I live in San Francisco and Oakland, and I have to say KMMT is such a breath of fresh air. The alternative stations I hear in San Francisco and Los Angeles play the same stuff over and over and over again and mostly male artists. KMMT plays a lot of female artists, a lot of b-​sides and stuff that you would normally only hear on a college radio station. I am A DJ myself, and I get a lot of inspiration from what I hear on KMMT. It is the last bastion of independently owned radio stations, that isn’t bought out by the record companies.

KMMT has to advertise themselves on their own radio station every other song. They don’t even have competition. I can understand the dentist music during the day, but at night? It would be great if they created a locals slot at night and let guest DJ’s come in and get experience and showcase different genres. Or work with the local high school or college and create an internship based program. Hope the programming improves, they are getting killed by my Pandora stations.

KMMT is one of the top radio stations in Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding area. They play the largest variety of music and have great specialty programming. I listen in Olancha when the signal first comes in on 105.5, moving through Bishop at 102.3, Mammoth on 106.5 and North on 107.7.
