took her to the emergency vet. It was indicated that she had some type of trauma to her stomach area. She was placed on pain medication for a few weeks. Fortunately, her issues resolved with medication and crate rest. Since my dog cannot talk to me, there is no proof that she was abused by the staff. I find it oddly suspicions that the only injuries that she has sustained in her 5 years of life have been closely related to her stays in this kennel. Needless to say, I will NEVER take her back there. I wouldn’t suggest anyone take their small dog there for boarding.

We just moved to Manassas, and after seeing the glowing reviews from others on Yappie Cuttery, we thought we’d take our little dog there for a grooming. Unfortunately we had a very bad experience. Our dog was badly matted, so the groomers had their work cut out for them, I know. But our hope was that they would be qualified professional groomers and be able to handle the job. Unfortunately, they ended up cutting our dogs neck with the clippers in the process of grooming her. We were very disappointed that a well reviewed, professional dog grooming service could not remove her mats and groom her without injuring her. She had to have stitches in her neck as a result. Luckily they had a vet available on staff to perform the stitching. We weren’t charged for the vet services of course, but we were charged the full price of grooming even though they hurt our dog in the process. The owner was unapologetic, took no responsibility, used the dog’s matted condition as an excuse for hurting our dog, and even blamed us for letting our dog’s hair get matted in the first place.
As far as the grooming itself, the groomers clearly do not even know how to perform a teddy bear cut, which is very common and which even a novice groomer should be able to do. While we asked for teddy bear cut, they basically just used the clippers over her entire body (head and face included), with no attention to any detail or styling whatsoever. There were bald patches where they had clipped too close to the skin (and she had other nicks where they had cut my dog but didn’t admit to).
We understand that it is difficult to groom a matted dog, but that is exactly why we are paying for the service of supposedly trained professionals and after reading the reviews here and elsewhere, I had hoped that they would be able to handle it here. Well we’ve learned our lesson and will not return. I hope others will not have to share the same experience.
If you have any concern about the quality of the grooming of your dog or even the health of your dog, I highly recommend against bring your pet here.

My dog goes to Doggie Daycare here, the staff are WONDERFUL! My puppy does great, I’ve never had a problem. I trust my dog with this staff! The great part about Doggy Daycare here is they also offer Vetrinarian Services, and Grooming. It’s like a one stop shop for your Dog! Which for the everyday working adult, it’s a great help!

The facility itself was beautiful, large, and very clean, and the staff was friendly to work with (though it did seem as if the front desk was neglected). But, the most important aspect of a grooming salon is the grooming experience itself, and we were disappointed with our pups cut. Despite taking 6 hours to complete, many typical aspects of a cut were ignored. For example, they did not clip his nails, trim his tail, ears, or around his snout, trim the hair between his pads, or express his anal glands. Cost was similar to others in the area (though should have been less considering all that was not done).

Had been taking our small sized dog here for the past few years. This was recommended to us by a friend of my brother’s. My dog is nervous, not too social so we understand how scared he is in new places. Initially the first year or two was fine. The upstairs is clean and open. The downstairs where you’re supposed to go to bring your dog for boarding sometimes someone’s there, sometimes no.
A year ago we asked to see where our dog would be staying in the back. The cleanliness up front, doesn’t quite match the rest of the facility. We walked down these super steep stairs, which for our short-​legged dog, is quite a journey. We walked past the swimming pool which wasn’t in use and saw the kennels row by row. I don’t quite remember the entire tour but I do remember something catching my attention that even today still kind of disgusts me. Maybe it was a rag, I’m not sure.
Earlier this summer we needed to take him. My mother wanted to go down with our dog and noticed that the guy, instead of picking him up, kept trying to pull our dog down the stairs. If he isn’t handled correctly, our dog could be injured easily or fall. To make matters worse, a few days later our dog’s right hind leg was acting funny and the vet said he had intervertebral disk disease. Whatever, I still thought it was strange that this would happen so all of a sudden after coming from Yappie’s.
Thankfully he’s much better now but we have decided to no longer take our dog to Yappie’s and are searching for a better facility.

Smelly place! We left our chocolate lab here for a week. We asked for them to give her a bath and now she smells funny as well. The picking up process was also painful! The staff was simply clueless!!! If they can’t handle the pick up process (just three people picking up at the same time) how are they dealing with all these pets?!
AND they need have the waiting area in back cleaned ASAP!
We won’t comeback!

Ive been taking our scruff monster here for a couple years. He’s a non shedding big black cockapoo. We take him camping and trail running, and boy– he gets nasty. They usually have appointments within a day or two of calling. Drop off is between 6:30−9, so that’s easy enough. They will call when the dog is complete, and check up a day or so later to make sure you’re satisfied.
They have great staff, and fair prices! I can’t think of anything to complain about. Give them a try!

Most people only write about life’s BAD experiences, so I thought I would write one about the good (normally, I never write about anything… but I thought this was worth it). My Lhasa-​Poo Budzy (yeah, he’s da best!) requires a daily grooming schedule. I was taking him to another place that was charging me close to $ 70 every 5 weeks for their grooming services. Well, I just so happened to almost literally STUMBBLE across Yappy Cuttery in Manassas Park. The staff there seemed nice so I decided to give them a try with Budzy’s curly grooming needs. When I picked him up at the end of his session, not only did he look and smell great, but the price was… well, right on the money! For $ 38 bucks (yeah, damn near HALF what I was normally paying) Budzy came out looking like a champ!
I must say, he will be going back there every 5 weeks instead. :o)
