P3 Ski & Snowboard Shop

My daughter’s snowboard binding broke while riding Mammoth so I stopped into P3 to see if they could maybe help me. I was shocked. The P3 Snowboard Think Tank showed up: 3 young kids, late-​teens and/​or early-20’s. They were tripping over each other trying to come with a solution for my broken binding. I have been riding for over 20 years, let me tell you something, these kids knew there stuff, and they were very respectful. Really, I am just blown away. So refreshing to see «kids» act like problem-​solvers with an opinion that commands respect. A Big Shout Out to all the Young Guns at P3 ! Kudos to manager that hired all you punks too ;) I say lunch is on the shop owner today :)

Nice crew at p3, they gave me a good deal on a performance snowboard rental for a few days.
Actually bought jacket, pants, beanie and gloves here as well. AirPort to first down in the slope in 2h with help of them.

I called the shop to see if they had a pair of women’s snowboarding boots I’ve been looking around for. They had one pair, so I went over to the shop to try them on. They ended up being too large, but the guy who helped me with the boots was great! I wish I knew his name. He was really knowledgable and was very helpful with narrowing down correct sizing and softness versus stiffness of a boot, etc. Cool shop, we’ll be back!

P3 does it all. When we looking to rent a helmet for the eight year old, they stepped up while other shops didn’t even offer rentals. When I picked up a base shot in Jackson, they came through with a great base weld. And when I needed all the info on a new ski set-​up, they broke down everything I needed to know quickly.
I usually deal with Ray, but the rest of his crew is always on point. Highly recommended.

Mammoth deserves better free skiing dedicated shops. This place has a ridiculously bad customer service. Some workers apparently think that their «cool vibe» makes up for the bad costumer service.
One of the guys suggested me the wrong boots size for a demo. I went back later for bindings and asked another seller about the past mistake. He said it was my fault and became increasingly aggressive as I tried to understand why he was blaming me. I honestly got scared of his reaction because he was taking it very personally — e.g. Saying he’s not my parent. After this last experience I obviously didn’t buy the bindings. Footloose down the street offered better costumer service and the same bindings for cheaper despite not having the «cool vibe».

My boyfriend and I spend almost every weekend in Mammoth during snowboarding season, and we used to drop our stuff off at Wave Rave to get it tuned. Recently, however, some friends of ours got a questionable tuning job done on their gear, so we decided to try out P3 and see how their service fared.
We took my boyfriend’s Jones Aviator to P3 after doing some intense tree runs earlier that day, and the wax job they did was amazing. The base of the board felt smooth and brand new! He brought in his Never Summer Cobra in for a tuning, and we received the same service. A friend of ours also brought her board in, and instead of just taking her board and charging her for the service, they told her that her board honestly didn’t need any work at all, and it was fine as it was. The boyfriend also broke one of the BOA cables in his boot, and they fixed it for him within an hour for a nominal fee.
I also used to change my lenses out daily, but after talking to the employees at P3, I was given some good recommendations on lenses and haven’t had to change out my lens since. The guy who sold it to me even saved me a little money by selling me last year’s lens, which is identical to this year’s.
Since we have had so much work done within the last few days and are sort of locals now, haha, they hooked me up with a great deal on a pair of snow boots I had been eyeing for the last week. I even got recommendations on where to try some indoor rock climbing during the winter!
I don’t know what all these other negative reviews are about, but I am definitely a fan of P3. They might get a little busy some times for a small mom and pop shop, but that should speak to the quality of service they offer. If they are busy, they must be doing it right! They are extremely knowledgeable, give great service, carry a great selection, and are overall just pleasant people who show that they really want you to walk out a satisfied and happy customer. I’ll be coming here for all my tuning needs from now on. Thank you, P3!

We used p3 to rent skis and boots for my adult son. It was a good price of $ 60 for both. The problem was when my husband and son brought them back and were immediately accused of ruining one of the edges. My son went on the rails once, when he and my husband looked at the skis they honestly did not see what the store was making a fuss about. They were told that the manager would call the police if they didn’t pay $ 80 extra. It’s a sad thing because we would like use them again but their standards for normal use are unreasonable.

P3 is awesome, and they carry all the brands that their larger competition down the street doesn’t, so check ‘em out!

My boyfriend and I rented from this place twice. The first time was a pleasant experience. It was $ 25 per day for a snowboard and boots. It was quick, easy and painless. The second time we rented from there was a horrible experience. It took 40 minutes to rent the snowboard the second time because the binders weren’t on the snowboard and they took a really long time trying to find the screws for the binders.
This is not the reason I’m giving them 2 stars though. When we returned the snowboard, they charged $ 10 for a small dent on the board that was already there. When we told the guy that the dent was already there, he gave us a really bad attitude and just basically told us to pay up. I know it’s just $ 10, but it’s the principle.
If anyone decides to rent gear from this place, my suggestion would be to take a picture of your rental gear the day you rent it so you won’t be charged for something you didn’t do. Of course, I’m not renting from here again.

