Malibu String Academy

My son started taking violin lesson with Malibu String Academy when he was 2 years old (almost 3). He has been learning violin with Dr. Maia Zander a little bit over 2 years now. Dr. Zander is a very patient violin teacher. My son loves her, and he has been progressing a lot in the past 2 years. My son now is 5 years old and able to play violin with the local middle school orchestra. We highly recommend Malibu String Academy!

My daughter Kea Lani, age 4 has been in Maia’s program for 6 months now and we are extremely pleased with our daughter’s progress. Maia is amazing in her ability to connect with and teach young children. We have and will continue to recommend her to all our friends. Here is a short clip from her lesson today

Dr. Maia Zander provides musical instruction in Malibu, California. I have worked with her professionally as a string teacher and conductor for more than two years and will attest to her abilities.
As conductor, I have observed Dr. Zander as being patient, positive and supportive to all of her students across the orchestras she leads. Using a mix of appropriately challenging music, her ensembles continue to grow in skill level and musicianship. In the times I have worked directly with these students as a coach, it is apparent that the students receive a solid foundation of technique, a broad swath of musical tastes and the encouragement and nurturing needed to cultivate young string players.
As a private teacher, I know Dr. Zander to be serious and goal-​driven in her approach to string teaching. While wrangling a studio upwards of 30 students, Maia displays unflappably fair and forward-​looking instruction uncommon among twenty-​first century teachers.
While I know that Dr. Zander excels in her professional endeavors at the Malibu String Academy and as teacher of Music Theory, A.P. Music Theory, and conductor of orchestra at Malibu High School, I also have been fortunate to acquaint myself with her to a level that I am proud to personally recommend her as a brilliant musician and pedagogue.
