Lucie’s Barkingham Palace

Got our two Shelties groomed here for the first time on Thursday. The staff was friendly on the phone and when we dropped our dogs off. We’re always nervous about taking them new places, but Lucie’s took wonderful care of them and they did the best grooming job ever!!! Great job and we’ll be back!

Lucie and her staff care about not only the dogs but making there «parents» feel good about leaving there dog there. We got our dog groomed there and they do not crate the dog as long as they behave. We called the day we wanted him groomed and they said no problem bring him in whenever and we’ll fit him in we got there at noon Lucie took us on s tour of the entire facility and asked us what time we would like to pick him up, he was promptly done at the agreed upon time. You can tell Lucie prides herself on customer service and her and her staff love animals. Lucie and her staff take care of your dog as if it’s there own.

Cut was cute, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. When I told them about my dogs dry skin they used a special shampoo that would help soothe his skin.

Our 4 month old, highly energetic puppy (Chopin) is like an entirely different dog after spending the weekend at Lucie’s, in a great way! We had to go out of the area for a wedding and we weren’t sure what to do with our new puppy. Being a first time dog owner, I was hesitant about boarding him. However, seeing such great reviews and reasonable prices, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try this place out for 2 nights. I especially liked that socialization and romping with other dogs with a large component of the stay.
I could tell I was leaving our pup in good hands right when I got there. I was immediately greeted by Lucie and her friendly staff. They allowed my pup to go into the grooming room to socialize with other puppies while I filled out paperwork. They also allowed me to tour the kennel area and see the play yard. It was a good sign to me that so many other dogs were there! Lucie asked specifics about our puppy’s crate routine and assured me they would do their best to make the stay as comfortable as possible. We also requested to have him get his first puppy groom while he was there.
When we came back on Sunday to pick him up, we were greeted by a freshly groomed and very tuckered out pup… which was a great sign! We knew he had a ton of puppy energy to get out, and Lucie’s was the perfect answer for that! Even the day after, he has been acting much more calm for us. We’ll definitely be taking advantage of the day care program for this reason! Thank you, Lucie & staff for an excellent first boarding experience for Chopin :)

Lucie and the staff were excellent with our GSD. Coming from out of town and considering her size and energy level, we weren’t sure who we could trust with our large pampered pooch and after the experience she had we wouldn’t take her anyplace else when we come to visit family again. You can tell that Lucie and the staff members all love animals and truly care about their well being, and the owners peace of mind too! They are extremely accommodating and take care of the dogs like their part of the pack. Four paws up!

Lucie’s Barkingham Palace is the best boarding/​grooming/​daycare facility around! I have trusted them with several of my pets for many years. They take excellent care of my babies and I feel great knowing that they are in such great hands!
They are kind, considerate and passionate about what they do. On several occasions, Lucie has offered her boarding facilities to rescue groups for dogs and cats that would have otherwise been euthanized. She is a life saver!

Our organization boarded a dog at this business from June 17^th until June 30^th. We had been in contact with them several times regarding our dog Tut, and had told them we were picking him up on July 2^nd. The morning of July 1^st, we received a call from Lucie saying our dog had been stolen! Lucie did not call the police, she did nothing. This is an ongoing case and she has not offered us any support or assistance. If you want your pet rehomed, bring it to Lucie’s! Needless to say, we would never leave another dog in her care!
Every kennel we have ever used we have paid when the animal was picked up. Had our dog not been given away or «stolen’ by this idiot, they would have been paid. Criminal charges are being pursued.

We have been coming to Lucie’s for about a year now. I am a small business owner that operates on word of mouth business. When I hear good things about a place, I need to go check it out. We have 2 dogs and one of them had separation issues, notice how it said HAD. Lucie and her team are great! Everyone is friendly and loves animals. Our dogs love going there and we love taking them there. Daycare, boarding and grooming are all amazing and the pricing is reasonable. We have been taking our dogs there every week, 1 or 2 days a week for the past year. I highly recommend Lucies to anyone who is looking for pet care. Any negative reviews about this establishment must have went to the wrong place.

We have used Lucie’s Barkingham Palace for years — first in Devon and now in Malvern — for regular grooming and boarding when needed. They are best-​in-​class.

Great doggy groomer. My dog is always happy there-​he loves the daycare. Keep the great job up. I wish they hadn’t moved from their previous location… although they are still worth the drive.

Lucie, her husband Jeff and the staff really care about the animals. I have been a long time customer and my dogs love the staff, they just like to visit to say hi. I know that I can leave my dogs in their care and that they will be safe. The nice thing about Lucie’s is that you can drop your pet off at daycare anytime and they don’t have a required amount of time that they have to stay, and great prices. I drop my dogs off, run an errand and then go pick them right back up. Also, your dog doesn’t have to be crated while they wait to get groomed which is what attracted me to Lucie’s in the first place. Another point to make about Lucie’s is if your dog is in daycare and is a little lame in the hips or injured they will make sure that your pet doesn’t play too much or too hard and keep them protected from further damage.
I recommend Lucie’s Barkingham Palace if you want your dog to feel safe, comfortable and like part of a family.

Love Lucie’s! We’re a daycare customer — large, open indoor play around, outside run, clean… Don’t mean to just repeat what some others have said, but it’s obvious that Lucie and her staff genuinely care about the animals.

Lucie’s recently moved from Devon to it’s new location in Malvern. After our first visit it is clear that Lucie’s is experiencing growing pains, with the addition of «Barkingham Palace» and new services such as daycare, boarding and training. A big reason that we liked Lucie’s was that they don’t crate dogs that are social. The dogs used to meander about amongst the groomers. At the new location, we were told that we would now have to pay additional charges for daycare, if we wanted to avoid a crate. Not a welcome change. I hope the folks at Lucie’s can iron out some of the kinks in the service and find a solution to using crates. Until then, 3 stars is all I can offer. Hopefully these issues will be addressed and Lucie’s will go back to a max. star experience.

A five woof review.
I like Lucie’s because our dog gets to hang out «free range» style with other doggie guys before and after his grooming. He isn’t just stuffed into a crate to wait his turn as dogs are dealt with at some franchised pet places. The groomers seem to really like their canine customers, in addition to doing a good job getting our pet clean and sweet smelling (or, at least until he rolls in something in the backyard at home).
*update: Lucie’s will be moving in the near future from its current convenient Devon location, farther out on Lancaster to Rte 29 in Paoli/​Malvern out by the new Wegmans. Reaction from Main Line doggies is :-(