We were in Mammoth 2 weeks ago and rented skis for 2 of us & snowboard for 1. Ray, Andy & Dave were all so helpful, polite, friendly & kind. We were all very impressed and give them high scores. Happy skiing but please Watch out for Snowboarders. I got taken down by one & it is going to take months to recover! Cathy H.

I guess it depends on the sales person you get. We had a great experience with Ray. My husband left my entire snow gear at home and needed to make it work on a budget. Ray was able to rent me the helmet and boot — both fit like gloves and was only $ 17 for the day. He also helped me pick out some gloves just by looking at my hand. The gloves fit like Cinderella’s shoe. Wow. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He treated us like we were the only customers in the store and really focused all of his energy on us. Thank you!

Absolutely horrible customer service. Especially with their rep Dave. We bought 2 ski pants and rented gear for 4 people. The gear they gave us didn’t didn’t fit right for one of the girls, so we took it back early. They still wanted to charge us because «it wasn’t their fault» and we «should have known before we left». They actually charged us even though the skis and boots didn’t fit and we couldn’t use them. We also bought gear on sale and Dave said that we felt entitled to the sales price as if he regretted selling them. Hey Dave, if you don’t want to sell the gear, you shouldn’t have. But having horrible customer service and attitude toward your customers will cost you more in the long run. This isn’t about the $ 20 you charged for the gear that didn’t fit. It is about your despicable attitude. So Dave, here is the bad review I promised. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. AND, if you see Dave, he is the jerk that acts entitled.

This place was OK. The only reason I gave it an extra star is because it is a big shop with a lot to offer. Unfortunately, the customer service I experienced was one of the worst. I went in to check out the store. When I walked in, there was a man at the register who was working on the computer. He saw me walk in, glanced up at me, and continued whatever he was doing. No «How are you doing?» or «Are you finding everything Ok?». Employees walk right past you and don’t even ask you if you need help. Unbelievable.
Pros:
–Big selection of ski and snowboard gear, clothing, and accessories.
–Big-​name brands.
–Huge rental shop.
Cons:
–Very pricey.
–No summer clearance sales.
–Bad customer service.
–Rude employees.
I came in with intentions of buying a new snowboard set-​up but ended up leaving empty-​handed and disappointed at the lack of customer service I recieved. Meanwhile I took my business to the Mountain Center in the Village where I got good service and was also able to get 50% off during their clearance sale. Take your business there or to Wave Rave!

I love P3 and the excellent selection of snowboards that they offer. I have bought two boards from them and I am extremely satisfied with the last board I bought, a Never Summer. We do not live in Cali anymore, so we flew in here and I just brought my snowboarding boots: I needed rent a board! I wanted to rent a Demo board, so they recommended a Lib tech, and I was extremely satisfied with its performance. We will be coming back next season, and if I am going to rent or buy, I would definitely recommend going to this place. Why? because they specialize in snowboards, versus other places specialize in skis, but have a limited snowboard selection; not P3 — it is unlimited for the snowboarder out there. In addition, their customer service is excellent too, which is extremely important!

Pretty cool spot. Awesome selection of clothing, and their end of winter sale was pretty decent. Boot selection wasn’t as great, but the dude that helped us definitely had a higher wealth of knowledge compared to the other ski shops we’ve been to.
Awesome brands, though. Attentive customer service. Walk in and be greeted. Walk further inside and be asked if help is needed.

Thanks you for having a performance ski for a tall guy. So many place that I rent from have a poor selection for people my height and Im only 6′ 3″.

I have mixed feelings about P3. Once upon a time, it was a super cool store. I loved coming in here with friends to browse the merchandise, drool over new gear, and occasionally rent something.
As far as rentals go, the guys are super attentive and make sure you’re getting your sole mate (get it? …yeah.)
Regarding merch/​goody-​shopping, there was an additional wing at the front of the store that was full of women’s clothing and accessories. I’m not your typical shopaholic girl, however, when I see practical AND attractive gear, game on!
I guess rent was more than their profits because, as of last summer, the wing was closed off and women’s things were mixed in with men’s. No big deal; I come to Mammoth to ski, not shop, but they always had really great things. Nowadays, not so much.

Did not feel comfortable shopping their had someone keeping an eye on me the whole time like if I was gonna steal something? I asked for a price on a gnu binding and received a look from head to toe like if it was out of my price range… Whatever! I’ll just shop at wave rave, had better pricing and made me feel really comfortable and not like I was gonna steal or rob the place…

Won («Korean Won, not spanish Juan») is the man.
We came in the other day to check out some snowboard boots /​binding stuff, having been attracted by their 20−40% off sales (WaveRave was offering 10% off). But the prices could have been the same, and P3 would have been the choice. Won spent like 1.5 hours doing a boot fitting, and answering a jillion questions, making sure that my boy got taken care of. At the end of the day, we ended up with some awesome Ride boots at like 40% off (with a boa tightener system), so great Flux bindings, and a Smith helmet to protect the noggin, all of which have gotten great use charging the mountain in the days since.
Going forward, if anyone asks where they should go for snowboard gear in Mammoth, I will unequivocally say «P3…next to Schatt’s. Ask for Won.»
