Sakura Sushi

What a wonderful Japanese dinner. I was craving sushi, found the reviews here on Unilocal and gave it a try! Thanks fellow Unilocalers! I really loved this place. My husband and I ordered the Beef Negimaki Bento box and it was delish. It was also huge with tons of food for only $ 15. Oh and our server, Devin was awesome and made our dining experience even more enjoyable! Definitely go but don’t tell too many people, OK. I still want to be able to get a table.

I tried Sakura for the first time, and it was very good. No «atmosphere» to speak of, but it was a clean, cute little place, and the waitress was polite and fairly attentive. Food was tasty and presentation was great. We ordered several specialty rolls, a sushi pizza, seaweed salad, and miso soup. Everything was good to very good. (My nieces, who are more familiar with a different preparation for sushi pizza, were disappointed in this appetizer, but I enjoyed it.)
Probably a four star meal, but I got very nauseous later that evening, and I am not sure of the cause, so I am conservatively offering three stars until I give Sakura another try.

We found this restaurant on a whim… We usually go to another place but wanted to try a new restaurant. Wow this is our Favorite Sushi place. The sushi is so fresh and delicious, and the Staff is very nice and accomodating. I recommend anyone who loves sushi to give them a try… My only downfall is its a little too small as they get so busy it would be nice if they had a bigger space…:)
If you haven’t tried Sukura then you really need too!!!

This is place is moderately priced. Sushi was fine (not the best but not bad). Wife and I went for lunch to get Sushi. Service was very good. Worth a shot if you are looking for reasonably priced Sushi.

Wow! A hidden gem that’s 5 minutes from home. Kicking myself for not trying them sooner. Ordered a few different rolls for New Year’s eve and was going to make my own platter out of it. Didn’t have to! They did it for me. Everything was delicious and so fresh. 3 days later we went to dinner with another couple and ate at the restaurant. It’s not very big, so I imagine it can get crowded pretty fast. The waitress was perfect. She was knowledgeable, very attentive without being overly attentive and really sweet. She was super nice and obviously very good with people. Between the four of us, we ordered four very different dishes. Beef negimaki, sashimi, a paradise roll (special of the day) and a lobster tempura roll. All excellent and I know because we all shared a piece of what we had and we all thought each dish was great.

First timer and take out consists of Black Dragon, Fire Stone & Mt. Fuji Rolls. Also had the beef teriyaki Bento box, Kani salad and Hibachi Fried rice. I can’t wait to try the other rolls. I can forgo the beef Teriyaki. The place looks small but clean and cozy. Will try to stop in cause lunch menu is cheap!

I’ve been here a couple times, most recent was lunch with friends. Small restaurant with Japanese décor and clean. Good number of tables with sushi bar in the back.
My friends and I mainly eat sushi here, so I this review is based on that. The sushi and sashimi is fresh. The quantity is average. The sushi rice to fish ratio is good. Don’t laugh but that makes a huge difference in my overall satisfaction. Another quality is the rice flavor or stiffness. Too much vinegar or too stiff and the meal quality goes down, and that’s my issue here with Sakura. It’s tough to enjoy the food when I’m struggling to chew the roll, even with soy sauce. The rice here is on the stiffer side.
The wait staff is helpful without being too intrusive. The menu is standard — usual Japanese appetizers, sushi (cooked/​raw), sashimi, kitchen entrees, etc. Prices are decent. Lunch menu has affordable prices for sushi and sashimi as well as bento boxes.
Would come back with friends but not my restaurant of choice.

Love this place! Everything is always fresh and delicious. I asked if they could make the rolls without rice and they did and everything was delicious. So happy to have this gem in our backyard!

The sushi here is amazing! The fish taste so fresh! The sushi is so divine. Not only that the hibachi, udon and all the other cooked dishes have an excellent flavor and taste!

Very reasonably priced and excellent quality sushi. Extensive menu. Sushi was extremely fresh and they had Toro (fatty tuna) the evening we went which is not normally available. It was excellent fresh and very tasty. The eel Unagi was very good as was the Magical roll. Definite return warranted.

Solid choice for sushi in the area. Everything we had was good and they had some unique stuff on the menu (like the sushi pizza). The restaurant is pretty small inside and if it’s crowed you will be sitting on top of other people. Service was very friendly.

My only complaint is that i wish they had more vegan/​vegetarian options for their lunch special. Their was literally one roll that was vegan on the menu, and the other veggie options you had to pay full price.

One of the best hibachi and teriyaki food places in the area. Great white and brown rice. Food is very fresh and good quality. People are very nice and deliveries are pretty quick. My go to place from now on for hibachi and teriyaki dishes.

Probably the best quality sushi in the neighborhood. I usually order a California roll, spicy salmon roll, and shrimp tempura roll. All very fresh. In terms of hot food, I’ve only had the Pork Katsu Don and its very good.

Who knew some of the freshest and tastiest Sushi is in a tucked away within a strip mall. I tried this place for the first time a week ago and I’ve been back twice since. The sushi is super fresh, delicious and truly beautiful. My favorites include the Fantastic roll, the Kani Salad and the Yaki Nasu. I’ve had these before but never so delicious. The service is good and the atmosphere is casual. The prices are reasonable and it’s BYOB. A hidden gem.

WOW, what a great A++ local sushi place. Been here many times for lunch and dinner since the Bamboo China owners took it over. They did a great job renovating. The food is great and always as fresh as can be. I highly recommend their Bento Boxes for lunch. I’ve been to other Zagat recommended Sushi Restaurants that cannot hold a candle to Sakura Sushi.

Small nicely decorated local sushi place in strip mall in a highly residential area of Manalapan.
Miso soup and seaweed salad was as you would expect and the sushi was of good quality.
Great local spot for pick up or a quick lunch or dinner!
Upgraded to 5 stars!

Went here on a fluke, the service was great and we got seated right away. Very nice atmosphere in this small gem. We ordered the clear soup, fried chicken app and sushi. I’d skip the fried chicken app it’s pretty similar to chicken nuggets but the sushi and soup were stellar! I’ll be coming back!

This is definitely one of my favorite sushi places around. They have some really unique rolls. Sushi has always been delicious and fresh. Service is great too.
The only thing that could make it better is if they offered half price sushi at some time.

I have gone here 3x thanks to some recommendations and groupon. I believe they are the same owners as bamboo china on Union Hill Rd and that is my fav chinese food place in the area so knew this place would be good as well. The sushi is really good and fresh, and the price is not that expensive — just right. I also ordered the vegetable udon once and WOW that was amazing! Great for a cold day and very filling!
I always got my food to go and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Glad it is in the area and will definitely continue to go here when I get a sushi/​japanese craving (even without the groupon! ;)
