History

Established in 2006.

Shear Elegance Salon opened its doors in April of 2006 by salon owner Lisa Belliveau. In March of 2010 the salon moved to a larger building with a more convenient location at 169 Highland Ave. Malden. Lisa and many of the stylist have over 20 years experience in the hairstyling industry and are always taking advanced classes in hair cutting, clipper cutting, color techniques, and product training for all hair types.

Lisa Belliveau is from Malden with two children and has been a Hair Stylist since 1988. Lisa continues to educate her employees and keeps up with the trends by attending many Hair shows and classes.

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!! My hair looked better going in than coming out. I had a young girl, her name started with an M. I went in to get my ombré fixed, needed a transition from the dark to the blonde. When I went in my hair was half natural brown half dirty blonde, all I wanted was a transition between the two because my blonde was actually a nice color!!! After I specifically said I don’t want my natural brown part colored she insisted that she «had» to dye it brown so I said fine but it had to be the closest to my natural color and NOTHING WITH RED IN IT. The dark part of my hair is now a reddish brown (NOT WHAT I WANTED) and the once dirty blonde part is now an orange/​yellow WITH NO TRANSITION. LIKE SERIOUSLY??? I regret going here 110% and wish I never handed that $ 125 for this mess I now have to get fixed somewhere else. She even tried to convince me that I «had» to go back in the following week and get a deep conditioning because my hair was SOOOO damaged while at the same time she was compressing my hair strands with a curling iron… COME ON!!! I didn’t ask her to curl my hair and damage it some more!!! This was followed by a dialogue of her saying how ombré looks better curly… but it should look decent straight too right??? ABSOLUTE COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!

I spent a few hours here getting a partial, cut and blow dry and I can honestly say that it was one of the best experiences I’ve had getting my hair done. I felt immediately comfortable, welcomed, and like I had been going there for years. Stella did an awesome job with my hair and I felt like a million bucks when I left. The prices are so reasonable and I will definitely be back. If you are looking for a stuffy, serene experience, this place is not for you. If you are looking for a lighthearted yet relaxing time with an awesome haircut for great prices, give them a try.

I bought a Groupon and was in a desperate «I need my hair done immediately!» situation. I had never been to this salon before, so naturally I was a little worried about how things would turn out. I will now be a regular here! Stella is GREAT. She was incredibly friendly as soon as I walked in the door, knew my name already since I had called earlier and she had remembered, and was completely receptive to what I wanted. I wanted some funky hair, with 3 seperate colors and a cut, and I have to say, she is a pro! I have had more than one negative experience with salons and hair stylists not LISTENING to what I want and then me going home and crying for 2 days everytime I look in the mirror — never again! As I told Stella when I walked out the door, I will DEFINITELY be back.

I found Shear Elegance a while ago through a GrouponNow– $ 40 for a cut, color and blow-​dry. I was hesitant at first because that seemed like way too good of a deal but the place is great! Very nice, clean setting and friendly stylists. I go to Stella now on a regular basis– she is super nice and hilarious and always makes 2 hours at a hair salon seem more like gossip and drinks with a girlfriend. She always knows exactly what to do with my hair and is full of suggestions. The prices are great too– only $ 60 (full price) for a cut, color and blow-​dry. I definitely recommend!

I like this place! It’s very low key and Stella is super nice. The first time I went here was because I got a groupon type deal for a cut and color. Stella did an awesome job and I got exactly the color I wanted. She also put some fun colored extentions in.
If you are looking for a high end Newbury St type salon, this isn’t the place for you. But if you are looking for a casual salon that does good work this place is awesome. And you can’t beat the prices, even without the groupon deals!
PS– I never write reviews for anything but it made me sad to see only 1 review on this where someone gave them a 1 star. Totally not accurate.

I was referred to Shear Elegance after a friend got a Groupon and tried out the salon and was very happy with her results, so I gave a chance. I was super happy with my results. Stella was awesome and my hair looks amazing. I got great highlights and and a really good cut. Stella was super friendly and Shear Elegance seems to be a real neighborhood salon. I would totally recommend giving Shear Elegance a try you won’t be disappointed.

I just got a deal from dealfind to come here. I called to make an appointment and I called and asked if this was shear elegance salon, I’d like to make an appointment and I the person that answered was talking to someone else in the store! When I kept saying hello, I just heard muffled laughter and continued conversation and was continued to be ignored. What place treats customers like this? I’m pretty sure this isn’t a real business
