Colony Cleaners of Malibu

Super convenient location, But comes with Malibu prices…
Mina is a life saver, I have been here two times with shirts to dry clean. She is knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to work with difficult clients. My first time I dropped off a large bag and it was really expensive, again this place is great for single items but not for large loads. On the other hand, it is worth the money because Mina was able to help me with a couple shirts I needed dry cleaned the same day before a flight, she went the extra mile and I really appreciate it, i will keep coming back!

We have been going to this dry cleaners for years. Best customer service in malibu when it comes to a dry cleaners. Our clothes are always cleaned and/​or altered beautifully. They get the clothes back to us in a timely manner and if we need it faster they always come through. Parking is easy, prices are great and when we receive our clothes, each item is folded and packed to perfection. We highly recommend them!

Shrunk and discolored our clothes. :(
We stopped in Malibu for 4 nights on a cross country Roadtrip. We dropped our clothes off and left town when they were closed. They shrunk and discolored everything. It was so wrinkled it must’ve been left in a washer overnight. We specifically requested cold water. They must’ve used hot water and Hugh dryer heat.
We called 3 times and the owner never called us back.

This place seemed great when i walked in. I needed a dress hemmed and thought ok they just have to cut off this fabric and then sew it. I told them what part could go and gave them an EXACT area to hem it to. My stepmom picked it up and told me that the cleaners said i instructed them to keep the dress the exact same– which i didn’t– and it cost $ 120. Needless to say, im furious. Dont get alterations done there.

I’ve gone back — The location is super convenient for me, and they do a great job! Still bummed about my initial experience, but I’ll get over it!

This is my favorite dry cleaners EVER! Mina always goes the extra mile for me, and with a smile to boot… Whenever I pull into the parking lot, she and her staff rush to pull my clean clothes, so they are presented ready at the front, right at the moment I step up to the counter. She takes my «fluff and fold» laundry, sorting it FOR me from drycleaning, plus has accepted several «special projects’ re sewing, such as seaming together curtains that were too short. She even made a trip downtown on her own, to find the plastic clasps that had broken off a dress’s straps. Amazing! I moved farther away from Colony, and yet still drive in for their impeccable service. I know that anything not exactly right will be checked over personally and made that way pronto (such as a stain that may have not come out initially), and I enjoy the interaction of the all who work there. I have a standing account, picking up my items without having to so much as sign my name, breezing in and out. Spoiled forever! Colony Cleaners, led by the marvelous Ms. Mina, is the best!

I’ll start with the positives: Mina and the woman who does the alterations are very nice. Also, the finished product with both of my dresses was what I wanted.
Negatives: I think this all boils down to communication. I dropped off two dresses, one for cleaning (red wine dripped on white cotton) and one for alterations (pulling in at the shoulder seams). I was told I’d be called if there were any questions or concerns.
When I came in to pick up my stained dress, it was handed to me with no explanation and nothing was said until I noticed the stain was still there. The girl helping me told me that they could try something else but they needed my permission first. I was mildly annoyed that I had to come in and find the stain myself instead of getting a phone call to save me the trip, but that wasn’t a very big deal and the dress was perfect the next time I came in.
The other dress was more of a problem. I picked it up a few days later, took it home, and tried it on. It wasn’t right. The shoulders weren’t done as had been discussed when I dropped it off and the shape of the dress was different making it fit me funny. Mina was very nice when I called and, after I came in again with the dress, she explained to me why it wasn’t possible to do what I thought was a simple alteration without changing the shape of the dress. That would have been perfectly fine — had someone called me before cutting into the dress. Mina gave me three options: a free re-​do, which would fix the problem of the dress not being done as discussed but not the changed shape, a $ 70 fix or a $ 110 fix (this on top of the $ 60 I already paid). At her suggestion, I went with the $ 70 fix, came in the day after it was supposed to be done, and it wasn’t there. It was there the next time I came in and it looks beautiful.
They do a very good job but I should have been called:
1. When they realized their initial attempt to get the stain out of my first dress was unsuccessful.
2. Before they cut into my second dress, which couldn’t be altered without changing the shape of the dress. By the time I was given options to fix it, my hands were tied. I couldn’t wear it as it was and I couldn’t return it, so I had to let them work on it more.
3. When the dress wasn’t back the day I was told it would be.
To end on positives: Mina did call me at home to explain my options. If she had everyone else communicating like she does when a problem is brought directly to her attention, I doubt any of this would have happened. One star for her and another ½ star for the woman who does the alterations, who was very nice. Both the dresses ended up very nice so another star and a half for the final result.

Absolutely LOVE Colony Cleaners and wouldn’t think of going anywhere else! Mina, the owner, runs a tight ship and you can trust that your clothes will be returned in pristine condition. In addition to the top notch job they doing cleaning your clothes they also have excellent alteration services which I make use of often. I can’t say enough good things about Colony Cleaners in Cross Creek!

Great service and so close to school… Like that they are a green cleaner too.
