Paul’s Foreign Auto Repair

I gave my car for the breakpads and rotor change. Replacement was ok but paul caused an accident to my car and i had to give the car for the collision repair. He was very harsh and careless driver. I witnessed it myself when I was sitting next to him driving. make sure he doesn’t drive your car.

I recommend this place. They are nice and skillful guys. They charge 130 dollars for diagnose and a fair price for parts. It is quite hard to find a good reliable mechanic.

Not sure who those 1star reviewers are, but this place is completely legit. Super friendly, helpful, and no they do not rip customers off. Flexible, quick, and friendly. On one occasion, saved me $ 100 for doing the same service than another chain auto service provided. On another, saved me over $ 500 (than another chain auto service provider).
When I bring my car over to Paul’s, I feel safe that they will do a great job, and they always do.

The replaced my Jeep’s radiator, fixed my heat and brakes, got a lug nut off that was rusted to the post, removed some custom hardware I bolted on a years ago and changed my oil. All within 6 hours and for a reasonable price. Thanks Steve!

Fantastic. Went to these guys on a recommendation from a family friend. I had been to a couple other mechanics in the Boston area that I liked, but these guys were friendly, honest, and the 10 min walk to the Malden Center T makes them super convenient to drop off and pick up your car. They quickly diagnosed a problem with my suspension and repaired it, explained what was causing it, and recommended that I also get my struts replaced soon (I was already aware they were due for some work). They were not pushy about getting the additional work done right away at all, whereas other mechanics I have dealt with can be pushy about getting themselves more work right away when it can be put off for a couple months until you have the cash. They quoted me a price for the future work that was very competitive. They seem to get a lot of business, which to me means they’re trustworthy mechanics who do a good job. I will definitely be going back for my auto repairs in the future.

I had a pleasant experience with Paul, the guys here seem like good honest mechanics.
I was buying a used VW GTI and brought it around to get it checked out first as I’m not exactly knowledgable with cars. They did a thorough check and found a probelm the owner mentioned to me only.
I ended up buying the car and getting Paul’s to do the work which was done promptly. I did need to bring it back as something was rubbing in the brakes afterward but it was fixed within 5 minutes for free.

Total rip off, they charged me $ 100 for check engine light check up, mind it JUST CHECK UP, NO ACTUAL REPAIR WORK. Check up is generally free everywhere. They didn’t even bother to inform me before doing it and when I went to pick up my car they said I have to pay the amount.
They just gave me some random code, when I asked for computerized print out, they said their computer is not working so they cannot provide me that. They gave me estimate of 500, obviously I didn’t go through that as I didn’t believe them. I went to other shop, they did free check up and their estimate was half.
STAY AWAY, Unilocal reviews are misleading.

This is a mechanic that understands how to gain and keep loyal customers by being trustworthy and reasonably priced. I brought my car to Paul’s because another mechanic said my struts were broken and rusted out. The mechanic at Paul’s confirmed a broken coil, but said the struts themselves were fine– in fact they had been replaced not too long ago!
Long story short, he could have easily charged me double to replace the whole assembly, but insisted in charging me half the original quote, to only change the coils.
I will be coming back for any and all maintenance from now on.

Paul is one of the few honest guys remaining in the auto repair industry. My family had a ’98 Corolla stowed away in a garage for almost a decade. Paul and his son was able to provide the most reasonable quote and service in the area for bringing the car back to life. Recently, they changed my brake pads. For anything auto, I will consult with Paul before moving forward with any decisions.

They were courteous, professional, came through with everything they promised, did a great job and were very reasonably priced. They even gave me a ride home and offered to pick me up when the car was ready.
I was in the Auto Industry for many years, and I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better value for your money.

If I could give MORE than 5 stars to Paul’s Foreign Auto Repair, I would! Paul and his son Steven are fantastic! I was given Paul’s phone # by a close friend when my check engine light came on. I called Paul, who was incredibly pleasant on the phone, and he had me bring in my car the next day (I have a Chrysler, nothing luxurious and foreign!) I dropped the car off at 8am and a few short hours later I had a call telling me what was wrong (Fuel System related). I had my car back the same day, running fantastic and the work (parts and labor) as well as the extensive diagnostic and fuel systems tests were FAR under what I expected to pay.
(I called around once I knew what I needed done… and the «big chain» car repair locations couldn’t hold a candle to the customer service, pricing or the passion that Paul and his «staff» have!)
That was about a month ago, and this past week when my timing belt decided to go to the big junk yard in the sky, (My cars not THAT bad, usually, but a 2003 PT Cruiser w/125,000 miles is WAY over due for some love!) my 1^st thought was to have the car towed there. Paul came right out and even opened the door to the tow truck to help me out. (WHAT a gentleman!) My car was barely off the flat bed when Steven had already diagnosed my cars ailment. Steven then drove me home, no questions asked, and I patiently (… semi-​patiently) awaited the call to tell me what the damage (automotive and monetary) was. I knew timing belts were FAR from cheap, and I was expecting a heart stopping number. It really wasn’t. In the end I needed a timing belt and an alternator belt. (once again, I called around to local «big chain shops» for pricing, and they were hundreds above what Paul billed me!!) I couldn’t pick up my car that night, but bright and early the next morning they were all working hard in the shop when I arrived to get my car, and it was no issue! (I once had a repair shop charge me an «overnight storage fee» once when they finished the repair at 4:30pm, and I couldn’t get there by 5pm, when they closed, to pick the car up, which left me with no choice to leave it overnight! $ 25 bucks to leave it in their parking lot!)
I’ve had many used cars over the years, and had work done at more shops than I can count… be it the «BIG» guys with celebrity endorsement, or even just the sketchy gas station doing some emergency repair, and I have NEVER received the level of attention that I have since I started going to Paul’s. I’ve also never felt as SAFE driving off the lot as I have recently! I would frequently worry what corners were cut by the people working on my car, or how much care was being put in the repair of the vehicle I’m about to put my toddler in.
I know that my car is safe and taken care of, and intern, my family is safe, taken care of, and provided for. I really can not say enough great things. If you need a repair done, or an estimate, or an oil change, anything, I HIGHLY recommend calling Paul and taking your vehicle in.

