Best Breeds Puppies and Kittens

There is clearly a campaign here to destroy the reputation of this business by animal activists. I love animals at least as much as the next person and have been in this store dozens of times. Have not seen any of the things described in these reviews. All have access to water and food is provided at meal times. There is no evidence that I have seen anywhere that points to the owners not getting the animals from where they claim to have got them. Sounds like more fake activism based on the stereotype of puppy mills, which this place is not. All the reviews here are based on the condition of the store which is tell tale. There is not one negative review that deals with the health or happiness of an animals that was purchased. The workers that I have seen there are always on top of the maintenance of the living spaces for the animals. Most of the dogs are tiny and fit quite well in their spaces. I have never seen dogs that looked lethargic or sad. Quite the contrary. I have never made a purchase here but certainly there are worse choices.

I purchased my Mal-​Shi puppy from them in October 2015. Wicket is healthy and very happy. The store itself is small and smells badly because there are about 15 – 20 puppies in the store. The workers there do there best to clean out the stalls as the puppies go to the bathroom but of course it’s a constant battle for 2 people to handle with that many puppies to care for.
I have been present when they fed the puppies and when they are done eating they take the bowls away. The store manager is a very nice woman who was extremely helpful as we came in to visit Wicket 3 times and I asked a ridiculous amount of questions before actually purchasing him. I am sure we will be back to get a companion for him in the near future.

This place is horrendous and should be put out of business! The poor puppies had no water on a 90 + degree day. They look somewhat malnourished and the girls who work at the store do absolutely nothing! I would love to put the owner of this store in a cage in a room with no air conditioning and no water and sit in his own urine and see how he gets along! Animals can not fend for themselves and stores like this need to be gone! I would have put 0 stars if allowed!

Created a Unilocal account just for this place. On the day that we went inside it was 98 degrees outside. Inside it was pretty warm as well. However, the puppies had no water. And with no, I mean, absolutely zero. I notified the girl who was in charge of the shop of the lack of water, but didn’t seem like she cared. She was as apathetic as some of the puppies. Just freakin sad. Makes me wish this place goes out of business asap.

Smells awful. Puppies are in super tiny areas with no food. Water bowls were empty when I was there. All the puppies seemed tired and/​or depressed. Place is awful. Hopefully it goes out business soon.

The owner of this store is notorious for getting puppies from mills and being shut down. From what I know, this is his third attempt at a store in the area. I walked into the store last week, and the place was being visited by at least 10 – 15 people with their children. Puppies were in filthy pens-​every one had shredded paper bedding stained with feces and urine. Children were handling puppies without supervision, and considering the fact that each puppy was stepping in its own filth, handling becomes more than gross. The potential for passing diseases is high.
The children were carrying the puppies around the store at will. There were two employees, one was on her cell phone and the other stood at the front desk without engaging with any of the customers or overseeing the cleanliness or safety of the puppies.
Overall, the place is disgracefully managed, and for the sake of the community and the puppies, should be shut down and the owner heavily fined and made to never open another puppy store.

Fortunately i’m a pretty rational person and I’ve never before felt the urge to write about a business before on any of these types of sites– unfortunately today I had an experience that has prompted me to do so.
I visited the shop today with 2 of my roommates to search for a puppy. Typically, I wouldn’t choose a puppy store that imports their animals for puppy mills as my first choice in finding a pet, but we figured just to give it a try as they would have more of a selection than any pound and we were unwilling to spend more than $ 2000 on a dog and didn’t want to go through the long process.
During the visit we each pick up a pup, I end up choosing an adorable Dachshund who quite honestly looked a bit tired after probably a long day of being picked up and played with by people who have no intentions on buying him but rather posting photos on social media. I played with the dog, seemed sweet enough but decided to bring him back to his «tank» when he started becoming a bit rilled up. As i’m putting the dog back in its «tank» he hopped right out of my grip as I was just about to let him go back into his «tank» he ended up falling on his four paws but the girl who happened to be working at the place when I and my roommates were there began to scream bloody murder like I had just attempted dog homicide.
I quickly apologize, yes I realize that the dog could have become injured from my mistake of letting him jump out of my hands but apparently this wasn’t a good enough act of remorse. «I’m sorry! He just jumped out my reach, I didn’t mean to let that happen» I reinsure her, «you didn’t do this by accident, I was watching you» the woman is still yelling, making the whole shop and the dogs included stop what they’re doing. I apologize again, yes I am human, yes I make mistakes, no I do not walk into pet stores to drop puppies.
My friends and I quickly shuffle away from her and continue to look at some dogs this time we’re not petting them or picking them up from their «tanks». As we do so, the woman working at the register wastes no time to start criticizing not only me, but my friends as well who had no part in what had happened previously. Speaking loud enough for us to hear her, «these girls all come into these stores and act like little b****s and take pictures of these dogs for instagram while holding them and then drop them» i’m not sure if she was having an exceptionally bad day or if she was just trying to impress her friends who were hanging around the store that her job includes more than just watching sickly puppies get sicker, and occasionally she gets to make people want to leave the place as fast as they can.
I’m sorry but I think incidents like these must happen on a daily basis, the last time I was in this place maybe a few months ago some kids had the dogs on the floor roaming around and someone ended up stepping on one of their tails-​ouch. If you don’t want people to handle these dogs because you think they’re all out to commit some sort of puppy genocide, please, please, please DO NOT let them handle them. These are living, breathing animals just like any others they should not be confined to these «tanks» that are probably the size of the computer that i’m typing on right now, and they should not only get out to play and move around when they’re being taken out and walked around throughout the store with. Yes, it’s adorable to get to play with three puppies at once in a pen and yes, this probably attracts the large majority of their visitors who might eventually become customers but if you’re going to chastise your potential customers the same way not only I but my friends were then don’t give the option! Really just use your brains! Not as difficult as feeding these pups or giving them the proper exercise they need to develop and grow, but it seems like these people can’t do this either. Most of the dogs look pretty sickly and anxious to see people.
At one point in time I did enjoy coming into this store by occasion and seeing the dogs they had for display. But this whole experience has pretty much jaded this place for me for good. The girl who was working seemed more interested in trying to embarrass both myself and my friends to impress her friends who all quite frankly looked like college dropouts, not in a Steve Jobs kind of way, rather than looking after the dogs that she was hired to look after. For the dogs sake, shut this place down-​most of them look like as tired and rundown as their puppy mill counter parts.

This place is downright atrocious. The animals that languish here deserve so much better. Mamaroneck, and Westchester as a whole will be a much better place once this eventually shuts down. I just hope the animals the remain can find loving homes.
BTW-​what sort of dimwit buys an animal from a pet store /​puppy mill anyway? With all the shelter animals and breed specific rescues, you really have to be a moron.

It’s a pet store, too small for so many dogs and they sometimes carry Giant breeds. Should be closed down. No hand sanitizer either and anyone can grab a pup.

I am disgusted this puppy store was allowed to open here. I thought residents were educated enough to know pet stores buy from puppy mills. Puppy mills keep dogs in the cheapest environment, usually cheap food, small cage and breed them over and over to get the most money out of them. They are not given love or play. When their breeding time is over, they are killed. Please DO NOT buy from this place. Want to know what the owner is like? Google «Close down best breeds pet store» and you will see a picture of him getting arrested. If you think he is so legitimate, find out who the exact breeder is and go to the breeder. Any reputable breeder WILL NOT sell to a pet store. They care about their pets and their reputation and will only sell directly to a buyer. I see a yellow pages website with all these 5star reviews, I believe they are fake b/​c everyone I know is sickened that this store exists.

This puppy shop smelled like a barn when we walked in. Accidents happen though and the puppy boxes (not cages) looked pretty clean. Some puppies appeared a little too big for such a small space but hopefully they get plenty of fresh air and play time. I pet one Rottweiler puppy who was adorable but had a very dry nose and chewed on my hand a lot. Poor pups were teething with no chew toys or bones. I didn’t see food or water accessible. Water should have been visible but maybe that means more walks/​urinating in boxes– smell. A teenage girl employee came out from the back room with a green bottle of Air Wick air freshener and sprayed directly into each puppy space– on top of puppy heads or very very close. A few minutes later, I told the girl this wasn’t safe and she boldly denied doing it even though several of us had witnessed it. I spoke to the manager who said that wasn’t done there– air freshener was only sprayed upward in the room. I told her we had just witnessed it and she appeared angry. She said she doesn’t like when people think they don’t treat the puppies well (hmm, happen often?). I think she was more concerned for the reputation and getting 1000 for a poor puppy likely from a puppy mill than the health and well being of those animals. A sad experience overall. :(

I got pulled into looking at these puppies with a friend today. Upon opening the door, there was a horrible stench. My eyes burned inside. The puppies were in tiny boxes. They had no toys and looked really sad. Some of the puppies looked dirty. There were bigger puppies in small cubicles too that needed more room to move around and could not.
I left feeling really depressed and praying for the end of puppy mills because that is the only thing to put cruel stores like this out of business.