Very disappointed! Went to Midas today to get my brakes fixed and the tech showed me that the right lower arm in front needs replacing.
That’s very interesting since Paul himself told me that he had replaced that same part for a whopping $ 385 by the way. Interesting that it was never replaced by Paul and his team. So bottom line I got ripped off !! If you do decide to go to this shop at your own risk, make absolutely sure things are fixed and replaced as promised. I wouldn’t recommend at all. What a scam.

My family has been coming here since I stared driving and god my first car 8 years ago. we have referred MANY people to Pauls and THEY referred many people. 9 times out of 10, your car will be ready THE SAME DAY if you drop it off at 9am. They also have a key drop so that you can drop your car off when they are closed and they will work on it when they are open again which is very convienent if you are unable to bring your car in the morning or if they are closed by the time you get out of work

Well, what more can I say that hasn’t been said already? I mean, at this writing, there are 14 reviews of Paul’s Foreign Auto Repair on Unilocal… and they are all 5 star reviews.
Still, I feel compelled to add my two cents because this place is one helluva garage!
I own an old Audi clunker with 243,000 miles (BTW, that’s the distance from Earth to the moon, so I call it my moon car”.) Anyway, it requires life support to keep going and Paul and his son, Steve, are exactly the car docs it needs.
I found Paul’s on Unilocal about six months ago and since then I have had my car in for work twice, once for a new starter and once for an alternator. (I said it was a clunker.) Most recently I was driving about five miles from Paul’s when the battery light came on. I stopped the car, did not shut off the engine, opened the hood, and saw that the fan belt was off and shredded.
I hopped back in and drove directly to Paul’s. Even though it was already 3:30 when I got there and all three bays were in use, Paul immediately checked it out, called for a new belt, and about and hour after I arrived I was back on the road for not much more than the cost of the belt.
While I was waiting, I talked to another regular customer. While we were debating which one of us had paid for Paul’s latest set of golf clubs, Paul came in and just shook his head and smiled. It’s that kind of place. You’re not just a customer here, you’re practically family. That’s why I was not surprised to read Unilocal reviews about Paul offering customers a ride to the Malden T station and the like. And these guys never try to intimidate or bully you. They are HONEST, COMPETENT, and very REASONABLY PRICED.
They are not only the folks you want for mechanics: these are the guys you’d like to have living next door – the kind of guys who’d come out to help you shovel the driveway after your snowblower has died so you could get to work on time and probably have it repaired for you before you return home!
Paul’s been in the business for 40 years and Steve for at least 10. That 50+ years of experience. I just hope Paul doesn’t pack up his clubs and retire to Florida before I can afford to buy a new car.

I took my car here to fix my brakes on march 15^th, 2012. I told Paul what was wrong with my brakes and that I had them fixed at another repair shop. I told him that where I got my brakes fixed, the mechanic there said I needed a new proportioning valve because every time they bled my brakes to make them feel firm, they would go back to feeling soft and low to the floor and not stopping fast enough. Paul checked them out, and that was not the problem. I had needed a new master cylinder, brake lines and pads. He also discovered that the other repair shop did not do some of the work that they had charged me for. And also gave me the parts that the other repair shop said they had replaced but didn’t.
Today, May 12, 2012, my brakes feel very good and firm and my car stops when I want it to. This is a good repair shop. They do a good job. And they were very busy, so that is a very good thing. I came here because of the reviews on
. I will definitely be coming back so they can work on my car when I need repairs and maintenance done.

I highly recommend this shop. Paul was really nice and helped me figure out what was going on with my car. I could tell he was a good guy by the way he handled certain situations I witnessed. I will definitely be back (hopefully not too soon!)

Family run business by Paul and his son Steve. Fast and friendly service. Take my 2005 Audi to them and they charge a fraction of the dealer. Do a great job and in a timely manner. Need a ride to the T or back to your apartment, they do it if within a reasonable distance. And if they can’t fix it, they refer you to someone with their name attached. Won’t leave you hanging.
Won’t regret it!

If you’re looking for a great auto shop run by honest, super-​helpful guys, then this is definitely the place. Being a complete idiot when it comes to mechanical things, I was really worried that I’d get gypped by an unsavory mechanic looking to prey on idiots like me. Instead, I found Paul and his son (I think his name is Steven), two friendly guys who weren’t intimidating or unprofessional (as has been my experience elsewhere). They even remembered who I was after calling them for 30 seconds a few days before to ask about their availability.
Paul even gave me a ride back to my apartment after I dropped my car off (which wad about 1.6 miles away), which I couldn’t believe. A few hours later, my car was all checked up and ready for a 15 hour drive back to Virginia!
I swear, if I wasn’t moving to San Francisco, these guys would be my mechanics for life.
